There's a new audio drama out based on the unproduced screenplay sequel to Aliens that William Gibson wrote in 1987. The cast includes Michael Beihn and Lance Hendrickson reprising Hicks and Bishop. I just picked this up today, and haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.
Anyone listened to this? I'm a huge Alien/Aliens fan who wanted to walk out of the Alien III we actually got. I'd hate to be disappointed yet again.

So the monk planet script? That was a different unproduced script, written by Vincent Ward.

Ah, just dig this up. Both of those scripts would interest me. Let us know how you like this one.

I was unable to forgive Alien III for killing off Newt and Hicks, and off camera no less! To throw away characters with so much emotional investment with the audience is just lazy writing. By the time Alien III finally came out, I'd already read the various sequel comic book limited series published by Dark Horse Comics, which featured Newt, Hicks and Ripley. Back then, the very notion of taking a story from a comic book and making it into a movie was considered completely absurd, instead of the obvious move that it is today.
