The Oscars (and other awards)

No Robbie is surprising. No Boy and Heron in score is dumb.

I am braced.

I don't watch the Grammys, I don't listen to any of this music but why does it always seem like it's the exact same people year after year after year? Does this rub people the wrong way? Does it call into question its legitimacy? Maybe it's just me, like I said I'm not into any of this but it just seems redundant.

The televised Grammys are just a concert show. The non-televised Grammys are a bit more legit and cover a wide range of genres.

That Fast Car performance completely flipped me on Luke Combs. Mostly because he was so obviously a fan of Tracy Chapman.

The voting on that is going to be so stupid.

So we're doing an award for best ensemble now? Is that basically going to be the metric that this is going to be judged off?

Or maybe the other element would be if there's a breakout star in a movie; someone the casting director "discovered".

In theory it's supposed to be the latter, but in practice it will probably be the former.  Were I to vote for something like that I'd probably look for movies that have lot of kids or non-actors in them that needed to be cast or a lot of bit parts that needed to be smartly cast, but I doubt the actual voters will think that through very deeply and will just vote for whatever movie has the most celebrities in it.
