Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2020)

Awesome.

I always forget this movie is a thing. It takes me about ten seconds to remember there's a new Ghostbusters movie coming out whenever I read a headline about it.

Yes, it is! They pushed back to November 11, 2021. Guess I have wait for next 11 months. Hope they doesn't change the date. 

Seriously, the gummy bears sequence was groundbreaking.

These are expected to be released to coincide with Ghostbusters: Afterlife.  It took almost forty years, but there will finally be some 3 3/4" action figures of the Ghostbusters that actually look like the characters in the movie.  I'm hoping that Dana, Louis, Gozer and Janine make it into the line at some point.  I'd even buy a Walter Peck, for that matter.  They're re-releasing the Ecto-1 from The Real Ghostbusters toyline as well, since they've been remaking those for about a year now, and the car was always too small for the figures in that line to fit properly.  

Looks fun.

I'm actually pretty hyped for this now.

Apparently, Hasbro decided that trailer release day should also be toy release day.  I found the action figures, an all-new Ecto-1, and some role-playing toys at Target.  Unfortunately, either the reporting from Toy Fair was wrong, or Hasbro changed their minds on the scale.  The action figures are 5" tall, rather than 3 3/4".  They are solidly built, and could take some abuse from kids who aren't as careful with their toys.  The location I found them at only had Peter, Ray and Winston in stock for the Ghostbusters.  There were three ghosts: Slimer (different design from The Real Ghostbusters, but he's still too big), the blue blob from Afterlife, and Mr. Staypuft (again, just like in The Real Ghostbusters line, he's too small.  He's even smaller this time!).  The ghosts that come with Winston and Peter are the ones pictured above on the card, not the Slimer and Terror Dog standing next to them loose.  Hopefully, this means there's also a Terror Dog in the ghost line that wasn't in stock, or will be made later.  The Ecto-1 vehicle is okay, but not ideal.  It doesn't have the cartoonish proportions of The Real Ghostbusters version of the Ecto-1, which is a major plus in my book.  As a stand alone toy, it looks great.  It is made very cheaply though, which wouldn't be so bad if it was cheaply priced, but it's $26.49.  The driver's side door doesn't open, and the driver's seat doesn't have a peg to slot into the hole in the back of the figures where the proton pack goes.  The side door does have the slide out chair from the trailer, and that chair does have a peg for the back of a figure.  It seems like the designers just weren't paying attention to what they were doing on the car.  

All that being said, these are still great toys for kids.
