I remember there being some serious talk about a Godfather IV back in the 90s, I think it was meant to be a split movie like Godfather II. Then Mario Puzo died and that all went to hell.

This is one of the few interesting franchises Paramount has, even if it's been dormant since 1990 aside from re-releases and whatnot. Paramount is a shit studio these days. If "the right script comes along", oh yeah, it's gonna be greenlit.
