I have a feeling this is going to flop so bad and it makes me sad, I'd like this to be successful.

It's been rated PG-13. Anddddd all my enthusiasm and hope for this is gone. As a gritty, R-rated, Blade Runner-The Matrix hybrid this could've been a real treat. We've seen this PG-13 game before, and we know how it turns out. I want this movie to prove me wrong and be an outlier, but I have little hope.

I think the trailers for this were really bad and didn't do much to entice non-GITS fans to get on board. I base this off no evidence but I can only imagine most people would watch it and go 'huh?'

It just baffles me that time after time studios try to "appeal" to the masses by making a film PG-13. Teenagers don't care about the anime. Teenagers don't have money. Teenagers don't go to the movies. Adults and families do. And now, unless this miraculously gets good reviews, they've lost my money and probably many others as well. This idea that making a movie PG-13 will equal more profitability has been proven wrong so many times. Look at the most recent Terminator film. Not only did it suck, it totally bombed. I'm in no way saying that PG-13 movies can't be great, but watering this particular film down is a major disappointment. R rated films can make plenty of money, just look at Logan. The studios need to wake up.

If Lucy made $450M+ I'm sure this will achieve similar. Should've hedged their bets and called it Lucy 2 colon GITS.

I don't really care about the rating. A bad movie with blood and guts and sex is still a bad movie.

A bad movie with blood and guts and sex is still a bad movie. But it's better than a bad movie with no blood and guts and sex. Tits and ammo are always an improvement.

Not great, but I figured it would be a lot worse. I'm still planning on seeing it in IMAX on Sunday, nonetheless.

Yeah, that's actually pretty decent. I still am bitter it's not rated R, I really think it would've helped. Consensus though seems to be what he expected; the film is beautiful to look at but misses the opportunity to delve into the interesting philosophical potential of the story. I might see it next week.

I'm excited to see it. I want to hear about it from the people that have watched the anime and how it compares to the 95 movie.

I saw it tonight. Considering the story is completely different a lot of scenes happen the same with only slight twists. I do miss the philosophical psycho babble but ScarJo kicking ass is sweet.
