Avengers: Endgame

They’re probably negotiating how many trailers to put. This shits already 3 hours without trailers. It would be ballsy if they said, “fuck it. just play the movie.”

Loved that short. Crushed the first round of popcorn and waiting for the real movie to start gave me plenty of time for a refill.

Poor foreign kids at the movie though, you could tell they were so surprised. Sent out the one guy who spoke English the best to ask the attendant if this was the correct movie.

That was a separate issue.

The dilemma here is real estate. When Fanible says the showtimes are ready he means the pre-sales, which is usually one or two auditoriums. Maybe three or four if the theatre has faux-max or one of those “fan event” screenings. The full schedule won’t be created till the week of release and that’s when reality will set in. At 3+ hours it will severely limit the amount of showtimes and auditorium availability the movie will have. Disney’s best bet will be to play the movie without trailers OR pull the stunt they did in 2015 when they forced theatres to cancel Hateful Eight in favor of Force Awakens. They could very well tell Fanible to break his engagements with Shazam, Pet Cemetery, Hellboy and Conjuring to fulfill the demand for Avengers. Right now they’re probably testing how much power they have over the bookers and checking which rival studio will make a stink when April 26 rolls around.

I mean 3 hours... Are you guys doing 3d or regular?

I'll probably end up seeing it in 3d but that's a long time with them glasses on.

Uh... Tom Holland (Spider-man) and Peter Quill should have had a dance off with Thanos... I think they might have won the battle lol.

I'll be sticking with 2D.  I've occasionally seen a Marvel movie in 3D simply because that's the version that was showing at the time I wanted to go, and I've never been impressed.

Ew never. Gimme Wednesday movies or give me death.

Managed to get some decent tickets for Thursday night, but it was real damn close! They're pretty much all gone. :\

So yeah, final "trailer" as well. It almost feels certain that all of the footage in this is within the first quarter/third of the movie, but if you haven't watched it yet, it might still be worth waiting for the movie at this point:

It was pretty infuriating. I bought tickets for a couple different times (a regular show Thursday night and then in IMAX over the weekend), and BOTH times, we had some better seats selected and ready to purchase and the sites crashed and someone else swooped in and got em. The seats we managed to get aren't bad, but it was pretty damn annoying.

It was happening to all the theater chains, though. AMC was quoted saying that they weren't prepared for Infinity War when its tickets went on sale last year, but it would prepare them for this year.... whoops!

I went on Fandango. It had a 45 min. wait. I just drove down to the AMC theater and bought my tickets, no problem.

By the time I found out tickets were on sale, all the good seats were gone.  Hell, even most of the bad seats were gone.  I was about ready to resign myself to waiting until Friday when my girlfriend managed to get Fandango to work, and she found tickets at an AMC theater I don't generally even look at.  They're back row seats, but I guess that's better than front row.

On the plus side, there is a new Alamo Drafthouse that's getting ready to open nearby.  If they manage to open before Endgame, then maybe we've got a shot at some decent seats and can get a refund for the AMC ones.
