I actually quite liked it. The return to an R-rating really went a long way. There's a handful of good-to-great set-pieces that really deliver the violence. Tony Jaa made for a great villain and while it was a shame to see Stallone take a backseat to Jason Statham, the film does make up for it with a wild shootout where Stallone's hog is hanging out the whole time. So in some ways there's actually more Sly in this movie than any of the others, from a certain point of view. |

I haven’t watched the sequels. I watched the original in theaters and was highly disappointed. I found Escape Plan to be a lot better — and I didn’t watch those sequels either! But my understanding is that the series morphed from “80’s action stars team up” to Jason Statham as the main character leading a ragtag team of mercenaries. So I guess if someone really misses those Transporter movies, this is the next best thing. |
