I understand the need of opening with a big action scene that’s also easy for the audience to grasp, but sending “the cops” after Trinity is kinda silly. You can tell The Wachowski’s were following J.J. Abrams’ Mystery Box. At this point in the story you’re not supposed to know they’re in a virtual reality world. So everything needs to feel believable to the audience.

Say what you want about The Matrix but it has the best 3rd act of any action/sci-fi movie. Even Trinity’s silly profession of love works.

Well, before Star Wars fans realized they were destined to hate every new Star Wars movie more and more they were pretty happy about that. 1999 was the Columbine massacre that they blamed on The Matrix. Just throwing that out there. |
