1godzillafan, I’m by episode 5. Although, admittedly, I slept through episodes 2 and 3. Turkey coma! Anyway, Tim Burton went “woke” and I want to be the one to tell Doomsday. If Doomsday only ever watches one episode I want it to be number 5. As for my dear friend PhantomKnight, he’s gonna love it. The show is great. Best thing Tim Burton has done in 20 years. Although Tim Burton at his worst is still better than anything SnoBorderZero has done. I hope SnoBorderZero hate watches Wednesday, knowing he’ll never make anything better. Just kidding, bud. Still watch the show though.

1godzillafan and PhantomKnight gonna totally love this show. Tim Burton only directed the first four episodes, which are the fun world building ones. Episode 5 is the random “woke” episode that Doomsday will base his entire opinion of the show on. It’s like a transitional episode. Episodes 6, 7 and 8 are the episodes that focus on Wednesday Addams as a teenage paranormal detective at a Harry Potter inspired boarding school. This is the premise for the show that got initially announced and had people cringing, especially since Gough & Millar pitched the show. Those episodes indeed come across as WB/CW schlock and I fully expect SnoBorderZero to shit on it, but 1godzillafan and PhantomKnight live for WB/CW schlock. It’s their catnip. The show certainly goes off the rails in this second half. It’s almost comical to watch Wednesday Addams as a “badass” paranormal detective fighting supernatural villains. It goes against everything the character stands for and basically betrays the the Addams Family IP. Barry Sonnenfeld can sleep at night knowing he still has the definitive version of this franchise. But Tim Burton built a lot of good will with those first four episodes and Jenna Ortega (and the rest of the cast) are great. If you make it to episode 6 you’re basically committed to the show and gonna see it through. Plus, the “final boss” is an evil pilgrim straight out of a Sam Raimi movie and that’s pretty awesome. Overall, it’s a fun series worth watching even if the premise is a bit shaky.

Wednesday’s roommate is a werewolf but she won’t turn into a werewolf so her parents want to send her to conversion therapy. Meanwhile, Gomez ( thebtskink favorite Luis Guzmán) and Wednesday are Latino on the show and have a heart to heart about race in America. |
