Here's the thing about Texas Chainsaw Massacre, every sequel/reboot to it always means to spark a franchise, but the only one that came close was the fucking 2003 remake. Every time they do this they pump out a movie, then it just sits there with its ass in the air.
Remember when Twisted Pictures and Lionsgate wanted to make six of these? Then they released Texas Chainsaw 3D and nobody spoke of it again.
I expect nothing less of this movie. And with the behind the scenes drama that already brewed, if it's not at least a train wreck, I'm going to be disappointed.

I think we all take comfort in knowing that the new TCM isn't as awful as Holmes & Watson and reaches the prestige bar of other Netflix acquisition classics such as The Cloverfield Paradox.

I also move to stop naming spinoffs/direct or indirect sequels to movies by the exact name of the original film. The Thing, Scream, now this, I'm sure there are others.

This movie is innovative because it erases the word "the" from the title. The last time they rebooted they erased the word " massacre," which means we're owed reboots called "Chainsaw Massacre" and " Texas Massacre." |
