Someone at Sony finally came to their senses! ... sort of... The deal is for Spider-Man 3 and one appearance in an MCU movie. So there’ll be another round of negotiations coming soon. Sony is probably waiting to see how Venom 2 and Morbius do. |

Wyldstaar thebtskinkI hope they get Toby involved for a multi-dimensional adventure. Kevin Feige alluded that Spider-Man will appear in the Spiderverse. My guess is that Spider-Man will appear in Doctor Strange Multiverse and it’ll open some black hole into the Spiderverse and Madame Web will be involved somehow.

There has to be something else going on with this deal. What has been publicly disclosed indicates that Sony has agreed to accept the offer from Marvel/Disney that Sony rejected months ago. Marvel must have given Sony something else they wanted.
It's already been disclosed that the status of the merchandising rights has not changed, so it's clearly not that. One of the things Sony really wanted, but Marvel Studios previously refused to budge on was the inclusion of Tom Holland's Spider-Man and associated MCU characters in a Venom movie. Kevin Feige was always adamant that Venom was not in the MCU, no matter what Amy Pascal says in her interviews. I'm sure there's probably something else Sony wanted, but nothing comes to mind at the moment.
Anyone have any ideas?

The deal they walked away from before was a 50/50 split and the new deal is a 25/75 split, so that is different, and the short term nature of the deal would seem to suggest they're prepared to walk away again if needed.
