Okay, seriously, try these. I honestly don't know what you have seen and what you haven't.
Dog Day Afternoon
As for my picks, I'm really not sure what I am going to be able to get my hands on. I'll try Long Goodbye first.

All good. Only one of those I have not seen Train to Busan, which I've been meaning to see, so I'll go with that.
If you have trouble locating any of mine, let me know and I can give you a different list. Do you have the criterion app?

thebtskinkSpaceship EarthIt stars Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin as two slackers who get stuck living in a biosphere. Wait. Wrong movie. It's about a group of 1960's hippies who built and lived in a bio-dome for 2 years in the 1990's. It features colorful characters such as Bass Pro Shop, Steve Bannon and Tenacious D. The doc follows how the hippies built this dome as an experiment to create life on other planets. Think of the Matt Damon classic The Martian. But the group ended up starving and hating each other and the dome was sold to the University of Arizona where today it's an amusement park. This all seems very... anti-1960's-hippies to me... and I'm fine with that. Fuck those guys. Nah, but seriously, it's interesting little doc that looks into 1960's hippies accumulating to the business world of the 80's & 90's. Could have been deeper and more meaningful but it's about hippies in a bio-dome. Really not much else you can do unless you throw in Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin and their wacky hijinks.

Transit
Transit is a fun little movie that I think I admire more for what it did more so than the content of the actual movie. The film itself is about a refugee, Georg, who lives in Europe in an undetermined future where fascists are quickly taking control and rounding up anyone deemed an enemy. While attempting to deliver a letter to a writer he discovers that the writer is dead, leading Georg to assume his identity. He heads to Marseilles where he connects with the family of a dead comrade but more importantly he comes across the writer's wife whom he becomes smitten with and quickly finds himself planning her escape to Mexico.
What's interesting about a movie like Transit is that it does so much with very, very little. It's an interesting concept and tight script aside, it's a movie that could have been shot on any street in any country in Europe and still have the same effect. The set dressing is non-existent, the costumes are contemporary, there were probably few if any visual effects. I'm not sure what the budget was but it didn't need to have much of it. Transit would be a movie that I would show in a film class and recommend to any aspiring filmmaker to demonstrate what you can do as long as certain elements are in place like interesting characters, noticeable conflict, and a good structure to the script. It's also interesting to watch as the movie is basically shot through Georg's first person view. We're given very little in terms of backstory to just about everything which makes it difficult to invest from the start but as the movie goes along you glean more and more until you find yourself rooting for just about everyone on screen. Little is told about the writer or the fascist takeover or their rise to power but it's not terribly necessary. All we're seeing is Georg, his plan to escape and who he chooses to take with him.
Transit isn't a movie that's going to change your life or make you want to vastly explore German cinema but there is a lot I admired about it. It starts off as a slow burn and makes you think you'll be watching some political thriller but then leads to something more deep and personal. Like I said before, I think it's a movie that students and lovers of film could learn a lot from and I think it's a movie that we'll be hearing more about down the road.

Mother (2009)
Crazy that Albert Brooks, Bong Joon Ho, and Darren Aronofsky each directed totally different movies called Mother, and all three are pretty darn good. Today, we're talking about Bong Joon Ho's Mother, a wrong-man murder thriller following a mother's efforts to clear her special needs son, who has been accused of murder. What probably stood out to me most as someone familiar with Bong's output post-Snowpiercer is how little the movie has to do with class. I mean, it's certainly there. The opening scene of the film involves the lower class son being victimized by the rich and an elderly homeless man is also a key character. I'm sure one could read a fantastic paper on how Mother is in fact about class, but it isn't a driving force the way it is in something like Parasite.
The real focus is on how far a mother would go to protect her son. The titular mother is played to perfection Kim Hye-ja, and her investigation to find the real killer proves quite the yarn, especially as she has to make some key choices. Bong is also able to mix drama and humour quite effectively. All told, the film is pretty great. It certainly doesn't dethrone Parasite as my favourite Bong Joon Ho film, but I definitely liked it a lot more than Snowpiercer and Okja. If nothing else, Mother is proof that I need to watch more of the man's Korean language films, because that shit is clearly where it's at.

I might have trouble finding these Hard Eight (1996) The Lighthouse (2019) Under the Silver Lake (2019) Uncut Gems (2019) I think these should all be streaming on Amazon or Netflix for you. Let me know.

Just something for you guys to chew on...
We're slowly coming upon round 200. When we did 100 we did a breakdown and found a movie that none of us had seen from some 'best of' list, I think we all watched Close-Up. What do you guys think we should do for round 200? A couple ideas I had:
-Find another list like before (Ebert's Great Movies, 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, etc.) and find one that none of us have seen. -Find a movie and actually pull the trigger and do a Netflix/Amazon watch party.
I'll message Jibbs on the side and see if he wants to return for the big 200. Whaddaya think?

We collectively did Close-Up and The Earrings of Madame de before, I think the later soured a lot of people on the whole thing, but I thought it was fun. Not so interested in the watch party idea. That... just doesn't sound very fun to me.

I finished my film and will review before weekend's end.
I'm in for the milestone round. I believe I participated in the 100th, although I can't quite recall.
I vote for the first option. While I'd love to do a watch party, with two toddlers, time's such a precious commodity and it's almost impossible for me to sync anything outside of work hours.
