Or just "Deckard." It's minimalist, so it must be good! Deckard: Portrait of an Advanced Replicant (The Human Side of Androids!)

Deckard: He Was A Replicant: Was He? This is the sequel to Ridley Scott's version. The next movie will be a sequel to the theatrical cut.

I'm not opposed to voice over in this film or any film, but the voice over in Blade Runner was just poorly executed exposition. Voice over gets this stupid taboo around it simply because people don't use it well or use it in place of stronger storytelling. I use voice over often in my writing, but I try not to use it for exposition or direct feelings but rather unique observations that aren't blatantly obvious visually. In terms of Blade Runner, they tacked on the voice over at the last second, and it showed. I only watch the Final Cut now when I rewatch the film.

I can't disagree with you. That Frank Darabont commentary on the shitty voiceover in the end scene with Roy Batty is great. "It's like you're having sex and someone dumps cold water on you!" Hahaha!

The cinematography looks real good, looks like Deakins is DPing, otherwise I still think this seems like a bad idea.

I don't think it's too early for me to say I told you so. Trailer was an awesome tease, can't wait to see more.

It'll be average, like everything in this era of nostalgia.

It'll be average, like everything in this era of nostalgia. Look at who's involved with the film. I don't think this is going to be a typical sequel by any means. A lot of talent is behind this, and people who respect and appreciate the original. They've also stated that despite it embodying the original, they are making their own film as well. Deakins has already stated that he isn't just copying Cronenweth's cinematography and is creating a look unique to this film. If there was ever going to be a sequel made this many years later that actually works, it'll be this one.

He's also in talks to direct Dune. He wants to, though he's also said he's skeptical it will happen in regards to obtaining the rights. Still, if Blade Runner 2049 is a success, that will likely change. It's funny how he makes his first sci fi film with this year's Arrival, and now he may be starting to become THE sci fi director out there.

Trailer is wonderful. Anyone worried about them capturing the essence of the original need not fret.
