The list is made, I'll get to the list but first an explanation. I took all the top ten lists and gave points for each movie on each list. Putting a movie at # one on a list gave it ten points, #2 gave it 9 points and so on down to #10 which gives it a mere one. The more points the higher on the big list.
so with out further ado here's the list

10. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (35 Points)
The Rebel Alliance makes a risky move to steal the plans for the Death Star, setting up the epic saga to follow.
CS Voice: "
Firstly, I'd like to say that the visuals were very strong and the CGI employed to bring a certain character to the film was amazing. I liked the new Droid as well but the former Temple Guards and the Jyn
character were the best. It's not like the prequels, for all their problems you still feel George Lucas in the world and planet building... The Last 40 Minutes of the film is an amazing action piece and the film had a very moving conclusion for the rebel characters." - RedVader 9. Moonlight (36 Points)
A timeless story of human self-discovery and connection, Moonlight chronicles the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami.
CS Voice: "Moonlight is a poignant and truthful film that never succumbs to cliched sentimentalism or politics that pays careful attention to crafting a personal character study that is easy to sink into. While the film misses opportunities to be a great film by not tapping more into potential plot points or a more interesting aesthetic from a cinematography standpoint, it's undoubtedly one of the strongest films of the year that tackles its themes with maturity and care." -
SnoBorderZero 8. Everybody Wants Some!! (38 Points)In 1980, a group of college baseball players navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood.
CS Voice: "Damn, I loved this movie even more than I expected to. I immediately wanted to watch it again after it finished. I don't think I've had that feeling since I was a teenager...
" -
Deexan 7. Captain America: Civil War (48 Points)Political interference in the Avengers' activities causes a rift between former allies Captain America and Iron Man.
CS Voice: "Gotta be honest here: the first MCU film that I outright loved. Look, Winter Soldier is a solid gritty action movie...but that's all it really is. Civil War, on the other hand, is a film I found to be much more dramatically and emotionally engaging, not to mention more exciting and I felt the stakes more here than I did in WS. I also preferred the action scenes in this one more, too." -
PhantomKnight 6. Deadpool (55 Points)A fast-talking mercenary with a morbid sense of humor is subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers and a quest for revenge.
CS Voice: "James Gunn said something that hits the nail on the head on why this movie is successful. It was original, it stayed true to the character and it didn't need to made with a ton of money. Now if Hollywood was actually paying attention they would realize that is what we want in a superhero movie. Instead they'll do a cut and paste job of Deadpool for everything else they make. Just like Die Hard did in action movies where everything after was pushed as Die Hard but on a boat or Die Hard but on a plane, Hollywood will do the same thing." -
sabin26 5. The Witch (56 Points)A family in 1630s New England is torn apart by the forces of witchcraft, black magic and possession.
CS Voice: "That obscurity however is what helps the movie work. Kind of like how Jaws doesn't reveal the shark until you're a good deal into the movie, The Witch does a good job in holding back and just letting the tension build. The score which has a 2001 vibe to it at times is great and is another solid element in the mood-building. There aren't many jumps or shocks, it's a movie that is constantly building creepy tension. Rather than jump every now and again I was constantly uncomfortable, a feeling that stuck with me for a while... I'm more fond of and give more credit to movies that are what I would call a slow-burn, movies that really establish settings, characters and build that tension rather than go for shock payoffs. For me, The Witch legitimately creeped me out and had me on the hook from the beginning. I can't remember the last time any movie did that to me." -
Doomsday 4. La La Land (71 Points)A jazz pianist falls for an aspiring actress in Los Angeles.
CS Voice: "If this movie was crafted in such a way that oozing nostalgia on audiences who love Hollywood and films was meant to trick them into loving it, then that entirely succeeded on me.
.. What was interesting was that "La La Land" never once pretended to be all-noir, and reminded its audience many times that it was set in modern day... I, for one, tolerate musicals more than I enjoy them, and that's coming from someone who has starred in a handful of them. However, "La La Land" was equal parts nostalgia and melancholy that it played my heartstrings perfectly and provided a great escape.

daniel 3. The Nice Guys (79 Points)
In 1970s Los Angeles, a mismatched pair of private eyes investigate a missing girl and the mysterious death of a porn star.
CS Voice: "The Nice Guys is a great piece of entertainment. First of all, its hilarious. And its hilarious in two ways: the script and the performances. The jokes are well-written, but they're even better when delivered by the likes of Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. These two leads are great together. They've got a strongly comedic chemistry that never fizzles throughout the whole movie... But not only does the movie work as great comedy, its also a pretty cool mystery story. I actually cared about the plot as it continued to unravel, and was always intrigued by the case they were working on... After being bombarded with comic book movies and franchise sequels, its a breath of fresh air. They just don't make movies like this very much anymore." -
IanTheCool 2. Manchester by the Sea (96
Points)An uncle is asked to take care of his teenage nephew after the boy's father dies.
CS Voice:
"Lonergan’s work as a director is subtle, but it’s also incredibly sharp. He makes great use of the sea-side location and he also keeps scenes visually interesting without ever letting his hand be felt. Perhaps most importantly, Lonergan knows when to allow a moment to simply play out and he also employs silence to great effect. The film as a whole is a pretty significant achievement, one that deserves to be recognized. It’s not easy to create a film which feels so real and layered and it also isn’t easy to explore themes like grief in a way which feels profound and yet still humble and honest. Add to that the wonderfully well-realized characters and performances and you’ve got yourself a real winner. I could have sat and watched these lives unfold for days." -
PG Cooper 1. Arrival (106 Points)When twelve mysterious spacecraft appear around the world, linguistics professor Louise Banks is tasked with interpreting the language of the apparent alien visitors.
CS Voice:
"I like movies that make me engage my brain once in a while. The little tidbits, the in-your-face foreshadowing on the helicopter ride at the beginning that makes sense once you realize how time works, etc., was all very well-crafted. Best film of the year thusfar, for me.
" - Daniel
"Fascinating that one faction feel the ending ruined it and another felt it elevated it to classic status, or close to it.
(the later for me BTW)" - Deexan
"The movie is remarkable in how adult its approach to science fiction is given that this is a Hollywood movie, and its interest in looking at the challenges of communicating across cultures and finding peaceful resolutions to conflicts are poignant in these times when everyone seems to be at everyone else’s throat and trust seems to be at an all time low." - Dracula
"The film ends up going into some more cerebral areas near the end, as Amy Adams begins living the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis of language mentioned earlier in the film; that embracing a new language enough actually affects the way you think and perceive. As such, she is able to see her life in an entirely new way, which puts a twist on most of what we had seen up to that point. It works. I don't know exactly what it means thematically yet, but as far as scientific fiction, its certainly interesting." - Ian The Cool
"Overall, Arrival is a quality film and I’d also argue it’s easily Denis Villeneuve’s best English-language film. It’s a well-crafted work with a solid cast, some really effective scenes, and is actually interested in exploring some important social and science-fiction comments... This is some damn fine filmmaking that remains cerebral while also still being pretty accessible." - PG Cooper
"Over the past couple of years, I've become a huge fan of director Denis Villeneuve, and with Arrival, he further cements his status as one of today's best working directors. His quiet, understated storytelling instincts remain intact here, in spite of serving a more large-scale narrative than his previous efforts, but Arrival is a story that's so inherently human at the end of the day. It's also thoughtful and subtly emotional. Screenwriter Eric Heisserer's script simultaneously manages to maintain a gripping atmosphere throughout while exploring the overall idea of communication in some very engaging ways, but never indulging in any of the expected Hollywood tropes one might expect when dealing with a story like this." - PhantomKnight
"Though its themes aren't exactly revolutionary, Arrival is an excellent example of a film that has each of its departments working on superb levels and the end result is one that meshes these aesthetics into something that feeds off its strengths instead of clumsily attempting to balance them all." - SnoBoarderZero
