I'll make Blade Runner 3. You'll make Tremors 6. Which will be Blade Runner 3 because I haven't seen any of those movies and I'll make it totally unrelated.

Christopher Nolan killed a few people, so you should be fine.

Isn't the question of whether deckard is a bot or not one of those movie questions that shouldn't be answered?

You mean a question that WAS answered? Yeah but not explicitly was it? It depends on whether or not they're making a sequel to the original or one of the million director's cuts.

Yeah but not explicitly was it? I dunno, but Ridley Scott said he was. That shouldn't matter. If there's somehting you should know about the movie, it should exist within the movie.

Are we not counting the unicorn origami? If that doesn't count, then Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid are still alive.

The movie isn't about Deckard, he's just in the film, in the third act I believe. The film focuses on Ryan Gosling's character. We really have no clue about anything regarding the film at this point other than it taking place over 30 years later from the original. Ridley Scott has explicitly stated that Deckard is an android, which if that is the case they're going to have to explain how he can be alive since the most advanced models in the original film had a life span of 4 years. Scott is the one who advocates that Deckard is an android; Phillip K. Dick, Harrison Ford, and the Blade Runner screenwriters disagreed.
But yes, the origami unicorn is a major clue. The idea is the age old one that what separates us from machines is our empathy, our emotion, and our ability to dream. And yet, we see firsthand that Roy Batty contains all of these traits. He's sad by the death of Pris, he's angry at being deemed lesser because he's a machine, and he's sentimental when he talks about all the things he's seen that most humans never will and how those memories will all be lost "like tears in the rain". So I have always viewed the unicorn to be Deckard's dreams which puzzles him because he's dreaming about something that doesn't even exist. This is maybe what separates him from the other androids. It's all just speculation, but I am curious to see how they handle all of this since, like I said, if Deckard is in fact an android how the hell is he alive 30 years later?

The screenwriters disagree? Ha! Yeah, literally Ridley Scott is the one who's adamant about Deckard being a replicant. Everyone else was like where the hell did you get that from? I think it's a fun idea, I'm not opposed to him being one or not. Stuff like the unicorn are not in the script, it's Scott implementing those insert cuts (I'm pretty sure anyways) and really that footage is from Legend but was never used for that film. So that's why in subsequent cuts of the film, that sequence is in there, though I believe the origami was always in there. Not 100% on that.

Yup, saw this earlier today. We'll have to get this thread name changed! I'm happy with the title, it's simple and doesn't have some stupid subtitle like "Rise of the Androids" or "Return to Dystopia" or some shit like that.

Or just "Deckard."
It's minimalist, so it must be good!
