Indeed... but you can see where the movies are headed. If LucasFilm wants to be Marvel, then this movie probably set up the Obi-Wan film and you can expect to see a version of that scene in the movie. They're definitely not making a Han Solo 2 at this point but you can expect Obi-Wan and Boba Fett to pick up the pieces, like whatever Emilia Clarke's character is supposed to be.

Another weird thing about the movie. In the scene with Paul Bettany where they plan out how to get the coaxium it sounds like their whole plan to steal the unrefined coaxium from Kessel and bring it to Savareen is this unique plan that no one had ever attempted before but then later in the film they casually talk about "the kessel run" as if it's a routine smuggling route that everyone does all the time.

This movie was...fine. Perfectly middle-of-the-road and definitely had a safe studio-made feel, which is not surprising given all the behind the scenes drama. It functions well enough as summer blockbuster entertainment, but there's not much to it beyond that. To be honest, it was the character interactions I enjoyed the most, while I actually found myself kind of zoning out during most of the action sequences. Especially the first half hour, which felt like wall-to-wall action. The performances were probably the best part, though the character L-3 I found pretty grating. So, yeah...Lucasfilm wanted a "safe" movie, and that's exactly what they got. I walked in not convinced we needed a young Han Solo movie, and walked out feeling the same way.

Hello all,
I watch Han Solo movie. It was very good movie. I couldn't read the closed caption and it doesn't work at all. Maybe I will watch it again. When I get DVD to come in the mail. I probably will watch it again with closed caption.

Lots of recycling older themes, from what I remember.

Why the hell did they hire the two guys responsible for these films?
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009) and The Lego Movie (2014), as well as directing the live-action comedy film 21 Jump Street (2012) and its sequel (2014). They also co-created the television series The Last Man on Earth

That's like a self inflicted wound! No wonder Ron Howard couldn't fix it.

I think Ron Howard is the reason it flopped. He's by the book with zero style and very little substance. And from most reviews.... That's exactly what we got. Big ole meh.
At least those other dudes have a style, and apparently their movie was too dark for Disneys liking.

I just hope that when they inevitably recast Indiana Jones, they cast Alden Ehrenreich to fuck with people.

Loved it. Exceeded expectations for sure.
D.Glover once again steals the show. I want an audiobook of the Lando diaries.

Much better than I thought it would be, and definitely better than The Last Jedi, which I also enjoyed. If I didn't also follow the related animated series, I would've been wondering what the hell was up with that cameo, which I'm sure 95% of the audience was doing. If you don't watch them, his story arc in both Clone Wars and Rebels is reason enough to catch up with them. Best parts of both series.
