Ill go with The Station Agent. But wish i can do Cold Souls myself too cause watched preview minute ago and looks good. Phantom: does it have to be a movie i have seen on the list u have gave me? If so, Go with Boyhood. If not, Go with Cold Souls, i havent seen that one but looks good and would like to see a review of it. No, wait, you've got the lists mixed up. The first list are movies for YOU, and the second list are movies for you to pick from for me to see. Ok, Ill go with Cold Souls for myself. The movie for you to go with is Fruitvale Station

The Ice Storm (1997)
The Ice Storm follows the lives of a couple of intermingled families in the 70s involving friendships, couples, and affairs. The characters are pretty nuanced and fun to watch, but I wouldn't say I was loving the movie at any point. The ending packs quite a punch and somehow manages to tie the movie together pretty well. The movie really nails the middle-class depression theme.
Christina Ricci's character was perhaps the most interesting, trying to find her way through adolescence with messed up parents, but I never really could figure out Elijah Wood who was a typical moody kid at times, but then overly weird and autistic at others.

Cool, so right now we have Drac, Coop, Justin and me. I'll try to get the next round up in a few days depending on when everyone else gets their reviews up.

Dooms, you and I are technically partnered for this round, right? I'm thinking of doing The Keep.

You just end up feeling sorry for Ian McKellan in the movie and thankful he went on to become Gandalf.

Lady Snowblood (1973) Because Japan has a pretty long legacy of fine dramatic cinema it often doesn’t get as much credit for its genre action films (outside of Godzilla anyway) as its larger neighbor China, but that is perhaps a mistake given contributions like the Zatoichi films, the Lone Wolf and Cub films, and of course Lady Snowblood. Lady Snowblood is actually an adaptation of a manga and while it’s clearly a genre film it’s not quite clear what that genre is. It’s set a little too late to be called a Samurai film but it also doesn’t exactly feel like a martial arts film. Perhaps it is better just to think of it as a straight up action/revenge movie. The whole thing is pretty damn pulpy and the highlights are almost certainly the moments of violence. The fight choreography isn’t necessarily noteworthy but it makes up for it by being very bloody and having a lot of style in said bloodletting. I don’t meant to make the film sound like it’s completely shallow either. I mean, it’s not exactly Shakespeare, but there is a story here and it has a couple of fun twists and turns along the way. The film is perhaps best known today for being one of the key influences on Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill (especially volume 1) and that influences is certainly there. This obviously isn’t as polished as that movie but it has a lot going for it in its own way as well.

Glad you liked it! Just curious but for the sake of discussion, I remember giving you Tokyo Drifter a while back and I think you gave it 1 1/2 stars. What do you think Lady Snowblood had that Tokyo Drifter lacked?

What do you think Lady Snowblood had that Tokyo Drifter lacked? I'm don't know that they're that comparable really. Snowblood has a clearer story, better action, and a more controlled visuals style. Tokyo Drifter I recall being crazier in general and not in a way that clicked with me.

Alright, granted I haven't seen Tokyo Drifter in a couple years but I remember that I came away from both of them thinking they were very stylistically 'cool' movies. I was just curious if there was a reason you could recall that you didn't dig Tokyo Drifter, unfortunately your review is lost in the sands of time that is the old CS! Btw I'll throw up a new round tomorrow, did you want in Hollywood and PhantomKnight?
