I'll take the wait-and-see approach.

Sound expensive.  Traveling the cosmos means different sets every week.  The BBC can afford to do it with Doctor Who because the show is highly profitable.  Syfi does things on the cheap most of the time.  Given the Syfi reputation for goofiness of late, I'd expect someone like Booster Gold to be about their speed.

I agree, but at least it would be interesting. I don't know why SyFy expects anybody to be excited about this. Seeing Jor-el run around doing science-y and/or political things would be a stretch to start with, but Jor-el's father? Superman's grandfather? Why am I supposed to give a shit?

Personally, I'd like to see a spin-off featuring Superman's distant Earth cousin, Jeff, who lives a modest life working for IBM customer support.

This takes place before even their parents are born.

What's next is Black Lightning.  Even so, there are hundreds of DC characters who are far better suited to a TV series than Superman's grandpa.  One would think that SyFy would have learned from the failure of Caprica that nobody gives a pair of fetid dingo's kidneys about a TV series about a world we already know is doomed.  Nothing that happens on a Krypton series is going to matter in the slightest.  Planet go BOOM!  Kevin Smith and Mark Bernardin recently revealed that they were working with WB on a series based on The Question, and it never got past the development stage.  That, I would have been interested in checking out.  If Krypton makes it to series, I will ignore it.  Zero interest beyond just trying to figure out WTF goes through the brains of studio heads at WB.
