It's great to finally see Boba Fett be the badass I expected him to be in 1979, when I first opened my mail-away action figure. Just having a gun wasn't enough for him. No, he's got weapons mounted on either wrist, and a jet pack with a freakin' missile on it. Then, when the 12" figure was released, it was revealed on the box that one of those wrist weapons is a flame thrower. This guy was going to be all kinds of awesome when the movie finally came out, but in the meantime, every kid in America was already playing with Boba Fett as though he were the baddest badass in the galaxy. Then the movie came out, and all he did was stand around. It didn't matter. He was a cool looking action figure who was a total badass in our hearts. Even when Emperor Lucas screwed every fan over by killing him as a cheap punchline in 1983, it didn't change anything. We knew he was just having a bad day, and that he'd be back. It took forty years, but he's back.  |
