As promised, I have returned with strange haunted doll case #2 Annabelle: The Devil Doll25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mavdvkx65y1ry6g43o1_400.jpgNote The Devil Tarot card on the right side of the case - "A reversed pentagram, with two points projecting upwards, is a symbol of evil and attracts sinister forces because it overturns the proper order of things and demonstrates the triumph of matter over spirit. It is the goat of lust attacking the heavens with its horns, a sign execrated by initiates."Annabelle innocently sits in a custom made protective case in the Warren's Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut, a lovely large Raggedy-Ann doll, with a sign above that reads, "DANGER! Do Not Touch ANYTHING!", and another below that adds, "WARNING Positively Do Not Open Case."Oh, they're not protecting her from you, should you be a curious visitor or thief, they're protecting you from HER! Back in 1970 a woman stopped into a hobby store and purchased a Raggedy-Ann doll for her college aged daughter's birthday. Donna, who was almost set to get her nursing degree, was very pleased with the doll and set her on her bed as a decoration in her apartment where she lived with her roommate, Angie, and another friend named Lou. She thought nothing of it until a few days later when they noticed the doll was sitting with her legs crossed - neither person had moved it. Later on it had moved again crossing both her arms and legs this time. This became even more puzzling when they started finding the doll in a different room when they came back to the apartment. Not only did it appear in a different room, - next, it was sitting on the couch, this time with it's arms and legs crossed again. Once they found it standing up in the dining room leaning against a chair. Very odd. Occasionally Donna would leave it on the couch in the living room only to return to find it in her bedroom with the door closed. About a month into all of this they found a parchment with the pencil scribbling of a child upon it that read, "Help us" and "Help Lou". This was extremely disturbing because the parchment did not come from their apartment - they did not own any parchment, they wrote on paper as everyone in their day and age did. They began to think someone was entering their apartment while they were out and trying to scare them with moving the doll around and such, so they set up little traps to find out if someone had entered from the outside - just little things that only they would notice that were different had someone been in there. Nothing they set up was ever disturbed. Next when they arrived home, Donna found something really disturbing - there was the doll on her bed - with what looked like drops of blood on the back of its hands and its chest! They knew they had to seek help to figure out what was happening, so they got in touch with a medium who agreed to come and perform a seance. The medium came into contact with someone who claimed to be a seven year old girl named Annabelle Higgins. Annabelle told them that she lived on the grounds there long before the apartments were built, and that one day her body had been found on the land where the apartment now stood. Annabelle also said that she liked Donna and Angie, and wanted to stay with them and be loved. Donna was very touched and agreed that Annabelle was welcome to stay as long as she liked. Lou had a different opinion as he was very spooked by everything that had been going on and told the two he believed the doll was evil and they should get rid of it - but being outvoted, Annabelle stayed. Not long after, Lou experienced a reoccurring frightening dream - until one night in the middle of a deep sleep he suddenly felt quite awake, but unable to move. Looking around the room, he couldn't see much of anything - then he saw that Annabelle was at the foot of his bed, next thing he knew she was slowly floating up his leg and onto his chest - and it stopped - all at once he was being strangled! Unable to move or breathe he came to the point of asphyxiation and blacked out! Lou woke the next morning feeling very certain it was not a dream - and he was determined that that doll had to leave! The next morning he was preparing for a trip and looking at a road map with Angie when they heard a rustling from the bedroom. Lou got up to investigate, but waited until the noise had stopped. When he entered the room he found the doll lying on the floor in a heap - but there was no sign of forced entry - when he got closer to the doll, he felt someone behind him - he quickly turned around, but no one was there. Suddenly Lou felt a harsh burning on his chest and he was bleeding - looking at his chest he had seven slashes upon it that looked like claw marks - three vertical and four horizontal. The wounds suddenly stopped bleeding and were completely healed as quickly as two days later. It was time for more professional help - now they believed that this was not a spirit of a child - but an inhuman - one who had never been born. They called in an Episcopal priest, Father Hegan, who then decided he should call upon a higher authority in the church and contacted Father Cooke. Father Cooke contacted the Warrens. Ed and Loraine Warren were experts in the field of the paranormal - he being a demonologist and she being a psychic medium - they were quite knowledgeable and had a great deal of experience in the field. When contacted, they immediately came to the conclusion that this was an inhuman manifestation. But these demonic entities don't really possess dolls - they are more interested in possessing humans. This one had attached itself to the doll with the purpose of winning favor with the human inhabitants of the apartment - in order to eventually overcome, corrupt and possess one of them. Donna had made a big mistake by inviting it to stay. It had moved the doll in order to get it's intended victims interested enough to call a medium so it could communicate with them, It then prayed upon their sympathies with a false story of innocence lost. After being invited it grew in strength and would have most likely succeeded in possessing one of them in a few more weeks - if not actually killing all of them. The Warrens advised them that they should have the apartment exorcised by Father Cooke - and reluctantly he complied and performed the long seven page ritual which had the emphasis, not on getting rid of the infestation, but rather filling the apartment with the positive power of God. In addition, and in order for it not to happen again, Donna asked the Warrens to take the doll with them - and they did. Ed Warren put the doll in the back seat, as it made Lorraine very uncomfortable - and on the way home - Ed began to have problems steering the car, swerving left and right with the breaks failing, he narrowly missed driving off the road and headlong into the trees or something. Also, along the way the car started to sputter and stalled out - Ed had had enough, got out of the car, opened the door to the back seat and splashed the doll with holy water in the sign of the cross. The rest of their trip was uneventful. Reaching home, they had experienced more strangeness - after a few days, the doll levitated from the chair Ed had set it in. It also began switching rooms again when they had left and returned to the house. They tried to lock it in the outer office only to find it in Ed's easy chair when they arrived home again. After several weeks of this, a Father Bradford visited the house. The Father happened to be a Catholic exorcist but he should have known better than to pick up the doll and say, " You're just a ragdoll Annabelle, you can't hurt anyone." The breaks on his car failed on the way home as he entered into a busy intersection - his car was totaled in the accident. On a personal note, my sister attended a speaking engagement that the Warren's held in Worcester, Massachusetts where she attended college. At the lecture they spoke of Annabelle, and told of a story when another visitor came to their house. I think Ed was the one at home, and he was showing the visitor their collection of artifacts, when the phone rang. He cautioned the man not to touch the doll, and left him alone to answer the call. Shortly thereafter, Ed saw the man running for the door without so much as a word when he left in such a hurry. They built the special case, as I mentioned at the beginning of this story, and put the doll in their Museum of the Occult - where you can pay a (for @$100/person) visit to see Annabelle to this day, and receive a dinner, and personal guided tour of the complete collection of unholy artifacts at the museum by Lorraine Warren according to their schedule of events. Whether or not you believe in this, or any other tale of evil, please note that one man visited the museum with his girlfriend and scoffed at the warnings given on the tour. He walked up to Annabelle's case and tapped on the glass, daring the doll to scratch him. The man was escorted out by Ed Warren who told the man he shouldn't have done that, and warned him to be careful. Three hours later, he slammed his motorcycle into a tree and was killed instantly - his girlfriend survived. I don't know about you, but I'd be sure to mind my manners if I ever visited Annabelle. Better safe than dead, don't you think? (Now move along and stay safely behind the rope )

Court NewsFinally they are doing final arguments in the Jodi Arias trial! In Florida v George Zimmerman - he is pleading Self Defense instead of using the Stand Your Ground plea. This means he will go in front of a jury and have a trial - HOWEVER - at anytime during that trial, he can invoke the Stand Your Ground law which will bring the trial to a halt and grant him immunity against a prosecution for the crime. Then he would go in front of a judge for a hearing to state his case (no jury). That Stand Your Ground law is so messed up - I don't believe they really thought that through and worked out all the bugs to have passed it already. Dias Kadyrbayev and Azamat Tazhayakov (friends and college mates of the bomber) are being charged with obstruction of justice for taking the Boston Bomber's computer, a backpack, and several other items (including Vaseline which is used so that when someone works on a bomb, there is no spark of friction created that could set off the explosion prematurely) - the backpack also contained emptied fireworks rockets. They were previously told by their bomber friend that he knew how to build a bomb, but apparently did not think he would actually do that at the time - however now they are charged because they (apparently now) knowingly tossed the stuff in the dump to cover for their friend. A third friend has been charged with lying to feds. The FBI has recovered the computer - that will be invaluable in putting all their communications and thoughts together and tell them how and who planned the bombing.Final Arguments are done in the Jodie Arias case. The defense was all smoke and mirrors trying to distract the jurors with things of no consequence to the case. The prosecution did an excellent job in drawing clear lines to connect the dots. I think she should at least get life, and I doubt it will take too long for them to come back with a verdict. Arizona v Jodie AriasAfter deliberating for longer than the Casey Anthony case and the OJ trial combined - there is a verdict and that verdict is going to be announced at 4:30pm Eastern Guilty first degree murder! She will spend the rest of her life in prison - Death Penalty yet to be decided within the next weeks ==================== Other court news - Ariel Castro is being charged with 4 counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape in the decade long Cleveland case where the three women and one child finally escaped. The other two Castro brothers are not being charged for the kidnapping at this time, apparently they did not know what their younger brother was doing. They do have outstanding warrants for misdemeanors that they will be arraigned for tomorrow as well.Wow, the cam whore can't get enough publicity can she? 20 minutes after conviction the murderer speaks to Fox in Phoenix www.myfoxphoenix.com/story/22200056/2013/05/08/jodi-arias-talks-exclusively-with-fox-10-after-verdictWell now, I haven''t posted anything new in quite some time. Got sidetracked - working on a new story though - meanwhile... Court NewsJodie Arias was found to have committed a crime worthy of death penalty consideration so now the third phae begins with mitigating circumstances and victim (family) statements. Jodie has reopened her Twitter and has had a friend posting more garbage for her - she loves being in the spotlight. EDIT - forgot to mention she has been barred from making TV interviews until further notice - and her attorneys tried to get released from the case once again siting what she said in her interview as being impossible to defend - once again, they were denied being released from their duty. In the George Zimmernan case, set to begin next month, the defense wants the potential jurors sequestered before any are selected - highly unusual. They also want to let them have a tour of the site in person so they can actually see the layout. In the Ariel Castro Kidnapping and rape abuse case - he is claiming he is innocent, and his lawyers say he's not a monster - right, now pull the other one. James Holmes is pleading insanity - duh. I don't think he'll fit the legal definition though EDIT - OJ Simpson is in court again seeking to get out due to being ineffectively represented in trial - he is serving a 30 year sentence and has been in for 5 of that already - little chance of getting ma new trial based on his argument

Well now, ghost writers - haunted dolls - there are supposedly all kinds of manifestations of spirits or entities from 'the other side'. Another major category of hauntings is the Poltergeist or "noisy ghost". One such event that made a stir in the news took place on Long Island - not far from the Amityville horror house actually ( about 7 miles away)....read on... They're Heeere! - part 1 Seaford, Long Island began its existence as Jerusalem South around the 1640's. Before that the land was settled by the Marsapeaques a local Indian tribe, as was much of Long Island. The name of Jerusalem South was changed in honor of Captain John Seaman, a native of Seaford, East Sussex, in England in 1868. Many of its buildings have remained largely unchanged and the village grew to be a popular summer residence for many people. February 3, 1958 A clear and cold afternoon, Mrs. Herrmann was at home waiting for her two children Lucille, 13, and James, 12 to come home from school. Soon after they arrived at their typical 50's white and green ranch style house at 1648 Redwood Path - things were anything but typical. Arriving in the kitchen, they were suddenly surprised to hear a collection of loud popping noises from various rooms around the house. No one saw anything actually move or knew what the sound could be until they went to check around the house. A bottle of bleach, a bottle of liquid soap in the utility room, shampoo bottles, medicine bottles, and on and on... all of them with screw on tops that had apparently burst off in a massive explosion of spewing liquid, their contents spilled all over. Mrs. Herrmann called her husband who worked at the airport in NYC, to tell him of the strange occurrence, but seeing as how no one was hurt, he stayed at work until his shift was over and then headed for home. When he got there he was certain that there was some sort of logical explanation - perhaps the humidity - that caused the bottles to blow their tops - although strange they all did it at the same time. He could find no reason for it though, and since all the commotion and excitement of the afternoon had settled down, they went about their evening thinking no more about it.. Two days later there was a repeat performance at about the same time of day when the children came home from school - a bottle of nail polish, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, Bleach, detergent, and starch... even a vial of holy water...all popped. Friday night - it happened again. James Herrmann began to think his science loving son, James Jr had somehow rigged the events. Mr. Herrmann watched his son all weekend to try and figure out how he had done it. Sunday - February 9, when several caps popped off bottles of starch, turpentine and holy water and left their containers rocking back and forth. The elder Herrmann burst into the bathroom where his son was brushing his teeth, and accused him of rigging the bottles - while his son vehemently denied having done so...a bottle of medicine moved across the sink and fell into the basin, and then a bottle of shampoo moved across the sink and fell onto the floor. Mr. Herrmann examined the bathroom for wires or strings but found none, and decided to call the police - not knowing what else to do. At first they thought he was drunk or tired, but they promised to send out a patrolman. Patrolman James Hughes arrived at the address and took their statements - while wondering how did he get all the nut cases? Until several bottles in the bathroom he examined, popped their tops in his direction. Detective Joseph Tozzi was assigned to look into the case. Detective Tozzi went to physically examine the scene on February 11th after reading the report, figuring he would find some natural phenomenon, or mass hallucination going on. By the 15th only a bottle of perfume tipped over in Lucille's room, But there had been quite a bit happening around the vial of holy water - it had popped it's top, and had been found tossed onto the floor after they had heard the thud from another room. Later on that day the children were watching TV with a cousin and a porcelain figure rose from the coffee table hovered in the air and moved to fall to the rug on the floor. After that, Mr Herrmann contacted Father William McLeod of the Church of St. William the Abbott. The Father sprinkled holy water in each room blessing the house, but it seemed that "Popper" (as they had started calling whatever was causing caps to pop off) didn't want to go. The news broke and suddenly the house was surrounded by TV, radio, and newspaper reporters, cameras, and curiosity seekers all day long. Letters and phone calls poured in - every theory from an Indian burial ground to the Russians were tunneling under Long Island was offered. Geological surveys, everything swamped the Herrmanns who listened to it all calmly. People claiming to be religious leaders came to pray on the lawn for forgiveness for the family - for whatever it was that they were supposed to have done for Satan or whoever. Someone with dowsing rods thought there had been underground streams causing disturbances, but there were no streams according to geological surveys. The detective called the Air Force to see if any of their sonic booms could have effected the area, but nothing was found in examination of that possibility. As his file on the case grew bigger and bigger. One big hope the Herrmann family had was the idea from a letter that one woman had had experienced moving furniture in her home - she had solved her problem by installing a rotary metal turbine on the top of the chimney to stop downdrafts. James Herrmann quickly had one installed himself to try and solve the problem here as well, but another porcelain statue hurled itself 12 feet from a table to smash against the side of a wooden desk and shatter. The dent was televised all over New York. On February 20th another figure smashed against the desk, a bottle of ink splashed against a wall, and the detective watched as a bowl of sugar flew to be smashed to pieces. February 24th - a bookcase in James Jr's room fell over flat on the floor when no one had been in there. A 12 inch statue of Mary flew over 12 feet to hit a mirror frame, Jr's record player lifted up and flew 15 feet - a heavy glass centerpiece flew up and struck a cupboard, chipped some of the molding and fell to the floor. a world globe just missed Detective Tozzi, John Gold from the London Evening News witnessed flashbulbs lift off a table and smash against a wall. Popper it seems got a little more violent, and also started banging on walls for attention. Tozzi was at a loss for explaining the escalation to the activity .... (end of part 1)

Popper the Polterguest part 2 Enter the staff of scientists at the Parapsychology Laboratory at Duke University, North Carolina under the leadership of Dr. J.B. Rhine. This team of scientists had been studying various related phenomenon including psychokinesis. They believed that in some circumstances a young person could influence objects to move slightly without physical contact. One theory says it is usually an adolescent girl in the height of puberty who would be found to be the center of activity, but this could not be said about the Herrmann's Popper - most of the activity surrounded James Jr. The Detective calculated he was around in 75% of the events that had happened. Other researchers thought that, since it had manipulated the holy water and the Virgin Mary figure, that it might be more of a traditional Poltergeist . Dr. J. Gaither Pratt, an associate of Dr. Rhine, was welcomed into the Herrmann home just as everyone else had, as they were desperate for answers. He spent a great deal of time with James jr. Playing cards, helping him with is homework - but nothing happened - Popper was quiet. Other scientists were called in to interview each of the family members to eliminate or prove a hoax - “The family was much too shaken for it to be a colossal hoax,” Pratt told a United Press reporter. Popper was silent and not performing for the researchers, until March 2, one month after he'd first arrived with his top popping. Everyone was in the house to witness a dish being forcibly tossed to shatter on the floor - a night table in James' room flipped over. Two days later a bowl of flowers slid down the table and jumped into the air - and finally a bookcase in the cellar flipped end over end. And still, no explanation as to who or what it was Then on March 10th the researchers and everyone except Mr. Herrmann , who was away overnight, Heard one last loud pop! They found that a bottle of bleach sitting in a box in the cellar had lost its plastic top. 67 recorded disturbances between February 3 and March 10 and no one was able to come up with a real explanation of what had happened . Not detectives, building inspectors, electricians, plumbers, firemen, parapsychologists or half of the “nutcases” on the east coast who came to visit and inspect the premises ever figured out the cause. As of 1985 the team from Duke University still had had no answers - The Herrmanns were just glad that it was over and that their lives had gotten back to normal. There is a third possibility. Had unusual high electrical fields played a part? John Hutchison is a Vancouver scientist who was experimenting with high voltage fields - the sort of things Tesla coils generate. One day around 1978 he was hit in the shoulder with a piece of metal while experimenting in his lab. He tossed the object back to where it came from, and it hit him again. He had discovered what is now called The Hutchison Effect. He has even shown under the right circumstances it can apply to non- metallic objects as well - Styrofoam cups have been made to fly randomly about for one. He also found that it did not work without someone actually in the room - strange, but very similar to poltergeist activity. While he may look like a loon, his discovery has been the interest of several countries - his work also has deadly war potential - the government has shut down and destroyed at least three of his labs as he moved from place to place to experiment. He is now allowed to roam about basically untouched while he gives his lectures all over the place. Some of his work has not been able to be reproduced by others leading to claims of hoax, Hutchinson claims that the government has made him change or omit portions of his experiments ... I bet they are still interested in him. And watching.

As promised a long time ago - finally - The Exorcist - the real deal: Part One.
"My own thoughts were that much good might have come if the case had been reported, and people had come to realize that the presence and activity of the Devil is something very real... and possibly never more real than at the present time. I can assure you of one thing: The case in which I was involved the real thing. I had no doubt about it then and I have no doubt about it now." --Father William Bowdern. (February 13, 1897 - April 25, 1983)
"I have no idea what was really going on in that hospital room but I can tell you the things that I heard coming from behind that door scared the hell out of me!" - A former employee of the Alexian Brothers Hospital
“My bed was shaking. I can't get to sleep.” - Linda Blair, The Exorcist
There are some conflicting details from different accounts, but in most cases the details are similar. It began in a Washington suburb, like the movie, But not in Georgetown where the famous staircase is located. It was most likely Mount Rainier, but the family also lived in a house in Cottage City - that house was occupied by a different family in 1950, and burned down in 1950 - according to an unnamed source who grew up in the neighborhood - the other house still exists. The subject in the movie is a girl, but in the case that gave it inspiration the subject was a young boy who was born in 1936. He has been given a couple of psudonyms "Roland 0r Robbie Doe and John Hoffman among them. William Peter Blatty's book is mainly based on “Robbie's” case, but also drew some elements of a 1928 case of exorcism in Iowa. What follows is a summary of the events alleged and sworn to have happened in 1949....at least as close to the facts as can be found.
The disturbances began in January of 1949 with scratching sounds coming from the walls and ceiling, yet when an exterminator was called - no sign of pests such as rodents were found. Sometime later there were sounds of walking in empty hallways, along with dishes being moved to other locations. The boy's bed began to move so much that his sleep was disturbed - the sheets were pulled from the bed by something unseen - once when the boy tried to hold onto them he ended up on the floor as well.
People began to think there might be some sort of connection between what was happening and the recent death of the boy's Aunt “Tillie”, a spiritualist who had often used a Quija Board with the boy - although she died on January 26th after the scratching had started - so it wasn't her... directly...maybe their use of the board? (in the movie the girl starts communication with a "Captain Howdy" using a Ouija board alone)
The boy and his aunt were exceptionally close and often used the board, held seances and spoke of the spirit world. The boy held onto the board as a source of comfort when he had heard that his aunt had died, and he used it alone over and over again desperately trying to contact her. This was roughly about the same time as the scratching started. Stamping on the floor did not cause any rodents to scurry or become silent, the noise continued as it had been. The boy heard squeaking like the sound of shoes – all this he reported to his parents because it had initially been only around his room.
According to “the priests diary”(a record of events made by a Jesuit priest I will name later) the boy's mother joined in trying the board with her son and his grandmother to ask the aunt, if that's who it was, to stop. She asked aloud for the spirit to knock three times if it were really her. A wave of air rushed over them and three knocks were heard against the floor. She asked for four knocks, and four came in reply. The bed began to shake and the edges of the covers that were tucked under the mattress jerked out and stood out as if they had been starched, but when they touched them they fell limp as normal.
Friends and neighbors later asked about the residence said they hadn't heard a thing. Some do remember the boy being sick and having to go to St Louis. Others described the boy as a problem child smothered by an over religious mother and his spiritualist aunt. The rest had either no opinion, or thought he had mental problems.
At Bladensburg Junior High School he wasn't a great student, he was also a loner. And actually when these events started happening in January and February he was removed from class after an incident where his desk and chair unit slid into the aisle and began bumping into other student's school desks. He claimed to the teacher that he wasn't doing it and couldn't stop it either. Poltergeist like activity began to happen there and at home with books, and coat hangers flying about when he was near, clothing scattered about his bedroom when no one had been there. Even the kitchen table had flipped over while he was present. The boy's chair tipped over dumping him on the floor in front of visiting relatives, and then a vase lifted up and smashed against a wall. A rocking chair was seen to spin around and around with the boy in it and his feet were not on the floor.
It was time to have the boy examined by experts. According to some sources – the boy was examined by a doctor, psychologist, and psychiatrist. According to others, his mother contacted a spiritualist as well.
The mother contacted the pastor of their Lutheran church, that is certain. His grandmother was a practicing Catholic until her teenage years, and his father never really was all that religious, but his mother was deeply religious. Reverend Luther Shultze visited and allegedly witnessed some of the poltergeist-like phenomenon. He didn't believe it, and thought that it must be the work of some creative prankster, but soon changed his mind and promised the family he would do what he could to help. Martin Luther believed that exorcism was more for show and put the devil in too much of a spotlight so to speak. He believed that prayer and contempt was a better solution against Satan, so that is what Shultze tried. Prayers did nothing and activity continued, but Shultze still didn't quite believe that the boy was possessed, but he did believe in some parapsychology, especially psychokinesis and considered that, but kept that to himself. He wanted to make sure the house wasn't in the midst of a “haunting”. So in order to determine if it was the house or the boy, he offered to have the boy stay at his home – if nothing else, the boy might get a good night's sleep.
The activity started again as the boy was in bed, it started shaking. Trying to remain calm the reverend took the boy into the kitchen for some cocoa. Next he suggested the boy sleep in the easy chair – that began to move and unceremoniously the chair tipped and the boy was dumped onto the floor again. The chair had a low center of gravity and as the reverend tested it, he found it could not have tipped as it had done. The boy's feet were not even on the floor. Lastly they set up a pile of blankets on the floor for him to sleep on, and he watched the boy until they both fell asleep...then the reverend saw something as he drifted off. The boy in the blankets and all were sliding across the floor, yet nothing was pushing them and the blankets did not even wrinkle. The blankets moved under the bed and the boy's head was repeatedly slammed against the bed springs. The reverend was becoming more convinced that something paranormal was going on and consulted an expert from Duke University that he was familiar with.
On February 26th something changed – scratches appeared on the boy's chest, arms, and legs, and they seemed to be random letters. And this is where several different stories split off in different directions – they are most likely not true and very exaggerated rumors, as rumors get as they pass from person to person.
What is documented is that the boy was checked into the hospital after about four nights of scratches in a row had appeared on his body. From February 28th 1949 to March 3rd 1949 “Robbie” was in the hospital. Doctors told them he seemed quite normal after they had examined him, and had no explanation for what was happening – the boy's hands were always visible when the scratching occurred under observation, and could not have been self inflicted.
His mother consulted a Father Hughes at the St. James Church and he reportedly advised her to use holy water, blessed candles, and special prayers to rid the boy of his problems – it did not work. After the boy was discharged, the family was off to St. Louis - “Robbie's” mother was from St Louis and thought the change might do some good – at least to get away from the hometown and neighbors. So they boarded a train for Missouri.

The Exorcist - the real deal: Part Two.“The power - of Christ - compels you! The power - of Christ - compels you! - The power of Christ - compels you!” - from The Exorcist “The bed - is on - my foot! The bed - is on - my foot! The bed - is on - my foot!” - from SNL Some of “Robbie's” family in St Louis were Catholic, and some of them were Lutheran but needless to say they were all interested in seeing the phenomena they had been told about – and certainly they were all scared. Before the Doe family arrival they consulted their minister, and unlike the previous Lutheran minister, he did not want any direct dealings with this case and advised them to take him to the Catholics. This situation did not dissuade the family from taking the boy in, they were very happy to receive him. All had hoped that being so far away from home would solve the problem – the first night however, showed that that was not to be. In the day he was relatively calm, and played with his cousin in the afternoon out in the yard when school let out. The adults discussed making the stay longer and the possibility of enrolling “Robbie” in his cousin's school. Then a shriek came from the next room – the boy lifted his shirt and everyone saw the words “NO SCHOOL” scratched into his chest. Later in the evening when the boys had been tucked into bed after the usual rough housing they had had before on other sleepovers; the parents were breathing a sigh of relief that things had been going smoothly since the incident. And then odd noises came from the room – following scratching sounds, the mattress was lifting and dropping under the two scared boys, the bed had begun moving, and a stool had flown across the room. The aunt and uncle were terrified and “Robbie's” parents were at a loss of what to do. “Robbie's" older cousin, who was a student at St Louis University, suggested she speak to one of the Jesuit instructors and they all agreed. The next day “Robbie's” cousin talked to her favorite teacher, Father Raymond J. Bishop, S.J. A kind man and a good listener who always had time for his students. She told him everything, and he listened to it all calmly. He told her he would get back to her as soon as possible. but he had to confer with other Jesuits first. Fr. Bishop got in touch with Father Laurence J. Kenny. S.J. Who had just retired from a history position at the university. He suggested they take the matter to the president of the university, Fr, Paul Reinert, S.J. The Jesuits are the intellectual part of the Catholic church – their history is mainly involved in books and establishing institutions of learning. Their fields of knowledge are wide and varied. They have often come into conflict with the Vatican in their ideas, and were banned for 47 years in 1773, but were eventually reestablished. Damage was done – books had been burned, some of their ideas were opposed in those years, and since then, they have attempted to make their voice known in some rather delicate subjects. That was what worried Fr. Reinert. He did not want this boy's situation to become entwined with what those at the university were trying to do at the time. The Jesuits were working to desegregate St Louis, and the process was slow and troublesome at best. Reinert told Bishop he would have to approach the Archbishop if this was a true case of possession, and this way he could remain out of it and tend to his administrator's duties. Fr. Bishop could have told the boy's cousin to go ask a priest at her parish and that would be the end of his responsibilities – but he went beyond that, and decided it was up to the Jesuit community to see this situation through to the end. He called his student back and informed her that he needed to see the boy as soon as possible, and arrangements were made. March 9th Fr, Bishop was picked up and driven to the house on 8435 Roanoke Drive... To Be Continued...

Had a later start than I had planned on this - internet connection was down last night.
The Exorcist: the Real Deal part three
“What an excellent day for an exorcism.” - The Exorcist
“...from this creature of God! Be gone! In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!” - the Exorcist
Father Bishop arrived in the early evening, and “Robbie's” cousin made introductions all around. First he conducted interviews with the family members to obtain some background information. They told him of the boy's aunt and his obsession with the Ouija board, about all the things that had happened at their home and at Reverend Schultze home.
The Fr. Bishop sat down with the boy alone – from his experience with teaching he didn't think that “Robbie” was a troublemaker – he seemed rather introverted and a great interest in reading comic books – but not the sort of boy who would have done all of the things he'd just heard. Loud, disagreeable, violent that didn't seem to be this boy, but it did sound like the early stages of possession.
The next thing the Father did was to and go from room to room and bless each area within the house, with his cross in one hand and sprinkling holy water, pausing to spend more time blessing the boy's room. This was the first step in trying to clear the house of any spirits that may be around the boy. This is what the bed shaking and so on seemed to be to Bishop, and he was advised by Fr. Reinert to try this mild round of prayers of blessing first..The phenomena had traveled with the boy from location to location according to the stories, so the Father doubted it would work, but it was worth trying. After the blessings were said, the Father took out a small bag that he had brought with him, and pinned it to “Robbie's” pillow. Within the bag was a second class relic of St. Margaret Mary – something that a saint had touched. A tiny bit of material in a glass case.
There are different levels listed in the works pertaining to exorcism, the first stage being infestation which would be indicated by the scratching and thumping sounds. The second stage would be obsession indicated by objects moving and scratches appearing on the boy's body – things to torment the boy without him having fallen unconscious. It seemed that the third stage possession was yet to come.
“Robbie” went up to bed, and Fr. Bishop went up to talk with him some more and wish him goodnight. He left the boy quiet and peaceful and was saying his goodbyes to the rest of the family when the sounds of thumping and banging came from the second floor. With the boy screaming they rushed upstairs and the Father could hardly believe what he saw.
Excerpt from the “exorcist's diary”:
Even after the blessing of the house and in spite of the relic, the swaying was evident and the scratches appeared... When father Bishop sprinkled St. Ignatius holy water on the bed in the form of a cross, the movement ceased abruptly but started again when Father stepped out of the room. During the course of the fifteen minutes of activity a sharp pain seemed to have struck Roland on his stomach and he cried out. The mother quickly pulled back the bed covers and lifted the boy's pajama top enough to show zig-zag scratches in bold red lines on the boy's abdomen.
The activity did not stop until 11:15.
Thursday, March 10, Bishop visited one of his closest friends to talk about the case – a Father William S. Bowdern S.J. Fr. Bowdern was not part of the university, he was an older gentleman of 52, short, stocky, with a reputation of not becoming shaken by much. He was the pastor of St Francis Xavier Church and a native of St Louis. He had joined the Society of Jesus when he was 17, became a teacher and principal at different schools while studying, and had enlisted in the army as a Chaplin serving 4 years in Europe and in the China, Burma and India campaigns of World War II.
Bishop had been a long time friend with the older man, and thought that he would be just the right man to consult about the boy's situation. Bishop had considered him a pious man and that was one of the major criteria for an exorcist – the younger Father thought that this was probably a situation that was beyond his ability to handle.
Meanwhile, the day had passed peacefully at the house on Roanoke Drive, but when the boy had retired to bed, everything started up again as it had before, but this night according to “Robbie” and his mother, the relic had become unpinned and flung across the room all by itself.
Robbie's cousin stopped in to see Fr. Bishop in the next day to tell him what had happened, and the Father told her that he would have to arrange to bring Fr Bowdern with him later that evening as they had so much scheduled at the university during the day. Father Bowdern was also in the midst of a series of special devotions that took place over nine days.
That evening, Bowdern brought two relics from his church to the house with him. A first class relic of St. Francis Xavier (it was a piece of the bone from the right arm of the saint). And a crucifix that housed two other first class relics – one of St. Peter Canisius and a collective relic from a group of saints known as the North American martyrs.
Bowdern, who had a lot of experience with dealing with boys thanks to his many teaching experiences, interviewed the boy and sent him up to bed at about 11:00pm. A few minutes later they all rushed back up stairs to the boy's absolute cries of terror. Once again the clothespin holding the second class relic had opened and smashed into a mirror in the room without breaking it. Robbie was sitting upright his face pale as anything, he held up his arm and there was a cross scratched upon it. Bowdern pinned the cross he had brought onto the pillow, right next to the other relic they had reattached to it. The bed had not moved this time and everything seemed quiet, so they settled the boy back down and left to go talk about everything that had been happening.
Father Bishop began to write down the facts and details of the case this time as everyone began to recount their experiences. He marked the top of this file “Case Study” - these notes are what was to become “the exorcist's diary”
to be continued...

Now this really burns me! I wish people would stop living in La La Land and get real:
Christian Couple Puts Religion on Trial With Death of 2nd Child From Failed Faith-Healing Regimen
Herbert and Catherine Schaible lost two children in four years because they chose to trust God to provide healing rather than seek medical help for their sick children. Now, in a case legal experts have described as "thorny," the couple's special brand of faith is about to put religion on trial.
In 2009, the Christian couple whose First Century Gospel Church dismisses medical care as an insult to God, were arrested and tried for involuntary manslaughter of their 2-year-old son Kent.
Kent had died from a deadly case of bacterial pneumonia and according to the Philadephia Enquirer, the couple listened to medical experts in court who testified how their son could have been saved if only his parents had taken him to a hospital where he would have received appropriate lifesaving medical care.
The judge in the case imposed 10 years' probation and ordered them to ensure their remaining children received medical care when they got sick.
Four years later, however, their 8-month-old son Brandon died in their home from bacterial pneumonia as his parents prayed over him on April 18.
Pennsylvania authorities seem prepared to send a very strong message this time around. The couple was cited for violating their probation and all their children were removed from their home. They have also been charged with third-degree murder this time around instead of manslaughter – a charge that attracts a 20-40 year prison term.
Until a June 12 preliminary hearing of the case, Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Benjamin Lerner has ordered that the couple be remanded in custody without bail charging that they might flee or be harbored by fellow believers.
While religion did not factor much during the first trial of the couple, Temple University law professor David Kairys, a longtime criminal and civil rights lawyer, explained that religion may have to be an issue in this case even if it's only to show the mindset of the couple.
"When the jurors get this case, you want a strong feeling among enough jurors that this just isn't a crime," Kairys told the Philadelphia Enquirer. "It's horrible, but they didn't intentionally kill."
"These are really difficult and sad cases," highlighted Steve Crampton, general counsel for Liberty Counsel, an Orlando, Fla.-based legal organization that focuses on religious issues, in the report.
This case, said Crampton, "lies at the intersection of society's right to protect the life of the child and the parents' right to both the free exercise of their children's religion and [control over] the upbringing of their children."
"For parents, there is no religious exemption, no absolute license that lets you do what you want in the name of religion," Crampton said.

"Captain Howdy, that isn't very nice!" - The Exorcist
And now, continuing: The Exorcist: the Real Deal part four (at last)
Downstairs, Father Bishop began interviewing the "Doe" family and started fleshing out the dates and details of "Robbie's" case, with Father Bowdern filling suggestions. The conference was interrupted by more noise from upstairs where "Robbie" had just gone to bed. A bottle of holy water had flown across the room from the dresser and landed hard on the floor next to Robbie's bed with a loud thud. Father Bowdern calmed the boy and told him of the story of The Miracle at Fatima until everything seemed to be quiet once more. So the priests said their goodnight and Robbie's uncle drove them back to the campus.
That was not the end of activity for the evening - a loud scraping noise was heard and everyone remaining in the house rushed upstairs again, turned the knob to Robbie's bedroom, and found it blocked by a heavy bookcase. After forcing their way into the room, they found Robbie still in bed with a shocked and confused look on his face. Robbie's mother noticed that a stool that had sat near the head of the bed was now overturned and laying at the foot of the bed. She rushed to her son and laid down beside him to to comfort him until he fell asleep again - but sleep was hard to come by at this point. After a while they felt some sort of presence in the room - the stool fell over again - Robbie could feel something moving under the pillow. It was the crucifix that had been pinned there by Father Bowdern - the pin came undone and it was slithering under the sheets on its own. Robbie reached for one of the relics that had been pinned there as well - but that was now gone as well.
They ran in fear from the room and eventually the family spent the night downstairs in the living room together as scratching and banging continued upstairs.
Next time: The Exorcism Begins....stay tuned

Especially important is the warning to avoid conversations with the demon. We may ask what is relevant but anything beyond that is dangerous. He is a liar. The demon is a liar. He will lie to confuse us. But he will also mix lies with the truth to attack us. The attack is psychological, Damien, and powerful. So don't listen to him. Remember that - do not listen. - The Exorcist
Despite their compassion for the boy neither Father Bishop or Bowdern wanted to become Robbie's exorcist.
In the Middle ages exorcisms were fairly common place and there were quite a few exorcists to chose from, but in more recent times such was not the case. The practice became more rare, and one had to procure permission after recounting enough evidence that such an ancient and outdated ritual was required. Father Bowdern did not feel that he was “holy” enough as the major descriptor of the exorcist stated. He received permission to write up the petition and describe the events that had led up to the request.
Meanwhile, things were still very much active at the Doe residence. Objects were still moving about the room, the relics kept disappearing and reappearing in other places and the bed continued to shake.
The search for an exorcist among the Jesuit community was on. Unfortunately, two were approached and outright refused to become involved, and in addition, there was a lot of societal and political opposition to the racial integration of the church at the time and Archbishop Ritter was in too precarious a position to handle both situations. Looking at the writings on the subject,
An Exorcist “must be properly distinguished for his piety, his prudence and integrity of life. He should fulfill this devout undertaking in all constancy and humility, being utterly immune to any striving for human aggrandizement, and relying not on his own but divine power. Moreover he ought to be of mature years, and revered not alone for his office but for his moral qualities.”
He could choose from any facility, Jesuit or not, any other archdiocese, or a priest in his own community. With all of that considered, he chose Father Bowdern. Bowdern was instructed to not talk to anyone about the exorcism as it was a personal matter – and in the coming years, he in fact was the only one of the limited people exposed to the situation to have kept that promise. He did however, permit Father Bishop to continue taking notes in a record that became known as The Exorcist's Diary.
Wednesday March 16 – Father Bodern sent a message to Walter Halloran, a 26 year old Jesuit student at the university, and asked him for a ride to Roanoke Drive. The two had become great friends even with their age differences and got along well Halloran had been one of Bodern's students in high school, and in fact, had been Halloran's inspiration to become a Jesuit.
He had often run errands for Bodern, and readily agreed. When he picked up Bowdern that evening, Father Bishop was with him and both got into the car - not paying much attention to other than finding Roanoke Dr., he did notice that both of them were wearing their cossacks and carrying some supplies. It was when they arrived at the Doe residence that Bowdern asked Halloran to come in with them, and as they were walking said, “I'll be performing an exorcism, I want you to hold the boy down in case it's needed.”
Inside, the three sat down with the Doe family and explained that he was prepared to make some special prayers in order to try to help Robbie. The boy was told to go upstairs and get ready for bed, so his mother went up with him to help him get ready, then came back down to tell the others he was all set.
Father Bowdern went up by himself to talk to Robbie for a while, No one knows exactly what was said, but Bodern reported later he asked Robbie to examine his conscience, and to make an act of contrition. If there had been any doubt in Bodern's mind about the truthfulness of the situation he would have called it all of right then and there – but he did not.
Bowdern went back downstairs to call Bishop and Halloran to prepare themselves – the two priests kissed and donned their purple stoles and headed upstairs each carrying a copy of Rituale Rumanium, each carrying a bottle of Holy Water as well, Holloran following behind.
Holy cliffhanger! Stay tuned....

The Exorcism Begins
"In the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ! It is he who commands you! It is he who flung you from the gates of Heaven to the depths of Hell!" - The Exorcist
Before the three had arrived to Roanoke Drive, Father Bodern had said Mass and made his confession to Father Kenny and spent a large part of the day in prayer – something they would all often repeat in the following days. Now, they made their way nervously up the stairs knowing how much of a mental and physical struggle it would be before them to resist temptations and the attempts to break the faith of all present that the possessed would bring. Into the room they went followed by Robbie’s mother, Aunt and Uncle.
The three knelt by the bed and began with prayers faith, hope, love, contrition while the boy tried his best to recite along with them. Next came the Litany of Saints uttered in Latin asking for the Lord and Holy Mary to help and guide them – The bed began to move. It shook as they continued and bounced up and down in time to their cadence. Halloran, was startled seeing this for the first time, and Bowdern told him to keep praying and continued with the Litany.
Then the words of the exorcism began loudly to Robbie's scream:
“I command thee, unclean spirit, whosoever thou art, along with thine associates who have taken this servant of God that, by the decent of the Holy Spirit. By the coming of our Lord, unto judgement, thou shalt tell me some sign or other thy name, and the day, and hour of thy departure. I command thee moreover, to obey me to the letter, I who though unworthy, am a minister of God...”
Robbie's cries were those of pain, he threw open his shirt and revealed three long raised scratches across his stomach, and every time the priest said the word “Deus” or “Dominus”, new raised welts would appear over his legs, neck, back, and face in front of all six witnesses. There was no way the boy could have been making these marks by himself. Father Bowdern did not pause, and continued to read from the Rituale Romanium and further asked for the demon to identify itself – scratches appeared on one area of the boy's body that some thought resembled a devil with bat wings.
Continuing to read, the next time Bowdern said the word “Deus” there appeared scratches like those of a cat that seemed to spell out “H-E-L-L”. These scratches bled so much that Father Bishop dabbed them with a handkerchief. When Bodern again asked when the entity would depart there appeared the letters, “G-O” followed by a crooked “X” on the boy's thigh.
Robbie then collapsed and fell into a deep sleep Father Bishop counted up to two dozen marks on the boy but stopped counting because some of them were a mass of confused welts and hard to count. Father Bowdern continued to recite from the book, and Robbie then twisted and turned still in deep sleep with his eyes closed muttering words of some sort. Thrashing, beating the headboard with his fist, tearing at his pillow, then when father Bodern sprinkled him with holy water, Robbie sat bolt upright and awake. He related a dream that he was fighting with a huge red devil that was keeping him from escaping a fiery pit.
Bowdern continued with a powerful prayer:
“I cast thee out unclean spirit, along with the least encroachment of the wicked enemy, and every phantom and diabolical legion. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, depart, and begone from this creature of God...”
Robbie lapsed into the same restless sleep as before but became more violent as the prayers continued. Halloran had to try to hold the 95 pound boy down as he has begun to really lash out kicking and punching, and at one point the boy even broke Halloran's nose in the struggle. Robbie's uncle joined in restraining his nephew as the boy kept violently thrashing about for the next several hours. One of Robbie's arms got free and smashed his uncle across the face, but the uncle kept at him and managed to pin the arm down again.
When Bowdern marked the sign of the cross on the boy's head, he was spit at, and Robbie kept spitting with his eyes still closed. Sweat drenched the bed after hours and hours, the men were tiring, but Robbie was as strong as when the thrashing had started.
When Bowdern splashed Holy water in the boy's face, he awoke and seemed calm for a minute. The boy asked for a glass of water for his parched throat and his mother went to retrieve it, but when she got back he was once again in a fitful sleep. Several times in the night, Bowdern repeated splashing Holy water in the boy's face when he completed a prayer, and if the boy did not wake up he lightly tapped his face until he did awaken for however brief a time.
The when Bowdern reached the final prayer he had raised his voice to a crescendo, which could only be heard sometimes through the barking noises that Robbie was making. And then all was silent.
Robbie seemed to be in a normal sleep and they all wondered if it was over. Bishop looked at his watch and it read almost 5am.
Suddenly Robbie threw himself forward on the bed and with his eyes closed began singing, “Way down upon the Swanee River, far, far, away...”. He sang with a high pitched voice and waved his arms about like he was conducting, but waved out of time, then he began to sing “Ole Man River, He mus' know sumpin...” Shouting words and screeching and shouting.
Father Bodern wearily started praying over again.
Notes in the Exorcist’s Diary at this point simply read. “7:30am R begain natural sleep and continued quite peacefully until 1pm of the 17th then he ate an ordinary meal and participated in a game of Monopoly”
...they all knew that this was just the beginning.
Until next time....stay tuned.

Leaving the house after the first session, they all knew it would be hard to keep this going. Hey had been instructed to keep their evening activities secret, but they also had to keep their day schedules at the college in order to keep up appearances and avoid questions. There would not be much of anything to excuse them from their daytime duties. Only Halloan with the help of Father Bodern was able to secure permission for certain absences by a superior priest known as Father Minister.
March 17th
The three made the second trip to Roanoke and were met at the door by Robbie's frantic mother. His uncle and his father were trying to hold the boy down when the three arrived. As they rushed upstairs Robbie's mother related the story of how Robbie became suddenly sleepy around 9pm and went upstairs to bed – when she went up to check on him, she found him asleep standing up in the middle of putting his pajamas on. She then helped him into bed and the fits started. They became so violent with Robbie kicking, screaming, slapping, hitting and snarling like a dog. The father and uncle had been trying to hold him down ever since – Bowdern motioned Halloran to help hold the boy down.
Robbie was still kicking and fighting furiously with the three grown men trying to hold him. Bodern knew this small boy should not be a match for the thee, therefore it had to definitely be possession. Bodern set about splashing Holy water on the boy's face and slapping hi on the cheeks until he woke up and became calm. He then opened the book and started the prayers of exorcism 0 Robbie then closed his eyes and began another round of violent fit – with his eyes closed, he spit unerringly into each mans face. Bowdern wipe the spit from his eyes and bent down to the boy reciting the prayer over Robbie's holloring, the boy then broke free and lashed out and caught Bowdern's stole, ripped it from the exorcist’s neck and shredded it to pieces.
His mother tried to cool the boy's face with a washcloth and she was spit at with a large amount of liquid from the boy's mouth, he then turned his head and spit at a dodging Halloran and managed to hit him in the face as well – all with his eyes closed the boy could spit unerringly for a distance of 5 feet or more.
Throughout all of this The three continued the prayers and responses. Several times Robbie seemed to wake up calmly and be confused as to what had been going on over the past several hours, only to drop back to closed eyed snarling and thrashing about. Then after a time, the boy seemed to fall into a normal peaceful sleep, and Bowdern called an end to the evening's exorcism session. They went down stairs and notes were taken for the Exorcists Diary, and then the three went on their way to some well needed rest before the following day's duties.
Next time – session three.

Friday March 18th
Father Bowdern and company went home and got a few hours rest before conducting their daily schedules of Mass and other appointments. In the afternoon Robbie's mother called saying that he had fallen into a fit that day, and had to be restrained by his father while his non-Catholic mother and aunt recited the rosary. The “spell” only lasted for about an hour and then the boy seemed to settle down.
They arrived at the house that evening at about 7pm, and they all chatted and played games until Robbie become tired and went up to bed. When he was set, they joined him and took their places beside the bed to begin the exorcism for the evening.
Robbie stayed awake when Bowdern reminded him of the story of Our Lady of Fatima, and began to recite a prayer thereto. Then when Bowdern opened up his book and began The Litany of Saints prayer the mattress of the bed began shaking – so much for the hope of a quiet evening. Bowdern stopped his prayer and shook some holy water onto the mattress which stopped shaking, and he resumed the prayer.
Robbie exploded into a fit of whipping his body up and down, and back and forth violently upon the mattress and tearing at the bed sheets. Robbie's father and uncle rushed into the room and grabbed the boy's arms as Halloran held onto both of his feet. The boy continued to thrash about just as wildly and bowed his back into an almost impossible arch as it contorted every which way.
Robbie began to spit copious amounts of fluid again, including blood, with unerring ability as before: his eyes were closed as they had been the previous night as well. He spat upon the relic Father Bowdern tried to touch him with, then turned to spit in Father Bishop's upraised hand. Bowdern took a gold box out from the pocket of his cassock and held it next to the boy's feet, which had been pounding against the foot board as if running up stairs. The one next to the box stopped but the other kept pounding. Inside the box was a round communion wafer. A moment later the boy was conscious and complained of soreness in his muscles, but then his eyes rolled back into his head and he began to flail again, and screamed as his body seemingly was picked up by unseen hands and flung down upon the bed again.
Robbie seemed to come in and out of his trance as the prayers continued, until he relaxed. Everyone felt it was time to rest and release their grips, but as they did so, the boy jumped up on his feet on top of he bed and began to howl and jump about, swing his fists, and bite those who tried to restrain him again .Finally they got a hold of him once again, and the process continued over the next several hours.
At about Midnight, the boy relaxed once again and they all released him in their exhaustion for having held him down for hours and hours. Robbie then sprang up and dropped to his knees bending over so far that his head nearly touched the mattress, and began to recite, “Our Lady of Fatima. Pray for us” and then went on to recite Hail Mary. He then removed his shirt and held it up over his head, as he looked as though he was trying to move something from his stomach to his mouth in a sort of vomiting fashion.
The boy cried for someone to open a window and they did, and he yelled, “He's going. He's going. There he goes!” then the boy fell limp and collapsed. The boy told them of a huge black stain that had clouded his vision. Within the cloud was a tall dark figure in a black cowl. The figure had turned and walked away from him, getting smaller and smaller until he was gone. Robbie happily sprung out of bed and they all went downstairs to talk for a bit, and finally at about 1:30am the two priests and the student left for the university.
….no, this is NOT the happy ending... stay tuned.

When the three arrived at the university they parted ways and went back to their respective housing for a much needed rest, they could not imagine that this would really be the last of it all. That assumption would be correct because at 3:15am the phone at the rectory rang springing Bowdern out of a sound sleep. Robbie was on the phone screaming, “He's coming back!!!!”
Father Bowdern quickly went to knock on Halloran's door – no words were necessary as Halloran got dressed and retrieved his car keys, and the three were on their way back to the house on Roanoke Drive. It was like the past several hours of the previous evening had not even occurred. They set again to their prayers and responses as Robbie thrashed about on the bed until about 7:30am when the boy seemed to settle down in a natural state of sleep. The three bedraggled men went back to the university to carry on with their daily duties.
Saturday March 19th
Everything seemed suspiciously normal as Robbie spent the day playing, reading comic books, and listening to the radio. As the day grew darker, so too did Robbie's mood until it was time for him to get ready for bed. Bowdern tried to move the timetable for the exorcism up a bit in an effort to get things going and try to get finished at a better hour of the evening for everyone involved. If they could start earlier perhaps they could end the session by midnight instead of the wee hours of the morning. The previous evening had made the three Jesuits despair and wonder if this would ever end.
The evening was much like those before, beginning with the family and priests having a pleasant visit, and when the time came to go upstairs, the two priests began the prayers and responses wth Halloran trying to hold down the fitful boy who in his own way was barking responses to the prayers. “I command thee unclean spirit..” which continued in Latin in an order for the spirit to show a sign – the sign was Robbie urinating a fowl smelling stream all over the bed and his bed clothes. Bodern demanded the spirit give it's name, and the boy urinated again. When asked the hour of it's departure the boy completely soaked everything once more – the stench in the room was quite unbearable, but they continued. The urinating suddenly stopped when Bodern made the sign of the cross on the boy's face and chest. He then placed the end of his stole on the boy's neck and his other hand on the boy's head and prayed. Robbie became quite calm at this point.
Robbie began to sing a beautiful rendition of “The Blue Danube Waltz” while his hands kept time – it was almost like he had been a trained vocalist, but when asked, his mother stated that he could not carry a tune. Next he began to sing “The Old Rugged Cross” in good tune, but the tone it was sung in was clearly a mocking rendition. Robbie woke for a moment and when asked to sing The Blue Danube he claimed he did not know it.
Robbie slipped back into his trance-like state and asked for one of the priests by name – they did not respond to him of course given the caution by the Rituale Romanum to not acknowledge the possessed . Robbie called the priests name in a pleasant voice once more with no response, so next came a foul voice hissing out the name followed by the words, “you stink!” This marked the first of many more harsh words in the sessions to follow, growing nastier as they went along. This also sparked hours more of the boy's violent thrashing until about 3am when it seemed he once more fell into normal sleep. They prayed by his bedside for another half hour and then departed.
...to be continued

Sunday Night
Father Bowdern began the session at 8pm. The family had added the gathering and washing of bedclothes to their schedule, as the urination was a new and ongoing event – yes this night he did it again.
The shouting, barking, screaming, thrashing violently about and urination filled the events of Sunday night and the insults got worse. Bowdern was the target of many insults that night, but soon everyone was included in, “Go to Hell!” “You're dirty sons of bitches! You goddamn assholes!”
His voice changed from high pitched squeals to very low guttural growls, and he disturbed everyone with his grating incessant laughter. A great deal of what he shouted was too graphic to be noted down in The Exorcist's Diary, but it included completely inappropriate graphic descriptions of sexual acts with various individuals and names from the Bible. Things Robbie had no history that the adults were aware of using in his speech or expressions. He also expressed these things in the middle of mocking prayers and songs.
The boy also began to break wind loudly, and the fumes were so noxious that the had to open the windows even though it was winter.
It all stopped at about 2am, and Robbie's family was at the breaking point. His aunt and uncle had had enough, and the next day his mother collapsed and had to be taken to the doctor, where rest was prescribed. Bowdern had looked into the idea of checking Robbie into the hospital at least for one night to give everyone a much needed rest, and he made arrangements for Robbie to go to Alexian Brothers Hospital.
Alexian Brothers was a large psychiatric hospital opened in the late 1800's and through the years additions had been made. It was built and run by The Congregation of Cellites, an order founded by Monks who had cared for victims of The Black Death in the 14th century.
March 21st
At 10pm Robbie was transferred to the hospital, the monks of Alexian were familiar with the need for as much secrecy as possible for this case. Many times they had discreetly cared for some high profile alcoholics and other patients who would otherwise be ruined if the word had gotten out.
Robbie's secure room had bars on the windows, leather straps on the bed, and no door handle on the inside of the room. The bed had an iron frame, and there was a nightstand in the room, and a desk and a chair. The monks had moved a couch into the room because Robbie's father had requested to stay with him for the night
They began the prayers of the Exorcism and to their surprise – Robbie remained awake and merely looked around the room nervously the entire time. When the prayers were done, Bowdern knocked on the door for the three in attendance to be let out, while Robbie's father remained behind comforting his son. Mr. Doe had a very restful sleep on the couch as Robbie also slept quietly for the night. The boy woke up the next morning at a little later than 6am and got dressed, nudged his father awake, and they checked out and went back to Roanoke Drive. The family had hope – Robbie spent the day with no unusual events. Bowdern was quite pleased to hear the news and figured that one night at the hospital may have been enough. Tuesday evening rolled around and Father Bishop got a call, the boy's mother said everything was fine, Robbie had gone up to bed but then he slipped into his trance and the bed began to shake.
Father Bishop and two other priests (one of whom may have been Father Kenny) rushed to the house and began the prayers of exorcism until about midnight when Robbie seemed to settle into sleep. The three returned to the university and informed Father Bowder about what had happened. Bowdern seemed to think that the milder night was nothing to be alarmed about, but he had decided to talk to Robbie's family to see if they could convert the boy to Catholicism so that he could really aid in his own defense against this entity.
Stay tuned...

The Rectory of St Francis Xavier – Wednesday the 22nd A room for Robbie and his father was set up for them to stay, and Father Bowdern talked to Robbie for several hours that afternoon about the church and it's teachings. And he taught him the Acts of Faith, Hope, Love, and contrition. Robbie then went to bed at about 9:30pm And Father's Bowdern, Bishop, Walter Halloran, and Robbie's father gathered along with s newcomer, Father William A. Van Roo, S.J. Bowdern began the Acts, but as soon as he began to recite the Litany, Robbie burst out kicking and screaming and lashing out with his fists – Halloran jumped at the boy in order to hold him to the bed and asked for help, Robbie's father and Van Roo let to his aid. The boy was still struggling under the restraint of the three men and suddenly Robbie's voice rang out, “Please let go of my arms, you're hurting me.” Forgetting not to listen to anything the boy would say, Bowdern relaxed his grip and told the boy, “I'm just going to hold my hands near you.” He released his grip and Van Roo did the same, but when the boy broke out into a howling scream, Halloran pounced back upon him, as did Van Roo. Van Roo looke over at Halloran telling him, “There's no sense in holding his arms that hard. You are only making him uncomfortable.” Halloran was about to reply, but even though he knew better, this was a priest talking to him, so he let go. Robbie suddenly lashed out with his eyes closed and hit Halloran's nose, if it wasn't broken the countless previous times Robbie had struck him, it was now. The next to be hit was Van Roo and the boy had made his nose gush blood. Both eventually restrained the boy, Halloran was not going to listen to anyone about holding Robbie too tightly, even a priest. Van Roo also realized Halloran was not intentionally trying to hurt the boy. Robbie began to urinate and break wind as the session continued, the stench being so bad that his father ran to the window to let in fresh air. Robbie would continue to drift in and out of consciousness, sometimes pleading again, other times howling and still thrashing about. “I'm inn Hell!” he would shout along with shouting at Bowdern, “I see you, I see you …you're in Hell, it's 1957!” For the first time Father Bowdern faltered he stopped reciting and looked around briefly confused and tormented, his face paled. He finally looked back down to the book and began to read again. The rest of the evening was set with more howling thrashing and so on, and included some unrecorded words deemed too sexually graphic in nature. By 2:30 it was done for the evening and Robbie fell into normal sleep.

Halloran dragged himself of to his room and fell down upon the bed spent and weary. He had his doubts about how much longer this all would last and how much he himself was going to be able to withstand. He had to get up at 6am and had hoped that no one would ask him about the condition of his nose. Father Bishop had also had doubts and was weary, but he and Halloran both knew that doubt would not help the boy and so they shored up their resolve to continue.
Bowdern had thought that the trouble would end soon. The X on the boy's leg that night, he was sure that had been the sign he'd asked for, and that the demon would depart in ten days. Ten days put it on, or after, the Feast of St. Gabriel. March 24th or Friday the 25th - he and Bishop differed in their opinions.
Robbie had remained in the rectory all Thursday and that evening as they gathered and Bowdern began, the moment he said Gabriel, Robbie let out a blood curdling scream! He barked, howled, broke wind and urinated all over the place. Robbie's father once again had to open the window to ease their stinging eyes from the fowl stench and be able to breathe.
Many rumors would arise from these sessions of exorcism, as Verhaegan Hall, an old brick building was very near the rectory. Verhaegan house some of the students of the college, priests and those studying for their doctorates on the second and third floor. None of them seemed to see anything unusual but several recounted the strange sounds they had heard of diabolical or idiotic laughter.
On this night, Father Bowdern had asked a few more Jesuits to attend, and while their names are not listed in The Exorcists Diary, one of them is remembered as having a weight problem. This one became a particular target of abuse, Robbie screaming at him things such as “Fat ass” and “Ox” and saying that he had “Big teats” with Robbie making sucking sounds whenever he came near. “you'll be with me in Hell in 1957” he continued.
The verbal abuse became worse after midnight with Robbie talking about stroking penises and all kinds of shocking things. At one point he shouted, “Cut out the Latin and get away from me you goddam bastards!”
A Father O'Hara was quite possibly one of those in attendance that night, he would later recount his experience with a Father Gallagher (a teacher of none other than William Peter Blatty in later years). According to O'Hara, there was one point where Robbie got loose from those holding him down and flew towards Father Bowdern – but he did not make it past the book in Bowdern's hands – the moment the boy touched the book – it vaporized into confetti.
Things continued for another two hours and then at about 2:30am Robbie fell into normal sleep again. They tried to clean the room as well as possible without waking the boy up and went off to bed.
Bowdern was sure that this was all near an end and that tomorrow he would demand the demons to depart and leave Robbie alone.

The Exorcist story will continue next week - meanwhile...
The first German serviceman killed in the second world war was killed by the Japanese (China, 1937). The first American serviceman killed was killed by the Russians (Finland 1940). 80% of Soviet males born in 1923 didn’t survive World War 2. The highest ranking American killed was Lt. Gen. Lesley McNair, killed by the US Army Air Corps. Between 1939 and 1945 the Allies dropped 3.4 million tons of bombs, An average of about 27,700 tons of bombs each month. 2 million German women aged 13-70 were allegedly raped by the Red Army on WWII. Queen Elizabeth II served as a mechanic and driver in World War II. Germany lost 40-45% of their aircraft during World War 2 to accidents The swastika is an ancient religious symbol. More Russians (military and civilians) lost their lives during the Siege of Leningrad than did American and British soldiers combined in all of WWII. 12,000 heavy bombers were shot down in World War 2. U.S. Soldier John R. McKinney held off over 100 Japanese soldiers single handedly in WWII. It is estimated that 20,000 Koreans were killed in Hiroshima and 2,000 died in Nagasaki. 2/3 of Allied bomber crews were lost for each plane destroyed. 84 German Generals were executed by Hitler When allied armies reached the Rhine, the first thing men did was pee in it. On July 14, 1941, the Soviets introduced a new weapon, the Katyusha, which could fire 320 rockets in 25 seconds. Either 3 or 4 ground men were wounded for each killed. 6 bomber crewmen were killed for each one wounded. Over 100,000 Allied bomber crewmen were killed over Europe. There were 433 Medals of Honor awarded during World War 2, 219 of them were given after the receipiant’s death. From 6 June 1944 to 8 May 1945 in Europe the Allies had 200,000 dead and 550,000 wounded. The youngest US serviceman was 12 year old Calvin Graham, USN. He was wounded in combat and given a Dishonorable Discharge for lieing about his age. (His benefits were later restored by act of Congress). Most members of the Waffen SS were not German. Prisoners of war in Russian camps experienced an 85% mortality rate. Germany lost 136 Generals, which averages out to be 1 dead General every 2 weeks Germany lost 110 Division Commanders in combat. The number of Chinese killed by the Japanese during WWII is greater than the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust. 40,000 men served on the U-Boats during World War 2; 30,000 of them didn’t survive. 12,000 heavy bombers were shot down in World War 2 More US servicemen died in the Air Corps that the Marine Corps. 40,000 men served on U-Boats during World War 2; 30,000 never returned While completing the required 30 missions, your chance of being killed was 71%. Not that bombers were helpless. A B-17 carried 4 tons of bombs and 1.5 tons of machine gun ammo. The US 8th Air Force shot down 6,098 fighter planes, 1 for every 12,700 shots fired. Germany’s power grid was much more vulnerable than realized. One estimate is that if just 1% of the bombs dropped on German industry had instead been dropped on power plants, German industry would have collapsed. There was no such thing as an average fighter pilot in the World War 2. Japanese ace Hiroyoshi Nishizawa shot down over 80 planes. When allied armies reached the Rhine, the first thing men did was pee in it. German Me-264 bombers were capable of bombing New York City but it wasn’t worth the effort. A number of air crewmen died of farts. (ascending to 20,000 ft. in an un-pressurized aircraft causes intestinal gas to expand 300%!) Germany lost 40-45% of their aircraft during World War 2 to accidents The Russians destroyed over 500 German aircraft by ramming them in midair . The average German officer slot had to be refilled 9.2 times. German submarine U-120 was sunk by a malfunctioning toilet. The US Army had more ships than the US Navy. The German Air Force had 22 infantry divisions, 2 armor divisions, and 11 paratroop divisions. None of them were capable of airborne operations. The German Army had paratroops who WERE capable of airborne operations. When the US Army landed in North Africa, among the equipment brought ashore were 3 complete Coca Cola bottling plants. 84 German Generals were executed by Hitler Among the first “Germans” captured at Normandy were several Koreans. They had been forced to fight for the Japanese Army until they were captured by the Russians and forced to fight for the Russian Army until they were captured by the Germans and forced to fight for the German Army until they were capture by the US Army. The Graf Spee never sank, The scuttling attempt failed and the ship was bought by the British. On board was Germany’s newest radar system. That Nazi salute was modeled on the salute of Italian Fascists, the ancient Romans, as well as ancient Germans. One of Japan’s methods of destroying tanks was to bury a very large artillery shell with on ly the nose exposed. When a tank came near the enough a soldier would whack the shell with a hammer. Following a massive naval bombardment, 35,000 US and Canadian troops stormed ashore at Kiska. 21 troops were killed in the fire-fight. It would have been worse if there had been Japanese on the island. Most members of the Waffen SS were not German. Air attacks caused 1/3 of German Generals’ deaths By D-Day, the Germans had 1.5 million railway workers operating 988,000 freight cars and used 29,000 per day The only nation that Germany declared war on was the USA. During the Japanese attack on Hong Kong, British officers objected to Canadian infantrymen taking up positions in the officer’s mess. No enlisted men allowed! By D-Day, 35% of all German soldiers had been wounded at least once, 11% twice, 6% three times, 2% four times and 2% more than 4 times Nuclear physicist Niels Bohr was rescued in the nick of time from German occupied Denmark. While Danish resistance fighters provided covering fire he ran out the back door of his home stopping momentarily to grab a beer bottle full of precious “heavy water” Germany lost 136 Generals, which averages out to be 1 dead General every 2 weeks.

No Exorcist update yet, but I thought this article could go no other place but here lol Charles Manson’s fiancée wanted to marry him for his corpse: sourceThis plot was too crazy even for Charles Manson. Manson’s engagement to a woman 53 years his junior was part of a wild scheme of hers to profit by putting his body on public display after his death, says the author of an upcoming book. Manson’s fiancée, 27-year-old Afton Elaine Burton, known as Star, sought to wed the convicted mastermind of the Sharon Tate murder and eight other slayings so that she could gain possession of his corpse, according to journalist Daniel Simone. Burton and a pal, Craig Hammond, planned to lay out Manson’s remains in a glass crypt, Simone says. The pair figured their bizarre California version of Lenin’s Tomb would draw huge crowds and make big money. But Manson, 80, does not want to marry Burton and has no interest in spending eternity displayed in a glass coffin, Simone told The Post. “He’s finally realized that he’s been played for a fool,” Simone said. Another reason the madman balked at the plan is because he believes he is immortal. “He feels he will never die,” Simone said. “Therefore, he feels it’s a stupid idea to begin with.” Modal Trigger Manson’s and Burton’s marriage license expired Thursday. “They plan on renewing the license, and things will move forward in the coming months,” says a statement posted on Burton’s and Hammond’s Web site. Burton and Hammond — who uses the nickname Gray Wolf — could not be reached for comment. The wedding was postponed “due to an unexpected interruption in logistics,” the site says. Manson entered a prison medical facility for treatment of an infection about two months ago and cannot receive visitors, Simone said. California prison officials would not comment either on Manson’s medical condition or his whereabouts. Simone and a collaborator, Heidi Jordan Ley, are seeking a publisher for their book, “The Retrial of Charles Manson.” Manson and other inmates at Corcoran State Prison in California are helping the project. The authors say they spoke with Manson regularly before his phone privileges were suspended two years ago. They also corresponded with Manson and his inmate friends by mail. According to the authors, Burton and Hammond hatched their plan to display Manson’s corpse about two years ago. Initially, the duo asked Manson to sign a document that would let them take his body when he dies. Modal Trigger “He didn’t give them a yes, he didn’t give them a no. He sort of strung them along,” Simone said. Burton and Hammond regularly brought Manson toiletries and other items. Stringing them along kept the goodies coming, Simone said. When it became clear last year that the purportedly death-proof Manson would not green-light the plan, Burton and Hammond switched to the marriage idea, Simone says. If Burton married Manson, the pair realized, California law would give her possession of Manson’s remains upon his death, Simone said. Simone believes Manson never intended to marry Burton. “Manson never consented to the wedding in the first place and never will,” he said. Another Simone book, “The Lufthansa Heist,” about a $6 million armed robbery at Kennedy Airport in 1978, is due out next month. He co-authored it with “GoodFellas” mobster Henry Hill, who died in 2012.

Alright, I will still finish The Real Story of the Exorcist, but meanwhile I did begin this thread speaking about big trials. James Holmes trial was one that I promised to comment on, and it is currently underway.
So far, Holmes as been examined and found to be sane, but schizophrenic (wow I can't believe I spelled that correctly without spell checker going nuts). His behavior included thinking Barack Obama was communicating with him through winks and nods in public speeches and held a bizarre theory that each life he took would somehow add to his own value. Behind bars, he sprinted into a wall while naked, cowered under a blanket and sucked his thumb and cried.
Holmes' grandfathers and an aunt also suffered with the mental disorder. At age 11 Holmes first showed a sign of trouble to come by attempting suicide. He went into neuroscience because he knew something was wrong and he wanted to find out why he was having troubles. The reason he picked orange hair was he said, because he thought it would look better than green or blue...ok then.

Today in the Holmes trial there was victim eyewitness testimony. The defense did not cross examine any witness but they lodged quite a few objections to gruesome descriptions, the 911 calls with shrieks and screams, on the grounds that they would inflame the jury - but the judge allowed them because they were an accurate picture of the terrible crime and chaos that evening in the theater.
Victim Caleb Medley testified from his wheelchair and was barely able to talk to answer the two questions asked of him. Medley, who lost an eye and suffered a bullet to the brain, slowly typed an answer to the second question on a keyboard. His wife filled in the rest of the details of his story. The trial is expected to last 4 months
