Saying "grab em by the pussy" compared to this whole email scandal is apple and oranges. But let's not forget the countless number of Trump bankruptcies, the settled lawsuits, the possibility of a conflict of interest, the tax avoidance, the phony university that gave people false hope. No candidate is clean in this election. Trump has literally no political experience, versus a person who has spent their entire adult life working in politics. I sincerely hope another reality T.V. show host doesn't run in the future. America is turning into a joke that prefers celebrities to people who can actually govern.

It's crazy, but the Presidency may once again come down to Florida. Trump is gonna win the Rust Belt states - those are the blue collar states where people are too dumb to realize that Trump won't bring back jobs. Hillary has California and the usual liberal states. Utah, apparently, might go third party. Seriously. They might go with Evan McMullin - whoever the fuck that is. So, really, the battleground state is Florida. The good news is: Central Florida has a MAJOR Puerto Rican population and they're all voting Hillary. Disney World and Puerto Ricans might seal the deal for Hillary. What a time to be a live.

10% of the people who vote in Philadelphia may not get to the polls on Tuesday because of the Metro strike, unless it ends before Monday, or a judge gets them to work by order.
That could throw things off a little bit.

m.facebook.com/TheRealMikeRowe/posts/1254500967893377I've been saying this for years and years. You want to cut down on crap candidates? You want to make elections somewhat respectable again? We need LESS people voting, not MORE. This idea that everyone needs to go out and vote isn't just nonsense, it's dangerous. We already have criteria for voting, we just need more of them.

So people should have to pass a current events test to be able to vote?

If it were up to me, for starters the minimum voting age would be changed from 18 to 23 or 25 and you would need a high school diploma or equivalent.

They were called Jim Crow laws. Not really. We already have criteria. You have to be 18. You have to be a citizen. You can't be a felon. There's nothing wrong with altering the criteria, that is unless people think any criteria is inherently bigoted and everyone and everyone should vote regardless of legal status, criminal background or even age.

There's nothing wrong with altering the criteria, that is unless people think any criteria is inherently bigoted and everyone and everyone should vote regardless of legal status, criminal background or even age. Sorry in advance for being a little less than civil but these aren't run of the mill dumb ideas you're advocating, they're dangerous ones that are contrary to most democratic principles and I'm not terribly willing to tolerate them even in the context of shooting the shit on the internet. The criteria you've named are based on fairly basic principles, namely that someone gets certain privileges once they reach the age of majority and that a state is governed by its citizenry. The notion that people lose their right to vote if convicted of crimes is awful and used to insidious ends, but it is at least rooted in the idea that someone has to actively go out and do something terrible before they're disenfranchised. They are not arbitrary rules put in place to prevent people who might be "too stupid to vote" from having basic civil rights. Every attempt to limit voting rights in the way you're proposing, even if done for ostensibly innocent reasons, would almost immediately have the effect of cutting out vulnerable segments of society or immediately be abused in order to do so. Your proposal to increase the voting age would, given the changing demographics on the country, serve to immediately cut a disproportionate segment of minority voters, and your proposal that voters have a high school degree would disproportionately effect a class of people with fewer opportunities and cut off their abilities to use democratic means to help improve those opportunities. It would also almost certainly encourage Republican lawmakers to do everything in their power to make it as hard as possible to get a high school degree for people who attend minority heavy school districts. What's more these proposed constitutional amendments (and yes, it would require constitutional amendments to put forward either of your proposals) is a solution in search of a problem. Someone's ability to pass Algebra II in high school has zero bearing on their ability to engage with current events and young people are also perfectly able to research issues and policies. I can think of any number of wildly ignorant old people who meet both of your "criteria" and tons of intelligent and politically active people who don't. You're trying to cut off basic civil rights to vast swaths of people in order to cut out certain individuals who already have very little power in society to begin with and would serve no purpose other than to limit out democratic process to an elite oligarchy.

That's why I said 'if it were up to me' which it obviously isn't. If it were up to me I would also prevent anyone who actively watches and enjoys Saturday Night Live from procreating. We don't need any more of those people mixing with the gene pool and taking up my air.

Lol never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers.
Yeah there isn't any further good way to restrict people from voting without screwing someone over.
I asked the question elsewhere and their ideas were along the lines of excluding people who don't pay income tax, but there you get into rich people with excessive deductions like Trump for example. Or how about people who get refund checks, they're getting money back not paying in more at tax time.. lol I know there idea was aimed at people who get Welfare or other state assistance, but is that fair either? I think not.
Well, in other news, Clinton is cleared by the FBI AGAIN!

I agree with the age change, not so much the diploma. I was actually discussing this with someone at work the other day. WAY to often you see "kids" voting for Candidate A just because their favorite movie star or singer tells them to. Without doing any research of their own and just hopping on a bandwagon. It happens in older age groups as well but I see it a lot more with the younger generation.

I would also prevent anyone who actively watches and enjoys Saturday Night Live from procreating. For every somewhat funny or mildly entertaining sketch that SNL makes, we have 10,000 of these.

I agree with the age change This is a slippery-slope. If anything bring car rental and booze age down to 18. If you can die in war or vote, you should be able to drink legally.
