JohnWyldstaarDeexanPhantomKnightAngelWhen Tornado - excuse me - John posted the... poster... I didn't pay attention to the credits. In fact, you can't even read it. But apparently, the poster reveals that Danny Elfman has contributed "additional music" to the movie. So now, fanboys are speculating all sorts of things. Was there issues with Brian Tyler's music and Elfman was brought in to fix things? Did he write a new version of "No Strings On Me"? Or, and this is what Tornado loves to read, Spider-Man got thrown in at the last minute and they're using Elfman's Spider-Man music. What do you guys think?

I suppose anything is possible, but I'm not counting on them re-using Elfman's Spider-Man theme. I think Spider-Man showing up though is a very real possibility.

International and American posters differ a bit. Most notably Iron Man being brought to the foreground in the international version, and for some reason less going on in the background. It's easy to find the reasoning behind the two character positions (even if it is a bit dumb), but why the lessened chaos? The international poster doesn't feature Ultron in any way as a result. It also omits the IMAX 3D ad. *shrugs*

The International poster is better.

I find it makes them all look very silly in their poses without it. I think Spider-Man showing up though is a very real possibility. Spider-Man during a post-credit scene would be cool, but I would imagine he would be in costume and say nothing if so. I say that only because it would be very hasty to have finished the casting of the character already. Then again, if being in costume, they will have rushed the design pretty quickly as well (unless they use an old one).

If he's going to show up I think he's gotta say something, can't have him standing there in silence. That would be really awkward.

Pretty much what I was thinking. Someone would have some line of dialogue feed, and him just show up. Land, turn a cheek, spin down on a strand of web... something, I don't know, before cutting to black. Just picturing something they could do to be like "Hey world. Look who's joining the crowd."
They could do more I guess, but Sony/Marvel would be having to get on the ball very quick in either having cast him, and/or having designed the new costume. I suppose there's ways around the costume. As long as it's recognizable.

Shoot, they could even find a large web or something. The point would still come across.
GENIUS! Print it.

I don't know that I'd say "genius." I don't think Marvel has fought for his rights for so long just to imply that he exists in their universe. They're either going to show him or do nothing and wait until Civil War.

All they gotta do is show a big Web and a bunch of Ultron Bots Stuck To It in an end credit easter eggs deal.

I sometimes get really sentimental about this world that Marvel has created, partially because of the sheer quality of it and the volume it has been amassing, but also because I grew up reading a lot of these characters (seriously, I read Iron Man, Captain America, and Hulk for several years) and I honestly didn't think any of this would ever happen. Do you guys remember back when they were looking at Brad Pitt to play Captain America? I think the studio was so worried about how these characters would be received that they felt compelled to bring in the biggest star power possible. Last year they made a movie about a talking raccoon and tree.
Now these characters that the studio was terrified of adapting have turned into a literal phenomenon as big (or bigger) as the Harry Potter films, James Bond, Star Wars, etc. In fact, I think you could argue that this series is bigger than the first two (Star Wars in terms of longevity and scope of how huge the impact the franchise has had on film, television, video games, etc. is practically immeasurable) and there's obviously no end in sight. It's amazing.

I can't get that excited because most of the movies are cookie cutter and mediocre. And the TV shows have been awful so far. Warner Bros has struggled with their DC movies but they have made most of the great movies in the genre. Donner's Superman. Burton and Nolan's Batman. Watchmen. Marvel has... what... The Avengers? Quality over quantity, my friend.

Woah woah woah, Marvel has The Winter Soldier. Seriously, I'll hold that movie on a pedestal til the day I die. (yeah yeah to each their own, everyone's allowed an opinion blah blah blah - that movie CHANGED ME).
Having said that: I'm kinda stuck in between both of your two outlooks on the MCU. I have my undying love for it and my absolute awe at the world that's been created (I mean, I am so invested in these characters it's sad) but at the same time: I now hold these movies to impossibly high standards. They can make record breaking movies about talking raccoons and trees. I think it's safe to say they've got a pretty sweet position in the industry, so use it. Push boundaries, go outside the box (and no I don't mean talking inanimate objects) and really go nuts.
How many other films/franchises out there have been in this position? With debatably an almost guaranteed box office success (relative to other films) but creative license to deviate and reinterpret the source material (unlike Harry Potter or The Hunger Games)? Take advantage of it Marvel, blow my effing mind.

"Agents of Shield" has not be cookie cutter. I'll give you the show started out rough, but overall it has been a great series.

Warner Bros has struggled with their DC movies but they have made most of the great movies in the genre. Donner's Superman. Burton and Nolan's Batman. Watchmen. Marvel has... what... The Avengers? Quality over quantity, my friend. I have to disagree. I think the films sometimes seem cookie cutter because we all know the stories. We've all either read the comics or have at least stumbled across the stories and plots online. I think we all knew Bucky was the Winter Soldier going into the film, but I imagine the general audience was caught off guard. As far as the TV shows go, I think that's a tough call to make at this point. I'm 16 episodes into the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Does it start slow? Hell yeah. I came very close to throwing in the towel on it altogether, but now I'm really glad I didn't as it's slowly evolving into a much better show and I haven't even hit the episode that spun off of Winter Soldier yet. And I haven't seen Agent Carter yet (that's next once I finish Season 1 of S.H.I.E.L.D.), but judging by all of Angel's live-tweets during the show it sounded good and tied into the rest of the MCU quite nicely. I don't know that I would really rank DC's films over Marvel's just by default personally. If I had to rank them from company to company, not including the Spider-Man or X-Men films, I'd say... (I quoted your post here at about 7:45AM CST and I'm posting it now, so pretend there was a time lapse here) 1. The Dark Knight 2. The Avengers 3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier 4. Batman Begins 5. Iron Man 6. Guardians of the Galaxy 7. The Dark Knight Rises 8. Superman 9. Batman (1989) 10. Captain America: The First Avenger So yeah, I have a DC film at the top, but it's split 50/50 otherwise. Man of Steel was close to taking the 10th spot, but otherwise I'm pretty content with the ranking there. DC has a bit of an advantage since all of their properties are under one banner too. The conversation isn't Marvel vs. DC, it's Marvel Studios vs. Warner Bros.' DC films; just for conversation's sake though, if I started factoring in the Spider-Man and X-Men films, then DC would lose two spots above and Marvel would take a 6-4 lead (dropping 8-10, adding in Spider-Man 2, X2, and X-Men: Days of Future Past). Again that's not the argument, but just thought it might be worth sharing.

I don't really care for Iron Man 2 all that much, it's the red-headed step-child of the MCU. But I've really enjoyed the other nine films. I wouldn't call them all great by any means, but I'd call the top four (that I ranked above) "great."
