I like David Ayer as a director, hope he redeems himself from Suicide Squad.

David Ayer is real hit or miss as a director. Suicide Squad was terrible. The only good movies to me he's done are Harsh Times and End of Watch

Buddy comedies and specifically buddy cop movies are literally my greatest guilty pleasure. I know it isn't necessarily a comedy but clearly some comedic points. And ayer is like star trek, every other movie seems to be good, and suicide squad was most certainly not good, so I've got a little faith in this one.

I'm not sure why I expected anything different from Ayers.
28 across all the metrics. Awful.

And can we finally bury Max Landis's career in movies?
This guy sucks.

Eh...I'll still give it a watch, cause I really dig the plot/premise, but also cause it'll be right there and I won't have to go and shell out a ticket price. Though Netflix has also been responsible for the second-worst film I've seen so far this year, Death Note, so my expectations are definitely low.

Yeah, Death Note was pretty disappointing. Too bad it's looking like this one is leaning that way as well.
No reason not to give it a go, though.

I dug it. Lowered my expectations with the reviews... Must say I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's back in Ayers wheelhouse as basically a cops on the run movie and it worked for me.
I'll def watch the sequels.
7/10

The internet is saying this is good and the critics have it wrong. I think Max is his own worst enemy and has a short list of friends in the industry, unfortunately. All the Twitter sexual harassment accusations aren't helping, either. Not defending anything, just stating what the internet is saying.

It almost seems like the horrid reviews are hit pieces on Netflix as a brand for what the movie studios think is a shot at their business model. Also combined with apparently a common knowledge about Landis's proclivities I can see the deluge of hate.
But the movie really isn't that bad. Yes a longer series would have been advantageous, but it just isn't in the cards for these caliber actors. I'd def take that and more story of the world, but that's why they greenlit the sequel.
This one tells you just what you need to know and not much else, buncha exposition but this is David Ayer so not sure what people were expecting.
