Any pitchfork I might have had for Marvel was retired long, long ago when I stopped watching anything they released. But good luck, Brie, I think you're gonna need it. Seems like people were saying the same thing in 2019, but Captain Marvel performed very well. True, but Captain Marvel had the advantage of being released between two huge Avengers movies when Marvel was in its prime. These days, eeeehhh...

Are you guys planning to see this? I'm curious what percent are gonna go.
I feel like I will just to taste that sweet dolby life but I'm not looking forward to it.

I will, but I can't say I'm all that enthusiastic about the prospect at this point in time.

It's weird to say that I don't care about Marvel enough to either root for it or hope for it to fail. Nothing about The Marvels seems overly criminal or egregious enough for me to delight in its bombing but there's not a single thing enticing about it either. Such is my indifference for the MCU which is sad.

To those out there who are just rooting for Marvel's failure and are taking delight in their current "down state", I just say, "Focus your energy on other things, guys."
My current lack of excitement/enthusiasm for The Marvels has more to do with the fact that none of the trailers have done a really good job of selling the movie beyond the whole swapping places angle. I don't even have a decent sense of what the plot of the movie is. Plus, this is a sequel to one of their more "mid" movies.
But y'know, looking back at everything that the MCU has put out post-Endgame, most of the stuff of theirs I haven't liked as much has been the Disney+ series. On the movie side, I liked Black Widow perfectly fine, I honestly love Shang-Chi the more time goes by, Eternals was very strong, loved No Way Home, Multiverse of Madness was a lot of fun, Love and Thunder still made me laugh enough, Wakanda Forever was strong and very emotionally-charged, Guardians 3 was good...and I actually re-watched Quantumania last night and apart from a few things -- mainly the way the movie ultimately drops the fucking ball hard with Kang by the end -- I honestly don't mind that movie all that much. Whereas the Disney+ series have had their good moments/aspects, but the stories have been severely hampered by that bullshit 6-episode format. And it feels like the writers haven't done a good job of writing the stories for that format, outside of maybe WandaVision (which was 9 episodes).

I think this is mostly it. It's been a while since we've seen Captain Marvel, I don't think Brie Larson is the most personable movie star out there (cue Neverending Brie gif) and I don't think Ms. Marvel was overly well received. It's a team-up of B team Marvel stuff.

She's probably the main thing about this movie I'm looking forward to.
