In my most recent rewatch of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), I came to the realization that Terminator 3: Rise of the Machine (2003) is in fact the best in the series. It kills off Sarah Conner, which I believe was a brilliant move. She dedicated her life to protecting her son, John Reese-Conner, and ensuring his path to leadership of the resistance. With her gone, John Reese-Conner has to do it on his own. He can't continue sucking on his momma's teet. Then to add insult to injury, the new Terminator is a lady. She's there to question is masculinity. Oh, and it gets worse. All that hard work and sacrifice they did in Terminator 2 was for nothing. Judgement Day has arrived, son. The movie is truly a great metaphor of the journey from boyhood and manhood and of leaving the nest behind. Sooner or later you have to become an adult and face issues on your own and solve them on your own. This goes full circle with Terminator 1 in which Sarah Conner is a girl who must learn to become a woman. It's a shame they made more Terminator's. This wrapped up a perfect trilogy.
