You're not wrong... And I don't take back anything I've ever said about Reed. He's not a bad director. He's just not creative or interested in taking chances. Fortunately, in this particular format that's perfectly fine. While the director may be king on the set of a film, it's the producer who reigns supreme on a TV series. Great episode. Interesting post credits scene, if not particularly unexpected. They announced he was getting his own series months ago. Now we've got some idea as to what direction they're planning to go. Would it have killed them to get Sebastian Stan for just one scene? Don't get me wrong, they did a good job. Far, far better than Carrie Fisher in Rogue One. Still a bit of uncanny valley going on, though. Deep fakes are great for delivering a near perfect likeness, but the actor underneath has to be the one to deliver the performance. Maybe it's just that the technology still isn't up to the task. Maybe the actor (Max Lloyd-Jones) was being directed to keep his face as immobile as possible by the people responsible for making him into Luke, and it impacted the results. Maybe he's just a lousy actor. I dunno. What I do know is that Mark Hamil is capable of delivering a warmth to the role that was missing. Sebastian Stan is also capable of delivering that same warmth, and could easily pass for 80's or 90's Mark Hamil.

Awesome, awesome episode. I have to echo Sno's sentiments that it managed to put a huge grin on my face nearly the whole time. Fantastic.

I'm just not that big of a Boba Fett fanatic, and never understood the mystique and reverence around him.
Hell of a series. Anyone know if that's that for the Mandalorian? Are we just stuck with the spin-off now?

So... um... Is Baby Yoda not in the show anymore? Because that might be a deal breaker.

He was the clear heart of the series though, this is like when they killed solo off in force awakens. It's hard to replace the heart.
And how many shows we got coming now? Color me slightly worried at the watering down effect.
Fantastic finale. Awesome music. Ludwig you son of a bitch.

Are we just stuck with the spin-off now? There will be a season 3, we’re just getting Boba Fett and Obi-Wan first. At least that’s the plan as of now.

relegated to guest star status Or, you know, a time jump. I will take things as they come. I'm not as attached to Grogu, and expect the show to continue to be good with or without him being central to the plot. Considering that it was established that the remnants of The Empire are attempting to create Force sensitive clones, it seems likely that Mando is going to be contacting Luke once it becomes necessary in Season Three.

I suspect he'll be more on my side with this one. I'll be honest, the reveal excited me. When we were watching I said "Boy,, they really want us to think its Luke. Wait... what if its Luke??"
The effect did not look good, and I do think this show is just turning into fan fiction now. But a part of me just wants to let the star wars fan in me take over and embrace it.
I dunno, we'll see where it goes from here. Without Baby Yoda, I really do think my interest will wane. But I also don't want to be a wet blanket.

If Finn is the best a program to create Force sensitive clones can produce, it was a spectacular failure. Every new Star Wars announcement made since The Rise of Skywalker has been for a story set long before the events of the Sequel Trilogy. I'm still expecting all the upcoming series and movies to do their own thing, and ignore the events that are supposedly to come according the Sequels. They might also pave the way for providing a cannon reason to wipe away the Sequels in favor of a new timeline.

Yeah, not a fan of that either. Only cause it shit on Last Jedi. You’re a sequel supporter but a Mandalorian hater. Mind boggling!

They might also pave the way for providing a cannon reason to wipe away the Sequels in favor of a new timeline. I really doubt this. They aren't going to erase the sequels just cause a bunch of parent's basement dwelling nerds didn't like that luke wasn't exactly the way they wanted him to be in the future or that Phasma's backstory wasn't explained. Rey became a character that young star wars fans, girls in particular, really latched onto. It also seems like everyone forgot how huge a success Force Awakens was and it was almost universally loved in 2015.
Also, I'm pretty sure the cloning program is about bringing the emperor back. If that is the case, then there is a tie to the sequels right there.

If Finn is the best a program to create Force sensitive clones can produce, it was a spectacular failure. Finn is the only Force sensitive storm/clone trooper we're aware of — and it was only hinted on in the third movie. They could certainly expand on this in season 3 of Mandalorian and give the sequels a lot of context. As I told SnoBorderZero during season 1 of Mandalorian, the Clone Wars cartoon did tons of prequels fixing. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Mandalorian do the same for the sequels. They’ve already established a lot of plot points that can easily lead to the sequels. Moff Gideon (and Thrawn) can lead to the First Order. Force sensitive clones, as we just mentioned. Baby Yoda’s training leading to the re-establishment of the Jedi Temple/Jedi Order. That’s why it’s funny that IanTheCool calls this fan fiction. Dave Filoni is the only one making sense of George Lucas’ nutty ideas and now he’s doing the same for J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson. Remember the kid with the broom at the end of Last Jedi? That could be a Force sensitive clone/slave. We don’t know yet the repercussions of Moff Gideon’s scheme nor do we know what’s the fate of that scientist guy. Dude could probably get scooped up by the First Order and Emperor Palpatine. Don’t forget Snoke is a clone too. Maybe Baby Yoda’s blood created Snoke. And yes, Doomsday, tell Jon Favreau to hire me for season 3. All my scripts will be to spite IanTheCool.
