Do we think that this movie is where Tarantino's critical backlashing begins?

Is this news to you? The intermission will only be in the 70mm roadshow version BTW.

I'm getting pretty hyped for this. The cast looks awesome. Tim Roth cracks me up in every trailer.

The Hateful Eight and The Revenant are going to be a double bill for me on the 26th.

I'll probably have to wait for The Revenant. I doubt it'll get a big release in my city, which sucks cause I'm dying to see it.

I will say that as much as I want to preserve shooting on film as an option for filmmakers, I kind of don't miss film projection that much.

Theater employees HATE digital projectors because they're digitally locked. You can't play a movie until a certain date and it's only available for an x-number of times and then it locks itself again. With film projectors, theaters had total control of the movie. So there's really pro's and con's to both.

I actually spoke to a theater manager this week and she's pissed off that her theater can't unlock Star Wars: The Force Awakens until 3 hours before the movie is scheduled to premiere. What if there's a glitch in the system? How are they supposed to fix it only minutes before that 7pm Thursday crowd walks in. Studio's are starting to abuse theaters because their fear of piracy. Every theater employee, who doesn't work in a corporate office, would rather have a film than a hard drive. It's just not worth the stress.

I doubt I'll be seeing the Roadshow version just due to what's close to me, so I'll be waiting until January. However it looks like my main theater will be getting The Revenant on Christmas Day (along with Joy) so I can't say I'm too disappointed.

The Revenant has way better trailers, but Tarantino hasn't really let me down yet. Death Proof isn't great but even it has merit.
