The worst Marvel movie returns. As bad as Elektra (2005) is, there are still a few Marvel movies that are worse. Personally, I'd give the worst award to Man-Thing (2005). If we include made for TV movies, the bar drops even lower. Captain America (1979) with Reb Brown makes Elektra look like a masterpiece. I'm more than a little surprised that Jennifer Garner was willing to sign on to a Deadpool movie. I strongly suspect she doesn't know anything about Deadpool, or what kind of movies they are. |

Elektra has nothing. was given a limited theatrical release internationally. Plus, it was made with the intent of being a theatrical release. This plan was cancelled when it turned out to be a complete POS. Pretty much everything based on a Marvel character that can be turned into a theatrical release, has been at one time or another. Just not for the domestic market. Even the old Captain America (1944) serials were edited into a feature film for international release, as were the Spider-Man, Incredible Hulk and Captain America TV movies of the late 1970s. The only thing Elektra has going for it is Jennifer Garner, and the opening scene, which is excellent even if it is a complete rip-off of the opening of Leon: The Professional (1994). If you're going to steal, steal from the best. The only things I liked about Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance was the look of Ghost Rider. His look in the first movie was too anatomically correct. The skull needed to be stylized the way the comics did, and Spirit of Vengeance gave us that. The giant excavator being imbued with Hellfire was pretty cool, too. Between the two, I'd also give the edge in quality to Ghost Rider 2. At least the character stayed somewhat true to the comics. Aside from that opening scene, the character Jennifer was portraying bore no resemblance beyond the superficial to the comics. |
