Harrison Ford is awful in this movie. It's a foreshadowing for his later career. I don't know how removing the voice over improves anything. You still have Harrison Ford sabotaging the film. It's obvious he didn't get along with Ridley Scott from day one and was trying to get fired.

PG Cooper, are you doing a video essay on Blade Runner? If you are, I hope you focus extensively on Harrison Ford's performance and try to figure out what the fuck happened. I can understand Harrison Ford not giving a fuck but how did Ridley Scott, his editors and the studio allow all this shenanigans to be in the movie? If it were me, I would have drastically reduced his screentime and shifted the focus to Rutger Hauer. Shit... Rutger Hauer is barely in this fucking movie. He had more screentime in that fucking Sylvester Stallone movie, Nighthawks, a vastly superior movie. You should do a Nighthawks vs Blade Runner video and end it by giving SnoBorderZero the middle finger. I'll promote that shit all over social media.

I watched it again a couple weeks ago to prep for 2049. I thought it was pretty good but it almost felt like it moves a little too fast. I know that's surprising because a lot of people find it boring but I almost wish they would have fleshed out a lot more. How many times do Deckard and Rachel share the screen? Two, three at most? The theme of humanity is there but it almost felt like it could have been a little deeper. I also found it funny how Deckard, a professional Blade Runner and replicant assassin, spends the entire movie getting his ass completely handed to him. It was pretty cool though, I get it. I fall in the middle and would be interested to hear people's takes on why it's a masterpiece or piece of shit. Also PG Cooper I second Neverending's motion about doing a video on it. |
