If Obama had cause, then there would have been nothing wrong with it, but I'm sure the right-wingers would have started up their usual "ANTICHRIST MUSLIM CONFIRMED" bullshit. I don't really know much of what is going on because I live in ignorant bliss of things political, but what if Comey is doing something wrong in his investigation, and someone finally put their foot down and said "enough?" It seems like both sides have been calling for his removal for some time, so I'm not sure why it's an issue. On the surface, it's reading like a "AH HA, CROOKED FASCIST HITLER" anger from the left-wingers, which is just as ignorant as the previous-stated cry of the right-wingers. #HorseshoeTheory Genuine questions - Can't the FBI still continue their investigation? Does firing Comey end the investigation? The FBI is still conducting their investigation. There's a committee doing their own investigation. This Russia thing isn't going anywhere. It's ultimately what will get Trump impeached. Democrats AND Republicans are in agreement that Trump is a puppet for Putin but Republicans won't act on it just yet because they still need Trump to get a few things done. The midterm election is only a year away. They can't waste resources right now. They got a Conservative on the Supreme Court. They're making progress on repealing Obamacare. Next on the agenda is taxes. Once they get these tasks completed THEN they'll gladly help Democrats get rid of Trump and put Mike Pence in charge. Not exactly an upgrade.

Yup I agree.
Its not really the fact that Trump fired Comey, but the timing and especially the reason why.
Trump wants to control everything and everyone, like he does in Trump Tower, but the government has checks and balances and even though he's president even he has people AND laws to answer to.
Asking Comey for loyalty is not right. The FBI is a separate entity and must operate by and for the rule of law. Firing him just because you want to shorten an investigation is not going to work. The investigation will continue.
Both of those actions, plus the threatening tweet, come very close to obstructing justice.
No those Republican cowards won't do anything yet, because as Neverending said, they're still using him. Plus they want to wait until the conclusion of the Senate investigation, and see what that result is first.
Then they may call for an independent council, even though the Deputy Attorney General should call one right now because Trump used him as an excuse in the firing, and doing so would restore his reputation. Attorney General Sessions is not going to do it (even though he endorsed the firing in spite of previously recusing himself).
I see several changes in Congress (at least in the House) coming in the midterm elections - if voters have been paying attention and learned anything.
But then again, the Trumpanzees haven't given up on Trump yet, so...

Trump clearly wants to replace Comey with a stooge who will scuttle the Russia investigation, and even if he isn't able to do that he wants the firing to send a "don't mess with me" message to anyone else who might try to uncover corruption in his ranks. I think Trump vastly over-estimated how much Democrats hated Comey and somehow thought they wouldn't see through what he was trying to do. That might have worked if he'd fired Comey shortly after he got into office but he waited way too long to credibly suggest that the firing had anything to do with anything Comey did during the election. It's plainly obvious the firing was about Russia and only Russia. The fact that he so publicly bungled the firing and the communication around it might be what saves the investigation because whoever he submits as the new FBI head will be under intense scrutiny.

Yes he wants people in his hip pocket. Just look at the short list of Comey replacements. All Republican...some that have known Trump for years because they worked in NY, and one that investigated Benghazi, one that even has no law enforcement experience.
As it is Trump is isolating himself even more in the Whitehouse. He's got everyone vieing for his favor, and now they're all afraid of Losing their jobs. Because he's screaming at everyone. Trump is considering cancelling press conferences and doing it himself once a week with one question allowed. Or hand out a written statement... Yeah, those are accurate.
He's increasingly paranoid delusional and as I said isolating himself.
Watch this "tape" thing blow up in his face. If he does tape things, as he's known to in Trump Tower, he'll probably be caught trying to destroy them - which would break the law. Any recordings are historical presidential record and must be given to Congress.
Comey on the other hand, is known for keeping records of everything he does and has it all filed.
Lol Trump tried to show the investigative panel a certified letter from a couple months ago, from his lawyers saying he has no Russian ties anymore. This law firm was given an award as "the best law firm"
...by RUSSIA! lol you can't make this stuff up lol. Its the same law firm that handed over a list of Trump's holdings...with blank pages! ==$==============$$$
But wait! There's more!
My post on Facebook yesterday:
Let's see now...
All 16 Intelligence agencies have confirmed that. Russia hacked US computers and tried to interfere with the election.
Several experts such as professors at Rutger's University, Harvard, MIT, Loyola Law School, and several government commissions have stated there is no widespread voter fraud. And found at the most, 36 erroneous votes in any study.
Yet, Trump insists that there was no Russian interference and calls that a made up story by the Democrats. And Trump steadfastly believes that there was widespread voter fraud to the tune of 3,000,000 votes.
And Trump fired Comey to shorten up the Russian investigation, but he just signed an Executive Order to look into voter fraud.
Welcome to Opposite Land!!!
One More Thing... You know where Trump got that 3,000,000 fraudulent vote number??
He lost the popular vote by 2.9 million votes lol

DraculaA class action lawsuit representing all registered Democrats was filed after documents reveal Party executives colluded with the DNC to make Bernie Sanders lose the presidential primary to Hillary Clinton, resulting in the election of Donald Trump.yournewswire.com/media-blackout-dnc-lawsuit-rigging-primariesOn April 25, the court held a hearing on a motion to dismiss, with the DNC’s lawyers arguing that the party has every right to pick candidates in back rooms.
“There’s no contractual obligation here... it’s not a situation where a promise has been made that is an enforceable promise,” DNC lawyer Bruce Spiva argued in court.

I don't think I'd trust the sources of that report ^^^
There is no corroborating evidence to support it.

What is it people think Trump has done with Russia? Collude with a hostile foreign government to illegally steal information for purposes of interfering with the election and in the process putting himself in a position where he'll be blackmailed and forced to do said hostile foreign government's bidding as president. You know, treason.

Dang, really? They think Russia legitimately interfered with the election? That's crazy if that's true. I recall some dude doing some dinner with the press recently, and he was roasting the press saying that they all knew there was nothing really going on, that it was just being reported to drum up ratings. I guess I never put much stock into the rumors, and dismissed them at that point altogether.

Dang, really? They think Russia legitimately interfered with the election? That has never been in dispute, the hacked material that was leaked to Wikileaks was easily traced to Russia. What's still being investigated is the extent to which Trump's team worked with Russia to make that happen and whether there was a quid pro quo.

The Washington Post just broke the story that when Trump met with the Russian ambassador (the one that about five of Trump's campaign people met and allegedly colluded with) and foreign minister this last week, Trump bragged about what good intelligence he gets.
And Trump revealed secret information about operations and intelligence he got from friendly sources in Syria.
This information is not only sensitive, but it is CODED information.
Clinton only had Classified and Top Secret information in Her thousands of emails.
The levels are Classified, Secret, Top Secret and then CODED!!!! Extremely classified information that is also compartmentalized on a need to know basis!
This can get people killed it can also make further pieces of intelligence from coming in from sources that may not trust us any more. This information was only supposed to be declassified with the permission of those who gave it to us.

I have a feeling that impeachment is coming.
There is a meeting today with a representative of Turkey (the other foreign government that paid Flynn for his services).
Then Comey and others will testify on Thursday, I believe. I think they're also going to start to subpoena Trump's financial records. They can go to the Treasury records, if they want to, and see what may have been flagged by the system as suspicious activity. They keep a file on all financial anomalies.
Then Trump is off on Friday to the Middle East to solve that simple disagreement the Hatfields and McCoys, er. I mean, Israelis and Palestinians have been having since 1948.

Trump's brashness to let others lie to the American public in his name is remarkable.
He's a crazy old man. Can we never hire anyone over 60 to do anything of importance? Particularly if they have no experience in said endeavor?

I did another Fox vs Everyone Else comparison this week, and it's been hilarious. Fox spent most of the week barely mentioning any of Trump's various scandals. It wasn't until late yesterday that they began rolling out the excuses. Fox spent most of the week talking about Chelsea Manning, the persecution of Christians, what a great idea it was to fire Comey, Trump's commencement speech, Hillary, and North Korea. Any segment about what everyone else is reporting was extremely short and mostly left out of their YouTube feed. The few segments by Fox's two quasi-rational anchors- Shep Smith and Chris Wallace could only be found on the YouTube channels that record Fox for their own use. They're nowhere to be found on the Fox News YT channel or their official website when the subject is Trump.

And yet, I have two friends who are still drinking the Flavor Aid.
"I used to watch CNN and the others back when it was real news. I wish I could give you $20/just to tune into Fox News and see the truth"
Im paraphrasing but those are his basic words. He also thinks that Trump has gotten a lot done, and credits him for the increase in his retirement checks. " this is the first time I've ever made more than $200 in my retirement"
Lol
I thought the previous weeks were bombshells going off, but this week went KABOOM every day!
Calling Comey a nutjob to the Russians, and saying the pressure is off lmao.
This has just become a criminal investigation (potentially. He will look for that) And now Trump can't even fire Rosenstein without looking even more crooked. And certainly cannot fire MÜller hahaha!!!!
I can't wait until after Memorial Day when Comey testifies in an open session.
Now that he's in Saudi Arabia there's an inside source close to Trump? Lol they're ready to jump ship, everyone is hiring lawyers.
Even Pence is trying in vain to distance himself from his constant lying that he didn't know about Flynn's ineligibility to have the security chief position. Pence has also started a PAC so he's definitely hoping for a big future after the fallout.
And what is with this Trump/Flynn bromance?
Trump isn't loyal to anyone except family and himself. Trump had the staunch support of both Chris Christie and Rudi Giuliani who both went out and spoke strongly on his behalf. He fired both of them in the middle of the transition period.
So why appoint Flynn after possibility at least 3 warnings, and an official letter (To the head of the transition team, Pence,I might add), and then wait to fire him, after being told again how he was not allowed to hold any position, for about 18 more days.
On top of that firing three people who had Flynn in their investigative cross hairs. And asking Comey several times directly, instead of having his director of operations call the justice department, and go through proper channels, to drop the Flynn investigation. Comey tried to teach Trump the protocols each time too.
Flynn has also asked for immunity. Well, when you're talking about getting immunity from prosecution, that generally means you have the goods on the bigger fish...
...so does that mean Flynn has something on Trump??? There arent many other bigger fish than that. That's the only conclusion I can come to....hmmm.....

I'm almost worried that he has some kind of master plan where he goads people into trying to impeach him, narrowly avoids it, and then somehow comes back stronger. I can't really think of any other reason why he be doing so many catastrophically stupid things, he can't be THAT stupid can he?

I can't really think of any other reason why he be doing so many catastrophically stupid things, he can't be THAT stupid can he? He's always been rich, he learned ruthless business tactics from his father, he has a history of swindling contractor after contractor, as well as other investment partners. According to his Art of the Deal, he goes to work without a plan and sees what pops up for the day, and hops on the phone to make calls for his underlings to get certain things done. He's used to giving orders and having Yess Men follow them or be fired. Trump is narcissistic, an egomaniac, and highly impulsive. His reality is not like everyone else's reality. He's been hauled into court thousands of times, and relied on his lawyers to handle it all. Usually he'll settle out of court - throw money at the problem and it will go away. His cabinet members are all afraid of his rage. Trump started The Birther Movement. He doesn't even know American History. He doesn't get why the American Civil War was fought because, "no one ever talks about it" He thinks the war could have easily been avoided, and that his favorite president Andrew Jackson "was very angry over the whole Civil War thing" President Jackson died on June 8, 1845

He's that stupid and the Republicans allow him to be that stupid. They've allowed him to be that stupid because he has been useful in promoting bills he doesn't understand or even read. He just promises people that good things are on the bill, because he does understand that everyone who makes more than $200.000 gets a big tax break, and the middle class gets a bigger standard deduction (big freaking deal). He doesn't even read full security briefings (obviously) he asked them to break it down to bullet points. Anyway, he's been useful in getting the Republican agenda through, especially since he doesn't bother or understand the details. ====== Random thought I wonder if Trump is going to use his left hand while visiting the Middle East?
