The failure of Superman IV (along with MoTU) to perform at the box office is one of the primary reasons Cannon went bankrupt and sold the Superman movie license to Jon Peters. Jon Peters didn’t stop Superman movies from getting made. I never said he did.

Someone should send him my video. I'm more likely to send him a video of Mr. Freeze puns.

That site in general is a minor tragedy of a fan-site and resource being co-opted by "the man". Before Christopher Nolan, that was the Batman site. Jett was very authentic with his opinions. If you could look-up his original Batman Forever review you'd be shocked. Guy loved that movie and said it was better than Batman Returns and on-par with Batman 89. Guy wasn't some one-sided fanboy that would go with the trends. You could respect him even if you didn't agree with him. Then to become a shill for Warner Bros was quite tragic.

To be fair, he was invited to the premiere of Batman v Superman too, and his review was not kind to that movie, so he does have some standards. But I remember his opinion of Rises is that it was the best Batman movie that could ever be made and that's...just no. I'm not sure I ever looked up his Justice League opinion though.

I will say, I've really come around on TDKR. Definitely the weakest of the Nolan movie and a near complete mess at times, but fffuckkkk me is it entertaining.

Oh I like Rises, but it's just like three steps below the other two, and there are things that make me go "You couldn't have done something else?" Like, the "Robin" reveal at the end of the movie is "lol no."

I think my reaction has always been about the same. It's kind of how I view movies like It: Chapter Two where I like the idea of they movie they think they're making more than the movie itself, though it's still fine enough.

Speaking of notorious posters Hey, I conceded you were correct in those arguments when I made that video. You know who really pissed me off? Jett from Batman-on-Film. I used to love that dude. Gym teacher by day. Batman nerd by night. Then Warner Bros invites him to the premiere of Batman Begins and the dude did a 180 on the Burton films. The guy had the balls to say Batman Returns is as bad as the Schumacher movies. I was outraged and never again went to that guy's website. Although I was friends with him on MySpace and would see all his shilling for Warner Bros. Disgusting. The last time I watched Batman Returns (January of this year), I could see the beginning of the transition to the Schumacher tone. Marching penguins with rockets strapped to their backs. Penguin's bumbling circus performer goons. The gadgets Penguin himself employs. Catwoman's dialogue. The scene where Penguin controls the Batmobile via one of those kiddie rides you see outside grocery stores. That very same scene going out of its way to employ the "old lady crossing the street" gag. The Penguin's downfall being brought on by DJ Batman. It starts off sloppy as hell, but once it settles into its groove, the sheer ambition of it makes it immensely entertaining.

Everything Bane says about the "wealthy elites" is cringy, and it was cringy then too.
If they excised that crap they'd have a better movie.

To be fair, Darkman is better than most superhero movies.

Darkman is better than most movies period.
Every best picture winner of the 90's should have scrubbed out and they would just pull Darkman out of the envelope over and over again, because it's Darkman and it deserves it.

Spider-Man
It's a fun movie. I have issues with Spider-Man, but as first takes on a particular superhero go, Raimi did a fair job.
Waiting seven years to make a sequel in name only is a strange thing to do. The first movie was already a bargain basement production, but Return of Swamp Thing looks even more cheap than the original. Not even Heather Locklear at her hottest, or Jim Wynorski in his prime could save it from disaster.

It seems like Batman Returns is going up against X2: X-Men United, which is a shame, cause a match-up with Ang Lee's Hulk would have been a lot more interesting. Two directors who made their version of a superhero.
