He could have been on to something if he'd combined the two and cast Nicholas Cage as...
...SUPERFLETCH.

I like Loaded Weapon 1. At least, I remember liking it.

I like Loaded Weapon 1. At least, I remember liking it. It's an odd movie. They cast Sam Jackson and have him play the straight man. They have William Shatner as the bad guy and he's in, maybe, three scenes. I don't totally buy Emilio Estevez as Mel Gibson.

I was beyond disappointed with Loaded Weapon 1. I'd been looking forward to it, having been a huge fan of The Naked Gun, Airplane! and Hot Shots!, and was under the mistaken impression that this POS was made by the same people and would be of the same quality. Sadly, there was no IMDB available at the time. Looking the movie up now, I see that the two writers who came up with the story had never worked in the film industry before, and never would again. The director had a long history of writing terrible movies, and made a few more terrible ones after Loaded Weapon 1. He never directed another feature film, but did direct Emilio Estevez again for a TV movie, this time riffing on Clint Eastwood's Man With No Name Saga.
To make matters worse, I was dirt poor when this movie came out, so paying for movie tickets meant that it would affect what I could EAT that month. To have wasted money on movie tickets for a film that I didn't enjoy was a big deal. AS GOD IS MY WITNESS, I'LL NEVER EAT RAMEN AGAIN!

So what you're saying is it deserves a second chance?

So what you're saying is it deserves a second chance? I'm saying that your use of that clip as a misguided attempt to demonstrate that it's actually not terrible makes me sad. I thought better of you, until now.

I thought better of you, until now. You're actually right, it is a pretty bad movie. There are 5 or 6 scenes throughout that are hilarious, they're just surrounded by an hour of mediocrity. Thank Jeebus for YouTube.

The Walk (2015) wasn't given enough credit for being visually fun. I blame PG Cooper. Dude talked mad shit about this movie when it came out.
