'90s Robert Rodriguez would be so ashamed of what he becomes. I know I am. While I am embarrassed for him when it comes to these awful kids movies he makes, Robert seems to enjoy making them. In a way, they're sort of the children's version of grindhouse cinema. Action, very basic story, more action, paper thin characters, more action, bad acting and explosions. It's right in his wheelhouse. |

Murder ball is pretty sweet and the scenes with the love interest are unintentionally absolutely hilarious. But it's a tedious 2 hours, if it's on tnt just stop in to see if there's a fight scene. Robby still got the directing chops for some fun action scenes.
Fun to watch with a group.

And I never put Rodriguez on a sort of elite filmmaking pedestal; like you said he's generally been making these kind of films his whole career just is now gearing it towards children. I've always found him to be incredibly overrated outside of his debut with El Mariachi, but he made fun movies. Now he's just unwatchable. |

There seems to be some confusion about Disney+'s new 18+ section, Star. A lot of people seem to think it's only gonna be available internationally, but they clearly said in the presentation it'll be in the U.S. too, right?

I didn't know Cry Macho was going to drop on HBO and theaters too. I'd be hesitant to drop a Jackson (or Tubman?) on Eastwood these days but I'd still rather watch it on the big screen.
