I've never seen Scrooged... I enjoyed it. Predictable in the sense of it's like the 100th film version of A Christmas Carol, but Murray is awesome in it and Donner directs some funny scenes. Not sure why they're putting it on Instant Watch in April, but it's enjoyable enough entertainment.

Not sure why they're putting it on Instant Watch in April I'm almost certain that the movie is already on Instant and Netflix just auto-renewed it. I've seen that happen from time to time.

Scrooged is my favourite Christmas movie, but I'm well aware that that's at least 75% down to nostalgia.
I predict a 'D+ so says Doomsday'. Assuming he watches it, that is. Which he definitely shouldn't until late December.

Scrooged is my favorite Christmas movie. The boys at the school yard disagreed.

Netflix made a billion dollar deal with the CW. For the next 5 years, all their scripted shows will be available to stream and new seasons of their current programs will be released in June.

And the thundering noise of crickets greets this news. As crazy as it may sound, in terms of quantity, the CW is the best network at the moment. ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox have a lot of shit on the air. But everything on the CW is actually... pretty good. Netflix wouldn't have spent a billion dollars on 5 year rights if they felt it was a bad investment.

I only watch a couple shows from the CW. Supernatural (which I'm having trouble continuing) and Fool Us.

I watch six CW shows (counting Whose Line and now Supergirl) but I'm caught up on all of them, and typically catch all episodes live anyway.

I stopped watching Arrow - and I think a lot of people will too. But The Flash and Supergirl I watch live and iZombie, The 100 and Supernatural are background shows. So I'll probably use Netflix to catch up on Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

I know I'm one of the few who still likes Arrow, but I don't care. Season 4 did have some stupid stuff here and there, but overall, I enjoyed it a hell of a lot. And I gotta say, in spite of an anti-climatic season finale, Season 11 of Supernatural wound up being one of my favorite seasons of the show thus far.
I've kind of been meaning to try out The 100 and iZombie.

It IS crazy that the show is still on the air. In 2005 if you had told me the show would still be around in 12 years I'd ask what you were smoking.

It WILL be interesting to see what the total season count for Supernatural will end up being. Like NCIS, it just seems to be unstoppable.

Interesting, though it's hard to get excited when the library only has 3 films in it so far! So far looks like a lot of what Criterion and their Eclipse series already offer, but if they can separate themselves from Criterion with some interesting titles I might try it out.

Eventually, Hulu will lose Criterion and it'll all be on Filmstruck.

I don't know, between the library and Netflix (discs) I already have some access to a whole lot of Criterion stuff and if all this service offers is a whole lot of Criterion I don't think it will be worth it.
I just cannot be subscribing to ten different streaming services at the same time, that shit adds up. At the moment I'm pretty satisfied just subscribing to Netflix for my streaming needs, between that and cable I'm pretty much set for whatever instant gratification I need and I can just use netflix's disc catalog for any title's that aren't available for streaming/VOD.

I beta tested FilmStruck. It's a pretty cool service with a lot more to offer than just Criterion. There were plenty of obscure, overlooked films too. I'm not so sure about the price since I already pay for Netflix and Hulu. If Hulu loses Criterion though, then I guess I'll have to bite the bullet. There are other services like MUBI which are cheaper and provide hand selected films that are almost always great. They are only shown for a limited time though, so I guess that's a drawback.

MUBI seems like a cool service but I don't know that it would ever fit with my lifestyle. I let stuff sit in my queue until just the right moment when I have the time for and am in the mood for art cinema. Having a ticking clock forcing me to watch something before it leaves the service feels kind of like a return to the bad old days of having to watch something within five days before having to get a video back to Blockbuster.

Waitasec, Dracula still does the Netflix disc option? Honestly I forgot they even still offered that. Of course I do. You think there's a steaming that's going to allow me to see every Disney movie? To get a copy of The Exorcist 2 when I need it? Allow me to do a Ken Loach retrospective at will? Keep up with all the new releases on DVD? Frankly I don't know how any true film buff can manage to live without it. It's pretty much the only service that lets you watch more or less whatever you want without having to worry who has the rights to what. If given a choice of giving up the streaming option vs giving up the discs I'd still sacrifice steaming first in a heartbeat.

I'll be the first to point out that Netflix is really a lackluster streaming service nowadays. Yes it's the main name in the game but of all the streaming services I subscribe to (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and HBO) it's maybe my least fav. Or to put it differently, it's the least watched.
