So I am heading out to Poland, Austria, Munich, Prague and not sure where else from November 18th until December 4th. This will be my first time out of the country unless you count Canada which to be fair you really can't. I have most of the trip planned out except for about 3 days which I can relax or do whatever.
I have a list of cool things to do but if anybody has been to any of those places and know of other cool places, Let me know. I am a bit nervous because it is a 25 hour flight and a few of my layovers I only have about a 2 hour layover so hopefully I won't miss anything. And I have no idea what to do at customs so hopefully it won't take that long to get through.

People will tell you 'don't go to the touristy spots.' Don't listen, go to the touristy spots especially in Munich. There's a reason they're touristy. Check out the Hofbrau Haus, you'll have a great time.

I found this awesome comic shop called the item shop www.facebook.com/MunichItemShopIn Krakow poland I found what I think is a haunted house, I was told it was pretty awesome. Sounds like you have an awesome trip ahead of you
My younger brother came back about 2 months ago from a 9 country in 21 days and he really loved Prague. Apparently there is a huge central square there that has a lot of history to it. If you are into WW2 go to Berlin. They have a lot of museums there on the topic. Plus, I can't remember the names for them but you could see some of the concentration camps... Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen.

I haven't been to those cities yet. Most of my Eurotrips have been along the Mediterranean. I've heard nothing but cool things about Prague, though.

Plus, I can't remember the names for them but you could see some of the concentration camps... Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen. Awesome, I wish I could stay longer but I just don't have the money. I don't have a full time job it's on call which sucks but it's good money. I just haven't worked since early June. Berlin is a bit out of the way I have a friend who is going to drive me all around which is cool, but from Munich its I want to say a 6 hour drive and then we would have to drive back to poland after. I do plan on going to Germany atleast 1 more time though so when I do I'm hitting Berlin and a few other places there. My plan is to once or twice a year go to somehwere in Europe for about 2 weeks. Depending on if I get called out alot next year I want to go to Japan or Australia next summer. I also wanted to go to Norway and Sweden but I would have to fly I think and tickets were kind of insane. Even to Amsterdam which would have been cool. Cool, I would love to go there also one day. I've heard the same and since we are driving right past it might as well stop there, the exchange rate is great and I found a nice hotel for $33 a night so can't beat that. I will have to check out that amusement park, The music museum is on my list also. I will have to check out the zoo and stuff too. Yeah my friend is driving me all around like I said and I expect to pretty much get lost everywhere, I might visit Salzburg to get some Mozart chocolates but not sure yet. Awesome, My trip originally was to go to poland and then germany and that was it, but looking at all the places we were going to drive by it was like why not stop at a few places while I am there. I'm going to be there for I think 16 days so why not see a bit more. I think only germany and Austria use Euros which the rate is pretty bad but might as well see stuff. My only thing is that I'm going to be doing a 25 hour flight, it's broken up and the longest time I will be on a plane is 10 hours but that's a lot of time to be traveling.

I think you can find more fun things to do than Hofbrau House. I mean they exported that, it is just a cheesy in the states as it is there. Ask locals for better places to drink.

Ask locals for better places to drink. haha I think you have to go atleast once, I went to the one in Vegas, it was ok. This is what I have so far for Munich. I am staying for 4 days. I may stay a day longer it depends. The last day I am there I'm going to spend all day at the christmas market. That is unless it is not open then I am staying another day. Kennedy's Bar & Restaurant Bratwurstherzl Schweizer`s Maxburgstr. 4 80333 München Ali Baba Restaurant - Schillerstrasse 6, 80336 Twisted Bavarian Tengstr. 20, 80798 McDonald’s Stäblistr. 16 81477 Only reason Mcdonalds is on there is because it's right next to the headquarters in Germany. I just want to see if it's any different or not. I still need places to go see in Munich and I think Vienna too. Though if I just had to wander around for a few hours that would be cool too. Does anybody know the temperature at the end of november/early december? I want to say it's in the 30's farenheit but I don't know if that is a different cold than Alaska is. I do plan on bringing arctic gear though just in case. I shouldn't say arctic gear, Basically I can do a base layer, a tshirt and then I have a cold weather jacket, and if anything I am also bringing my winter jacket too.

I went to a German McDonald's in Cologne in 2002 and they served beer. It was a glorious surprise.

Some call it Köln, others Cologne. Personally, I got tired of the confusing multiple pronunciations and just started referring to the places we visited as Hitlertown No.1 through 17.

I was just in Munich and Austria a month and a half ago. To be honest, going off what has already been said, the beer halls, such as Hofbrau House and Augustiner are awesome if for no other reason than the atmosphere. I also thought the food was great. The Chinese beer garden is also another well known spot, but its worth seeing. Obviously, some of this is weather pending, because I know it will most likely be cold and rainy (like it was for me), but we did a pretty sweet bike tour through the city, I just can't remember the name of the company. I'm sure there are a few. Also, if you get a chance to see the glockenspiel, it's worth seeing.
As for Austria, the only town I was in was Salzburg, which if you are going there, its pretty cool. There are a lot of cool churches and this really cool castle, which if you go to see it, offers an awesome view of the city below. Mozart was born there, so there is some history to check out as well.

Mozart was born there, so there is some history to check out as well. Definately have to check out the glockenspiel, I will have to look up the chinese beer garden. I don't drink at all but I will probably try a little bit, I've tried german beer before and for me alcohol tastes disgusting, even the smell of it I can barely tolerate. I did look into a few tours and I am going to have to wait and see how cold it is. I think the average is 20 or 25 degrees and that's about what it is here usually in the winter I just don't know if it's going to feel colder or not. I was thinking of going to Salzburg but I only wanted to go for the Mozart chocolates but I can find those cheaper in Vienna so I am skipping that for now. My schedule is something like 4 days in Poland 3 days in Vienna, 4 days in Munich (might add a day not sure yet) then a day or two in Prague, and then I have 3 days to mess around with, I may end up in Malbork and I wanted to go to Lithuania but I doubt that happens now, Plus for Lithuania I would have to pass Ukraine and I am a bit leery about that. If I had the time and money I would love to stay for atleast a month. I am a college student again (thought school was over with) but I have 2 classes this semester and one of my classes is online and basically finished, but I have a inclass class and I talked to the teacher and he let me finish off the last 2 weeks of class so that I wouldn't have to do any homework on my trip. He even made the final optional.

I got my shots yesterday. I am very paranoid of catching Hepatitis A I think it is but I got a HEP A and B vaccine, Hurt like hell and I am only 80% protected but better than nothing. Apparently to be close to 100% protected you need 2 shots 6 months apart, and for Hep B you need 3 shots.

I was just going to second the Salzberg recommendation. Did you go? No, I spent like 3 days in Vienna and I hit that city I think we walked everywhere. I could have stopped there if we went to Munich but Munich was dropped from my trip, My friend had to do a job interview and I could have taken a bus but I spent like $500 in Vienna and it would have been much worse in Munich so I can always go another time. Munich was about $250 for a hotel about $100 for a bus ticket thats not including food and trinkets so I just said I can go another time. Here are a ton of pictures. I took like 1300 pictures these were probably the coolest ones.
