So, as promised, here is the official thread to leave blurbs, mini-reviews, etc. for any and all films on the recently-amassed CS! AFI Top 100 Movies: 1980-1999 Edition.

I just thought it help cut down on time combing through letterboxd reviews, especially for movies that I've logged multiple times.

Mixed in an Amadeus rewatch this weekend.
I forgot how fantastic F Murray Abraham is in that role. The scenes with him narrating how a symphony pieces together are a clear highlight.
Also the movie shows that we can have historical works without pretending every other country speaks the King's English.

I love Amadeus too for all the expected reasons...but also for giving us the term "shitwit."

The list is made. Last call for any reviews/pull quotes for movies on it. There are quite a few that need them. Otherwise, I can think of other options.

Blade Runner- A wonderful blend of science fiction and noir. Voiceovers and multiple versions aside, this continues to remain one of my favorites.
The Fly- Probably my favorite Cronenberg, I appreciate how quickly The Fly gets going, devoid of any unnecessary filler. Goldblum is fully committed to the absurdity of it all, and some real grotesque creatures. A great prequel to MCU’s Ant-Man.
Unforgiven- Hell of a thing, killing a man. Top 10 western All-Time for me. Clint’s best performance and wonderful cinematography.
Jurassic Park- T. Rex. 10/10

Which movies are you missing blurbs for? I'm sure we can all chip in. In alphabetical order and in no way indicative of their placements...these are some that could use some juicy quotes. I'll add more later:
Blow Out Blood Simple Blue Velvet Braveheart Das Boot Dazed and Confused The Elephant Man Evil Dead II The Fifth Element ( frankyt) Ghostbusters Hannah and her Sisters Mad Max 2 Miller's Crossing Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters Predator The Princess Bride Scarface Scream Speed The Three Colors Trilogy Tombstone Toy Story Trainspotting The Vanishing When Harry Met Sally... There are more than these I could use, but for now... I'm just trying not to have the quotes be dominated by Dracula, PG Cooper and myself. No offense, guys.

I already have 100-91 prepped to go -- and at least one of the movies I just listed is among those ten, but I had to use my back-up idea for it, so it could use a quote from one of us.
So I'll hold off on starting to post the list for just a bit.

Where to start with the perfect movie? Sci Fi buddy cop brilliance. Ripped off a well known graphic novel, absolutely perfect casting top to bottom, the use of physical effects (when prudent) make this thing age like a fine wine. And don't get me started on the musical number. Who here can't sing that fucking thing right now if I gave you the beat? The rest of the music is no slouch either.
Gimme the friggin heat mon. Fifth element is pure comfort food.

The Vanishing- An eerie Hitchcockian thriller that can get under your skin. Maybe not what one would call a ‘Horror’ film, at least in some of the trademark ways, it at times still feels like one, due to nature of the story. There are countless films centered on kidnappers/murderers, but The Vanishing really sets its self apart by really taking its time and getting inside the mind of the kidnapper. Structurally, it’s genius in the way the story is told as well. It tricks you into thinking what your watching is chronological in the present tense, when it really isn’t, and emotionally that throws you through a loop.

Hannah and Her Sisters- Allen's overall best decade of work may have been in the 1980's, with Hannah and Her Sisters being one of his top works. Told over the course of 24 months, beginning and ending with a Thanksgiving gathering, tells story of the titular character Hannah, and her sisters Lee, and Holly. Told in 3 arcs, most of the characters and events in the story lead back to Hannah, and Allen finds a way to deftly balance the humor and heart into something that doesn't feel too forced. When Allen's films work, it's usually because a strong script that compliments it's strong cast. The characters feel fully realized, and as with most of Allen's works, explore a multitude of topics, both funny and serious.

Ed Wood One of my favorite unsung sub-genres of movies is the 'movie about making movies.' They're usually pretty enjoyable and most of them settle for being entertaining glimpses into the behind the scenes workings of Hollywood. Movies such as Hitchcock and The Disaster Artist do a good job of delivering the goods but every once in a while you get something that stands apart and above. Who would have thought Ed Wood, a movie about one of the greatest hacks in all of cinema, would be that movie? Who also would have thought that Tim Burton's best movie would be an R-rated black comedy such as this? Johnny Depp gives probably the best performance of his career (eat it Jack Sparrow) as Edward D. Wood Jr., a filmmaker who with the help of Bela Lugosi (an Oscar-winning turn by Marin Landau) tries to make his mark on Hollywood and culminates at the premiere of his magnum opus, Plan 9 From Outer Space. This is my favorite type of movie, the one that gets better with each and every viewing. It's hilarious, heartwarming and you can see the passion that Ed Wood has for the art of filmmaking, the quality of his work be damned. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have many big, successful movies between them and this is possibly (in my opinion 'easily') their best.

If there's anybody who feels passionately about Blue Velvet, you might wanna make your statement, since that's one that's giving me nothing much to go on, quote-wise...
