My hometown managed to have one of the most spectacular pile-ups ever this morning. Texans don't know how to drive on icy roads for the most part. It just doesn't happen very often here. The last time there were icy roads in D/FW was five or six years ago.

Foot light on the gas, let the tires get the traction you need, slower starts and stops.
I'm always shocked by these accidents. It's not just Texas, I think Georgia has these every few years too.
But not having stocked highway departments would do that I guess.

But not having stocked highway departments would do that I guess. A major factor was that it was only a small stretch of highway that was icy. It was also only the express lanes that were iced, since they had far less traffic on them to melt it down. I didn’t encounter any ice on my way to work that day, aside from what was on my windshield that morning. |
