Keep both. Also, 100 American movies better than Shawshank? Bitch, please. Stephen King nailed an ending! Sambucas all round. The movie changed the ending

Personally my favorite Darabont King adaptation is The Green Mile, but I like Shawshank a lot too.

Actually, I guess technically he is but I don't know if anyone wants to champion Maximum Overdrive.

Not only is Shawshank a great movie, it's also one that seems to be pretty heavily ingrained in pop culture. Worthy of a keep to me.

Shawshank pishes all over green mile and the shining isn't really Kingian as Kubrick turned it into a whole other beast.

Did Stephen king write running man or is the skinkmeister yanking my plank? King wrote the novel Running Man was based on under the Richard Bachman pseudonym. The Movie and book are almost entirely different, but it's still technically a King adaptation.

King wrote the novel Running Man was based on under the Richard Bachman pseudonym. The Movie and book are almost entirely different, but it's still technically a King adaptation. I've actually been considering reading The Running Man book. How different is it? To put it simply, the movie borrowed character names and the deadly game show premise and that's about it. In the book, it's more of a Fugitive/America's Most Wanted style show where Richards has to survive on the run as a fugitive in America and viewers can call in tips on where to find him. If I remember right, every day he survives his next of kin gets more money. In the movie they changed it to an American Gladiators style show because that was huge at the time, and Arnold Schwarzenegger needed more action scenes. I don't remember being too compelled by the book, but I haven't read it in twenty years

Without giving away the plot, the game is more out in the real world, and the main characters assault on the game at the end is more of a blind rage than focused.

Richards is also a willing participant and not a convict that coerced into it. In the book he's just some dude who needs money for his family, if I recall.
