For whatever reason, the Alien franchise never hooked me until my late twenties. Which is surprising because it's one of my dad's favourites and he *loves* Sigourney Weaver.
I remember watching Alien around 7 or 8 years ago and finally "getting" it. Aliens, I've never understood the love for. I don't think I even finished 3 or 4. Ever.

^ Perfection.
Watched at least 50 times.
51 now.
Remember the Heath voiceover initial teaser? We still weren't convinced but as soon as we saw him...man....
Game over, man...game over!

"Nothing in his pockets but knives and lint." Great line. Is that from the comic or a Nolan/Goyer original?
Man, I don't think I've seen that trailer since 2008. Even the trailer didn't do the final product justice, though. It just looks like a standard sequel to Batman Begins with a badass villan, not the game changer that it actually was.

As far as disappointing trailers, I'm going with a recent one.
This teaser had me so pumped. It looked dark, Godzilla actually looked scary, and the Oppenheimer narration mixed with the foortage of destruction really gave this a sense of poignancy. Than we saw the movie and realized it's only a slightly more sophisticated Pacific Rim.

I didn't think the movie was as bad as some said. The 3rd act is really good. Great trailer though.

Not a movie trailer (but it doesn't specify "movie" in the title so ahHA!) but if you're a fan of the game and a fan of Ezio's story there's a lot to love in this.

Man, I don't think I've seen that trailer since 2008. Because they're all playing to opening weekend numbers. So many trailers are marketing lies told by studios these days. I just remember feeling slightly vindicated when Ledger showed up as the Joker and people liked it. So many arguments before that moment.

Speaking of videogames...
It's fan made, but it captures the series very well and gets me pumped.

"A Fistful of Dollars is the first movie of its kind. It won't be the last."
Actually, that tagline quoted is kind of bullshit given how liberally this borrows from Yojimbo, but it still sounds awesome.

Man...when the Mass Effect movie finally comes out they'd better live up to that shit. (They obviously won't.)
I just want the new sequel!

Earlier, we were talking about great trailers which led to disappointing films. For me, this was another big one.
I couldn't wait for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. I had every expectation that the movie would be awesome. I also had to wait until January to see it and the end result disappointed me profoundly. I've been meaning to give it a rewatch, but man was I let down.

It's referring to the trilogy... plus the birth of the spaghetti western sub-genre.

I remember in 2000 there was a Gladiator super bowl spot that had Kid Rock's Bawitaba playing. It was really badass but I've never been able to find it since. Free Girl Scout cookies for the person who finds it and posts the link. NeverendingSomeone posted it, a trailer that totally turned me on 15 years ago and I haven't seen since! It's not that great.

I LOVE how the letters explode at the end. It's the most 2000 trailer I've ever seen.

I had zero memory of that trailer until I heard Kid Rock. Then - it all came back.

While it's not a particularly good movie, it's a fantastic trailer.
