Thought it was very good. Really striking visuals.
One thing I'm a little bummed about is the absence of Samantha Black Crow. I didn't see her in the casting. She was easily my favorite character from the novel

Having never read the books, my opinions will come from strictly the television material. I found the first episode intriguing, not "oh my god I have to tune in for the next one" level, but it left me curious enough that I'll be back to see more.

That second episode fell pretty flat for me. There were two scenes - one powerful scene on a slave ship, then the other scene with the lady who has sex with you then swallows you into her vagina - that were weird due to how they were just kind of awkwardly cut into the main story, but then didn't go anywhere. If there is exposition happening there, it was lost on me.
I started getting this real "artsy-fartsy, but little substance" vibe from the show, and then I saw the name Bryan Fuller in the credits and it dawned on me that I was having the same feelings I had during the last season of Hannibal when the whole thing felt like a slowly-moving painting that I was getting tired of looking at.
The amount of time it took to essentially put Shadow and Wednesday on the road, into the home of the Russian, and then to end on a "cliffhanger" seemed overly long. The other issue I have is that the show likes to play vague and mysterious, so you keep asking yourself "what the hell is going on," but the show doesn't really do well to compel you to care or excite you to want to really know. Lost kept viewers on the hook with its mysteries - you couldn't wait for the next episode to see what was going to happen.
Here, I'm left with the same feeling of the first episode - I'm somewhat intrigued, but I could easily forget about this show at the drop of a hat.

This isn't very good, I'll stick with it, but it's on par with most starz stuff. Meh overall but kinda pretty to look at.

OK, I've changed my tune. This was a real slow burn at first, and I still have a bad taste in my mouth for how overly weird and avant garde Hannibal got towards the end, but American Gods managed to hook me. The episode revealing the background behind Shadow and Laura's relationship was just fantastic.
Anyway, I'm interested in continuing to watch.

Absolutely loved the first season overall. At this point, I'll watch anything Bryan Fuller does. This has all the elements I loved about Hannibal, and combined with this intriguing new world presented, I just ate it up. The scene in Episode 5 where we meet Mr. World was just incredible. And Emily Browning from Sucker Punch...who knew she could be this good of an actress? I also just started reading the book. Can't wait for Season 2.

I loved it. Was a bit let down by the finale, but overall a great season.

Yea I very much enjoyed this. Aside from the episode about the leprechaun, I really enjoyed each one more than the last.
Will def be looking forward to this coming back.

I'm a couple of episodes behind. They lost me a bit in the episode where the Leprechaun and Laura meet the taxi driver ifrit.
