I don't get why it was just some rubble that crushed cersei. I mean I remember the prophecy... Something about crumbling buildings will crush you was it? As a counterpoint, I think this was the way to kill her. This way it was a downfall she brought upon herself. The was trapped and was forced to accept the fact that she was going to die, and it was her fault. She has been so good throughout the series of denying and ignoring the bad things around her, but she can't do that at the end. Much more satisfying than just having someone kill her.

And to think, we all thought they were playing coy and leaving the Valonqhar out because it would be too obvious.

They picked one of the worst characters of the whole series to be king. Figures.
Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire are still the champs of HBO.

Bran a much bigger deal in the books and the ending would have made sense. Curious if they had to contractually following Martin’s proposed ending. Obvious they preferred Jon Snow.

I was gonna say, I'm fine with Bran being king. It makes sense, but he should have had his moment prior to this. He had an interesting character arc, going from almost pointless to a potential game-changer-badass, and it felt like they were shaping him up to be this fantastical badass. A character that would be essential to turning the tides of some crucial battles. But... it never happened. He just sat around for the last couple seasons. Seriously, how do you have a character who can take over the minds of animals and just have him sit around doing fuck all? How did it not occur to them even once that he needed to take over a dragon at one point or another? So that's an issue. He never had his moment. A moment that makes you go "Yes, make him king, he's awesome and did awesome things, plus, of course, being super knowledged". So yes, Bran as king makes sense, and I'm sure that's who Martin told them would end up on the throne, but they sidelined him for some reason.
When it came to whatever GRRM told them about where the characters ended up and who lived and died and how, great information I'm sure, right? Except they apparently had absolutely no idea whatsoever how to tell their stories that lead up to those moments, without his books or guidance. Almost completely oblivious in a way. It's the only explanation as to why they didn't take advantage of being able to do more episodes in these last two seasons, despite HBO offering them more episodes. You know, more episodes where they could have better developed these new character arcs.
So yeah, I also enjoyed the final episode. It felt good, from a perspective that it could have potentially been a great ending, imo. Unfortunately they fucked up all the prior episodes so much that it ultimately didn't really matter if the final episode was good or not. I don't think it was nearly enough to make up for any of it.

Damn that actually wasn't terrible.... Color ME SURPRISED!~!~
- Drogon is the character that has the most sense in the episode. he didn’t kill jon for killing daenerys, instead, he destroys the one thing that caused all this tragedy in the first place. I admit it’s a pretty poetic end to the throne. Hope Drogon lives a good life away from the bullshit that is Westoros.
- Bran: I can never be Lord of Winterfell, I can never be Lord of anything, I'm the three-eyed raven. Also Bran: I'm the King. LOL!
- Can't believe Sam invented democracy and they all laughed, but then they thought "Hmm yes, this insane teenager who stares at us all the time...my liege."
- Tyrion said in S5 that some maesters believe dragons are more intelligent than humans. I think Drogon’s choice to destroy the Iron Throne proves that may be true. Drogon understood that what Jon did was necessary. He knew that power lust had completely consumed his mother, so instead of killing Jon, he decided to destroy the symbol of what truly took his mother from him.
This season got a lot of flack for bad writing, and I agree with some of that criticism, but that moment and really this episode in general was absolutely brilliant.

Whole lotta fan service.
Endings are hard though. This didn't satisfy me much but rarely do epics end well. Seems more like they just got sick of writing it and wrapped it up asap.
Doesn't make sense for westeros lords to allow starks to be king of the 6 and separate for their own kingdom. Why wouldn't the others do that? Why would dorne or the iron islands agree to being under the thumb of the broken king? I just don't think this would be how it went down.
And the republic they have established can still fall into chaos for a few jealous leaders who want the throne. The wheel is still in tact.
It was never gonna satisfy me but I just didn't think it would be so rushed. Should have made sense in the context of the story.
The whole book name drop was a bit eye rolly. And no mention of Tyrion is purely fan service again as his capture was the beginning of this whole thing to start and hell he murdered tywin plunging the realm into chaos. Bronn on the small council was just more insane fan service. I felt assured we were gonna get another mention of big dick pod just to get another wink to the most basic of fans.
Yawn. Endings suck. This one's no different but I suppose it could be much worse.

Not a good finale in my book. Obvious, contrived, and resoundingly dull. All of the elements that made this show incredible for so many years were just brushed aside for happy endings and simple outcomes for complex situations. Two weeks in a row of losing big players in Cersei and Dany with underwhelming ends to their arcs. I think people have a right to be moderately upset about this episode, it was possibly the worst of the entire series.

Really? People disliked the finale that much? It was never going to satisfy the hardcore fans. Honestly I can’t blame them, since they stopped following the books. The quality of the show was on a downward spiral. I still think the last episode was one of the worst. This was just... okay
