I must've got lucky. I had no side effects at all, really. Well...you're over 40. One of the few bright spots of being old, I guess!

Guess who's got a big fat 1 inch gallstone? This guy! Second major occurrence of a few sleepless nights in a few years - hoping my primary will approve removal so I can go back filling up on trash soon. Looks like this might be coming out Monday, laparocopic. Gonna try and WFH as soon as the day after, but may be ordered to rest up

I was going to put this in the Resolutions and Accountability thread because I was talking shop in there but thought this thread might do.
I just happened to be hanging with my dad last weekend and he had a heart attack. We didn't think anything was terribly wrong at the time, he was just out of breath after doing some physical tasks but wasn't experiencing any pain, nausea or headaches. He said he had been experiencing this weird shortness of breath mid-physical activity for a few days but we wanted to be safe. I managed to get him to a hospital with the help of some family and after running a few tests they determined he needed a quintuple bypass which he had on Thursday. He's doing okay now and is on the mend but I mention this because he's not an unhealthy guy. He doesn't and has never smoked, doesn't do drugs, is extremely active for a guy in his mid-60s and eats relatively healthy. In short, not the prime candidate for someone who needs a 5-way bypass at his age. The doctor told my mom though that this is almost straight up hereditary and that my siblings and I need to start watching out for it now. I know I have high cholesterol so this is hitting me a little hard and convincing me that I need to step up my game health/diet-wise.
My point is that most of us are in our 30s or 40s and it's never too early to start taking care of yourself, at the very least going in to get checked out once a year or so. I've been lax in my exercise the past few years after being quite good at staying in shape in my 20s and I owe it to myself to get back on the saddle. How you take care of yourself now is going to determine how you feel in the years to come and if you think 'eh I'm 28, I'll worry more about it when I'm 40' then you're going to have a lot more work ahead of you when you get there and won't feel as good or confident about doing it. And if you have a family history of anything then you should also keep that in check. Anyways, hopefully that serves as a little motivation to someone at the very least.

Hey man, sorry about your Dad's health and glad that he's on the mend now. Thats really shocking. I appreciate the motivation to take better care. I'm 35. I come from a farming background so my grandfather and his grandfather were super active, great physical shape (or so we thought) work crazy long hours. Both of them had massive heart attacks on the farm.

Glad you took him to the hospital, and hopefully he gets the care he needs in recovery and wellness going forward, Doomsday. I'd been putting off going back to the gym until my second shot, and this gallbladder crap is just one more reminder I can't slack off when it's tie next month, even if it's not 100% correlated.

Thanks guys, it's much appreciated. Hopefully in a few months from now he'll be feeling better than he did a year ago. In the meantime I just ate an enormous piece of chocolate pie which flies in the face of my previous post in its entirety.

My province apparently ahead of schedule in rolling out vaccines and it looks like I can book my appointment tomorrow.

Moderna jab 2 I had Moderna. I felt fine day of the shot, I got chills and sweats in the middle of the night, felt pretty crummy the next day but fine the day after. Grab some Gatorade and a couple McG movies and you’ll be good by Tuesday.

I wanted only the mRNA for moral reasons and have now got both Pfizer shots. First shot was a blip, not even pain on my arm. Fast forward a couple months and got my second yesterday and it's very different. Was already getting a bad headache earlier in the day and maybe it would have progressed into a bad one without the second shot but boy was it bad last night. Headache went away with some Advil but starting mid morning, I have fever sporadic chills, mild sick stomach and draggy. I expected this and it means it's working so that's good.

Yeah, my second shot was a hell of a thing. Today is much better, no fever, chills, etc. Very tired and feeling more than regular but the kids also got me up at 5 am so that's hard to confirm.

If you’re fully vaccinated the Delta Covid gives you the “sniffles”. Meanwhile, here I am chugging NyQuil and drinking hot tea, totally confused if I have a mild cold or the Delta got to me. Was it too much to ask to continue the quarantine a little bit longer? Everyone acting like the pandemic is over. We’re just now getting over the hump. Can we not rock the boat just yet?

Yeah, we just had an outbreak at school. Everyone got complacent. (Note: not the school; our protocols were still in place.)
Hope it doesn't turn into anything though. When did you get your last shot? Is it a reaction to the vacc?

Second shot tomorrow. Whether I feel like shit or not I might use the excuse to just take the weekend to be lazy. That sounds nice.

Speaking broadly and maybe this is just a moot point and no one cares to disturb it, but what the heck is wrong with people who continue to either deny there is a pandemic or that it's actually not bad because of the lower overall, mortality rate? It must be some sort of NIMBY psychology gone amok? Like their perception of the world, through their neighborhood or friend group or whatever, is showing them its not so bad? So they run with that and think that must be the case everywhere? I just don't get it. The people who I hear theses delusional rants are primarily, white, well employed meaning either permanent or making a really good income as well as knowing they have friends og the exact same mentality.

Had a very poor sleep the night of but I just spent the next day resting and watching movies so things worked out ok. As of this morning I feel a-okay.

La county reinstitutes mask mandate.
I think we're gonna see a lot of that. At least in sane states.
I have a fear all my fall concerts are going to be cancelled.
Humanity sucks. Used to have faith that when faced with an extinction event we would rally and figure it out. Turns out we will just stock pile toilet paper and lock the doors.
