Netflix has crossed into Hulu territory. 13 Reasons Why is HUGE, almost Adam Sandler huge. GirlBoss has some good pervy stuff in it.

Yeah I should have noted that the main difference is that Netflix still crushes because the original series they have that are popular are very, very popular like House of Cards, OITNB, Stranger Things etc. but their batting average is going down some.

Even their lesser stuff, like Fuller House and One Day at a Time, are still popular. Their biggest failure was probably Lilihammer and that shit still got 3 seasons. The truth is that Netflix has A LOT of foreign deals that keep these shows alive. It's like the CW. If it wasn't for the foreign market that channel would have seized to exist years ago.

Netflix has remade One Day at a Time? I'd missed that somehow. I guess it didn't get the same level of hype as Fuller House or Girl Meets World. I never missed that show, having a serious thing for Valerie Bertinelli. I was determined to make her mine, but it was really hard to compete with Eddie Van Halen.

That would be weird. I see they kept the theme song, and have Gloria Estefan singing it. I switched it off after the first scene was over. Very generic. The original was probably very generic too, but you don't notice that sort of thing when you're in elementary school.

It kind of bummed me out because I was a mild fan of Boy Meets World back in the day, although I admit I only caught a handful of episodes of Girl, just to check it out. I guess the ratings weren't where they were supposed to be. Yeah, I missed the news of a One Day At a Time remake too. I'll probably never watch that.

I let my netflix subscription cancel itself. Bob's Burgers is gone and I just don't watch enough else to justify keeping it around. Maybe when season 2 of Stranger Things comes out I'll reactivate it.

Yeah, so I guess we'll be at the point where every studio has its own service and we either have to subscribe to them all or cut out swaths of films. Sigh.

In the short term, this looks like what's going to happen. I don't think it's going to last, though. The studios are going to discover that there aren't enough people willing to pay a monthly fee for their shows, then they'll wind up going back to Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu or whatever.

Or a thing called cable Cable will certainly remain a thing, just like AOL still has customers for their dial-up internet service. AOL is expected to stick around until there aren't enough subscribers still alive to pay the bills, then it will die with them. The same fate awaits cable.

What will you call it when a company offers all the streaming services in a bundle?

Honestly because it is going to do an ESPN package I can see this succeeding. Even though Disney stock is faultering because of the ESPN arm not doing well, this is what cord cutters have wanted.
I may just invest a bit in Disney, I can also see them making a play to buy Netflix ala marvel and lucasfilm, prob wait a few years to buy them out though see if Netflix loses all deals with other major studios.
Still hate this though, old guard hasn't quite gotten rid of the whole fuck the consumer mindset.

I didn't realize that sports came with the Disney streaming service. If that's the case, they've got a shot at making a go of it. I guess it will depend on whether or not the entire Disney/Buena Vista catalog of movies and TV shows comes with it. If so, that's a lot of programming. Could be worth it to some. Not me, but some.

I kind of doubt that they're going to literally remove all Disney content from every single other platform. Like, Disney has had a cable channel for years but that hasn't meant their stuff doesn't play on HBO as well sometimes.

Like, Disney has had a cable channel for years but that hasn't meant their stuff doesn't play on HBO as well sometimes. Disney Channel keeps it G rated. ABC Family will go as far as PG-13. But their Touchstone and Marvel stuff do air on other channels. They might take that model online or their streaming service will be divided by brand.

Wyldstaar, you're insane if you think cable is ever going away. Cable, in its current form, will cease to exit. There's no doubt there will be bundling of the streaming services and that will be the new cable.
