Cheers Late Night with David Letterman- it revolutionized the genre. At the Movies with Siskel and Ebert - yeah you had the PBS show before this, and the ABC one after, but this is where they became wildly popular and made their first real mark in modern film criticism. Honor Roll: Cagney and Lacey St Elsewhere - after all, almost every television show after this one takes place within the mind of Tommy Westphall. www.slushfactory.com/content/EpupypyZAZTDOLwdfz.php

Are we seriously sticking to 3 shows? That's asinine. But if that's what IanTheCool wants, I guess we'll never change his mind. And yeah, thebtskink makes sense. At the Movies with Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert Cheers Late Night with David Letterman But if we can AT LEAST get to 5, Family Ties and Knight Rider should be considered. Or Square Pegs. Probably Square Pegs. Yeah, Square Pegs. Let Jibbs fight for Knight Rider.

Let's put it this way: I like a very specific type of show. And, granted, I know these shows pretty well in fact. But outside of those parameters? No way.

The mean streets of Detroit. She was classmates with Eminem. The Britany Murphy character in 8 Mile was based on her.

I think 5 should be the norm. This is the first round and it already feels as if 3 is too few.

Cheers - I was never a huge fan of the show, I watched it on a regular basis though. However you can't deny how big of an impact it made.
Knight Rider - A solid action show that had 2 spinoffs/remakes, a tv movie, and hopefully a big screen version coming out soon as well if the rumor mills are right. The right amount of action, sci-fi, and Hoff made this one of my all time favorite shows.
The Incredible Hulk - I watched the 60s Batman series but it never clicked with me. This show took comic book super heroes in the right direction. Serious and dark at times, with some top notch acting from Bill Bixby. Ferrigno brought a larger than life character alive and even though he was obviously much smaller than the comic version he was still massive looking on the TV and scary too. This show made average people realize that a comic book show could be for adults and kids too.
I know it was upped to 5 but I am sticking with these 3.

You guys, I love Siskel and Ebert as much as anybody, but At the Movies was not their debut. They'd been doing Sneak Previews over at PBS since 1975, At the Movies was the exact same format, for all intents and purposes it was the same show. Including it here would be like separately including both Late Night With Dave Letterman and The Late Show with Dave Letterman on two separate years. Meanwhile, St. Elsewhere (one of the most original and influential dramas of the 80s) is being wrongly ignored.

Agree about Siskel/Ebert and Letterman but for the record I rightly ignored St. Elsewhere.
