Trump re-opens government but threatens to use a national emergency to build wall. Not two days after Nancy Pelosi takes away his state of the union. Coincidence?

The reason he gave in is because McConnell got off his ass and finally allowed two bills to be voted on in the senate.
One bill was exactly the same bill they were going to send to Trump in December that he agreed to sign - until Anne Coulter and Rush Limbaugh gave him shit because he promised the wall, and he ended up not signing.
The other bill was one that included money for his wall>
Both bills got voted down, but the bill with 5 billion in wall money got one more vote against it than the original bill with no wall money.
McConnell took them to the White House and showed Trump that he wasn't getting his fucking wall.
I think Jared Kushner also advised Trump that he should play hardball and shut down the government until he got the wall - they both miscalculated and misunderstood that Pelosi knew how the game was played lol
He didn't know quite what to do with her - notice the only name he came up with to call her wasn't up to his usual offensive standards, "I call her Nancy"

If this past month is Trump's idea of what winning is like, I can understand why he said America was going to get tired of winning.

Wisconsin got hosed by Foxconn, Walker, and of course - Trump They got a ton of incentive money guaranteed because they were going to build a factory and hire thousands of blue collar workers, Trump made a big deal out of it to his supporters calling it 'The Eighth Wonder of the world. Now, they're not opening a factory, not hiring blue collar workers in Wisconsin - they're shoveling out money to other states paying lower wages for businesses they already run, while paying wages in Wisconsin to "knowledge" workers (read Engineers) - that are just high enough to get the credit to keep the money ball rolling. It's like some kind of weird Rube Goldberg Machine - thanks Trump, and Walker. Such a deal 🙄 🙄 🙄 add this to the GM and other jobs for blue collar workers, Trump promised but never materialized. Think that's bad? In China Foxconn is switching jobs to robots, because robots are less expensive than some of the cheapest labor in the world It's going to take something like 40-60 years for the deal to break even

That whole saga is absurd. How it was done everything. Shameful for the gop but not shocking and their supporters will still point to it as a win no matter what.
Cory Booker announcing candidacy for 2020. Dude better get married quick. No chance without at least a wife. Family values bullshit still plays.

The dude in the whitehouse has a straight-up mail order bride, several divorces, some sexual assault allegations, and has to pay off porn stars... I think being unmarried is going to look alright by comparison.

A fair point but he isnt a politician.
I don't see Booker going too far without declaring a running mate early.

'On top of all that, implementing all of these policies could cost trillions upon trillions of dollars.
Altogether, the Green New Deal is a loose framework. It does not lay out guidance on how to implement these policies.'
And there's the rub, it's all just lip service. Paying for everything that she's throwing out, from this Green New Deal to Medicare for all to student loan forgiveness to whatever else she's talking about, is going to cost a lot more money than any amount of 'taxing the rich' will ever get you. It will require massive tax hikes across all income levels and no Democrat is dumb enough to throw that bomb out there. Well, AOC probably is.

Yep, even accurately describing a tax as marginal doesnt get to the question of revenues.
At the end of the day, you take away more than 50% of someone's income or wealth, they have no incentive to buy into the system.
I'm all for increasing taxes on the rich, but AOC, Bernie and Warren are all advocating to an extreme that's never going to work. Gimme Beto, or a similar tempering of ungrounded idealism to pragmatism that happened between Obama the candidate and Obama the President.

Why are taxes so taboo? Can only lower them never increase? It makes no sense particularly when taking into account inflation. Taxes need to stay progressive not regressive.
Cancel all corporate taxes, they barely pay them anyway. Make an emissions tax. Will itself force people to change to green tech (if the tax is high enough to justify the original cost of implementation), we just need a way to actually and accurately calculate the emissions.
I would happily give more to the man if you guaranteed I was covered for health insurance (tying this to employment was fucking stupid to start and it has increased in stupidity ever since) and my loans were forgiven (mine are actually paid off already but I'm sure more people would agree to increased taxes if it meant this sword of damocles wasnt above their head).
Number one cause of bankruptcy among individuals is health issues. Even with those that have health insurance. That's job one. Make it single payer. Will save way more money and due to the nature of getting out of private/for profit sector will become more transparent from the get go and more accurate prices will be charged.
This running from taxes is fucking stupid and has literally brainwashed half the country. Sick of it.
