I get what you're saying. Italians are freaks. Pasolini is very happy with this comment.

You gotta admire Robert Zemeckis. Other filmmakers would have thrown in the towel by now after the run he’s had.

Whoever represents Zemeckis is amazing.
"Yeah I know the last twenty years haven't been great. But hey, you ever hear of a movie called...Back to the Future...?"

"Yeah I know the last twenty years haven't been great. But hey, you ever hear of a movie called...Back to the Future...?" Some of those gross motion capture movies actually quietly made more money than you'd think. That Christmas Carol adaptation with Jim Carrey made $325 million, The Polar Express made almost $300 million and has inexplicably become something of a holiday classic among gen z weirdos. Flight made something like $150 million on a $30 million budget and while both The Walk and Allied didn't do great they did seemingly break even. Welcome to Marwen is pretty much his only true bomb as a director.

That one was probably closer to being an underperformer as it made about $200 million worldwide on a $150 million budget. With Hollywood accounting that probably isn't considered a success, but it's not career ending either.

I like Beowulf. You can tell he'd been itching to make it for years.
Maybe his last passion project.

I saw Beowulf in theaters.
Haven't thought of it since.

I remember skipping some college classes to go watch the new 3d movie.
Actually threw it on the other day to see how it's aged... And the answer is not well. Story might be solid but it looks extremely awkward. Uncanny valley vibes from the get go.

I also remember liking it at the time but have not once had the slightest desire to revisit it.

I haven't watched any of Zemeckis' motion capture films, but after the Polar Express clip that Neverending showed me I think I'll keep it that way.

I haven't watched any of Zemeckis' motion capture films, Me neither, despite taking a cheap shot at them in a video essay.

For whatever reason, my Mom loves The Polar Express, it's one of her favorite Christmas movies, so I have to endure parts of it at least twice every December. I'll say this for that movie, though: I do legit like the visual aesthetic of it -- not the animation itself, but rather the use of colors it has. It gives off a very warm, Christmas-like feel. But beyond that, that movie does absolutely nothing for me. I do like Beowulf and A Christmas Carol, though.

The parts of it that aren't human beings do look quite nice... but those things walking around the movie pretending to be people are nightmare fuel. I genuinely do not get why so many people like that movie. It would be like fuckin' Cats becoming a cult classic.

Disney's new streaming app star should be announced soon.
Was hoping they would use hulu as a dumping ground but they are gonna make us buy star to get their adult stuff. Wonder what they charge for it.

I've seen a few episodes of SG1 when it was on Syfy. I love sci-fi shows but couldn't get into it. Seemed fine, just plain. Never watched Atlantis or Universe.
I might have to start at the beginning and see if it grows on me.

'90s Robert Rodriguez would be so ashamed of what he becomes. I know I am.
