Does every news story need to become a feature film? I get the sentiment, but what qualifies as worthy? I don't know, maybe this one is worthy, just kind of seems like they're instinctively jumping on every story even if they dont' make sense as a two hour feature (E.G. Sully) |

Especially when Sully doesn't make a lick of sense to me, not how we've now had 2 Snowden biopics and 2 or 3 Steve Jobs biopics in the past few years. You remember Jeff Bauman, who was in the photo being wheelchaired off while his femoral artery was being physically pinched shut by a dude in a cowboy hat? I feel like the other problem is that sometimes we need a little more distance to really get a grasp of what some of these events mean. I think Zero Dark Thirty could have used a decade or two both to get the facts straight and put the Bin Laden killing in perspective. I also think Captain Phillips could have used some time just so that people could forget more about what those events were so the ending would be more of a surprise.

Also a good point. There's a sizable contingent here talking about how it's too soon to make the movie, but even removed from the closeness it still holds.
I will say I don't expect this to be as well made as United 93 was, but I recall there were also those same comments of "too soon" floating around surrounding that release.
