Anyone have plans to see the eclipse? I'm driving down to the St Louis area to see it.

Got my glasses. I'd like to go see it at 100% but just not in the cards at work. I'll settle for 85ish around the burgh.

Anyone have plans to see the eclipse? I'm driving down to the St Louis area to see it. As much as I'd like to make special plans, I won't be. If I take the day off, that is the surest way to guarantee there will be thick cloud cover where ever I may be.

Cassini: The Dying of the Light Cassini is no more. At 10:31 according to its own clock, its thrusters could no longer hold its radio antenna pointed at Earth, and it turned away. A minute later, it vaporized in Saturn’s atmosphere. Its atoms are part of Saturn now – the lighter ones high in the atmosphere, the heavier ones (particularly the iridium-clad plutonium dioxide pellets that were, yesterday, in the center of its nuclear power source) likely descended much deeper before melting. www.planetary.org/blogs/emily-lakdawalla/2017/0915-cassini-the-dying-of-the-light.html

The earth just got a close shave TC4 is between 50 to 100ft in diameter and travelling through space at roughly 16,000 mph - 4.5 miles a second. It is past within 27,000 miles of Antarctica. This may sound like a long way away, yet it’s a short distance in planetary terms and around one eighth of the distance between the Earth and the Moon. It is also just above the distance our satellites orbit. So, a meteor about the size of a house was close enough to wave hello to satellites
