And the movie is still coming out Dec 22nd? Wow. I don't understand how they're gonna pull this off. Spacey shot all his scenes in 8 days. He was hardly in the movie. They’re just gonna toss a bunch of money and hope for the best. It’s Sony.

Ah, so you're talking about it in this thread. Too good for the Movies Coming Soon forum, eh?

The Golden Globes themselves should be nominated for Best Comedy, based off decisions like this.

Despite thinking it's lesser Kendrick I still probably think Damn. is the best of those five, certainly the most vital and of the moment. 4:44 is also good and it would be cool to see Jay-Z recognized after all these years. They're probably going to give it to Bruno Mars though, old people love that guy.

Not sure if this will be totally reflected in the Oscars, but I think it's been a really amazing year for movies. I could put out a top ten right now and have a damn fine list, and that's without seeing something like a half dozen of the major acclaimed releases yet. 2017 has been dope for cinema.

This year has been weird for me in that there are well over a dozen movies that I consider to be 4 out of 5 level solid but only a couple that I consider to be truly and unreservedly great. Obviously there's still a lot more to see, but if my current number 1 doesn't get displaced soon I'm going to be disappointed.

I have faith.

To be fair, they nominated Ridley Scott for replacing Kevin Spacey at the last minute. That fucking movie didn't even get a Best Picture nomination. They could have easily given the nomination to Lady Bird.

I can't help but roll my eyes at people putting forth Patty Jenkins as a potential nominee. Wonder Woman is a solid comic book movie, but it's by no means award worthy. Lame comic relief stereotype team and bland CGI punch-out climax alone should disqualify her.

I would have been cool with Gerwig getting in, but I can think of at least a half dozen directors I'd nominate before her, and I'm still missing Phantom Thread, The Shape of Water, The Post, and Call Me By Your Name.
