Let's settle this once and for all: DC vs. Marvel Tournament

Cause Darkman is actually really good, whereas Batman Returns is...not.

I believe I can point to a 24 minute video that says otherwise.

His argument is that Batman Returns is campy... but Darkman isn't.

How is Batman Returns tonally inconsistent?

You know exactly what it is from the very first scene.

You must be thinking of Guardians of the Galaxy.

Spider-Man
Neither Swamp Thing is a great movie, but I've always preferred the second to the first because while it's complete camp, it has some flavor to it.  But Spider-Man is loveably campy as well and still has captured my heart all these years latter, even with some underdeveloped screenplay woes.  Spider-Man is just a blast of a superhero movie and hands down gets my vote.

Story:  Jack Napier attempts to burn a paper trail at the Axis Chemical plant for his mob boss Carl Grissam, but finds himself double crossed when the police arrive upon Grissam's orders to have the corrupt cops kill Napier and his men.  The standoff is interrupted by a masked vigilante known as "the Batman," who accidentally knocks Napier into a vat of chemicals that turns his skin chalk white.  Renaming himself "the Joker," Napier kills Grissam and takes over Gotham City's underworld, with only Batman standing in his way.

Pros:  The Golden Globes considered this film a "Comedy or Musical."  Let's roll with it.
Cons:  It kind of sucks.

Story:  The Men in Black are faced with yet another world ending crisis when a power hungry alien named Serleena lands on Earth seeking the Light of Zartha, a mysterious object that could eventually destroy the planet if not found.  But the only MIB agent that knows the location of the Light is the now retired Agent K, and Agent J is sent to restore is memories to hunt down the Light and stop Serleena.

Pros:  NOD YA HEAD!  Black suits a comin'.
Cons:  It kind of sucks.

This Batman movie is what audiences were prepared for in 1989.  If people had been given a version of these characters that was true to the comics, they couldn’t have handled it.  I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve seen it.

MIB II missed the mark badly.  I’ve seen it once in a theatre, and that was enough.  I probably caught some of it on cable while channel surfing.  The In Search of.. spoof running throughout the film is the best part of the movie.

Batman. Next!

I actually kind of have a soft spot for Men In Black II...but it's Batman, hands down.
